Your art is amazing as always! Really loved the hairstyles you gave to young Victarion and Euron (not the emo bangs...). Also, I noticed how you drew both Euron and Aeron with slightly curly hair, makes me think of Aerion&Egg having the same hair color...

Thank you so much!! I had a lot of fun designing their hairstyles :)) I thought young Victarion is the type of man who rather chop his hair and not be bothered with it for as long as possible. Euron bangs… Well I wanted to cover his eye somehow without an eyepatchšŸ˜† I forgot about Aerion and Egg having the same hair, but yes that’s the same idea here. The parallels between them are crazy… Oh the amount of parallels Aerion and Euron have is crazy

your art of the greyjoy siblings is making me oddly emotional, something abt theon looking almost out of place in comparison to his siblings who look like a set. though maybe I'm looking too much into it lol

wonderful art as always!

Thank you so much! Theon is a bit more lively than his siblings despite being treated horribly by his brothers… I think he is the only one in the family who has some whimsy in him so I wanted to show that off in this art :)) Although, the rebellion wiped the whimsy out of him completely…

your greyjoylings are too cute (even if there is no joy for them). while it is pretty much evident that baby theon does not get along well with his older brothers, i imagine him having little adventures with dagmer & asha. the notorious reaver being the best dad ever, what a concept 😭

Thank you! Dagmer js basically the father who stepped up😭 I think Asha just allows Theon to follow her around or Dagmer takes Theon and Asha around for little adventures while their older brothers are busy with their duties :)) Someone here has to entertain kids in such dreary place like Pyke😭

Omg I love your art of the rodrik, maron, asha and theon. Do you have any headcanons for them and their relationship with each other? Rodrik always seems so serious in your art and theon only ever remembered him for his drunken cuffs and maron for his cruel japes, but like theon you're also known for your cruel japes. Also your greysnow art is amazing<3

Thank you! I will share few of my hcs!

I usually draw Rodrik serious because I have a feeling that Balon held him at high standards. He constantly has to uphold to Balon’s expectations but at the same time it’s hard for him to keep up with the act. This is why he drinks and gets into cuffs, he can’t handle the pressure and he uses alcohol as fix to his emotional turmoil. I think he is only close to Maron since they are closer to age, yet their differences in his position as a heir kind of distances him from the rest of his siblings.

Since Maron is a middle child (I believe he is the true middle child and not Asha) he might feel that he gets less attention. Rodrik is the heir, Theon is the youngest, and Asha is the only daughter. He believes (or maybe it is true) he doesn’t get enough attention from his family, so he takes it out on Theon. He makes up lies to gather attention and infuriate people.

Asha is in the middle of this mess, I think she is more emotionally intelligent than the rest of her siblings. I think she sees right through them so she feels empathy toward her brothers. She was still young so she didn’t form any true bonds with them, I do believe she loved them all deeply. She is also very young so I don’t think she understood her family dynamics completely but she is more perceptive than her brothers. (I see Balon favoring her more than her brothers even when Maron and Rodrik were alive)

Theon was very young I think he didn’t understand what is happening in the family. I think he wished to be closer to his siblings… Maybe he even followed them around trying to befriend them or feel involved. But that would annoy Rodrik and Maron a lot. Asha would let him trail her and probably ignore him

what you have written about balon's grief made me think about his relationship with theon. alongside not wanting a half-wolf threatening asha's claim, maybe balon wishing him dead was a manifestation of that grief because he cannot bear that it's his fault that his youngest son being taken as an hostage and it is easier to deal with a 9-year-old ghost than him becoming ned stark's son and what is dead may never die anyways

He is! It’s his way of coping with it by externalizing it on Theon. Because he didn’t see Theon for years it was easier for him to ignore/forget about his mistakes and grief. When Theon showed up Balon probably saw him as a threat because Theon is basically the manifictation of his mistakes he can’t bear to face. Balon probably resents him for existing and showing him what exactly his mistakes led to, how much hurt it brought…

Balon is such an interesting character when you think about it. He never openly grieved for his sons and for Theon being taken away… I think any parent would, even person like Balon. Maybe deep down Balon did grieve but it was too painful for him to bear. I think he developed defense mechanism to not face this huge amount of grief. We can see how devastating the Greyjoy Rebellion was to Greyjoy family through Alannys and a bit through Theon and Asha. I think his pride kept him afloat this whole time…

Balon is so realistic to me because of this, I met a lot of people in my life who were dealing with pain exactly like him. People just tend to overlook him due to his actions and write him off as a stupid man (well he is but I think he is more than that). That’s why his dynamic with Theon is so fascinating tbh… They are so similar if you think about it too…

I started thinking about it because I think Balon’s actor in the show unintentionally showed a flicker of what’s going on inside Balon through expression. It’s the scene where Theon was crashing out which caused Balon to slap him, then Theon said ā€œyou gave me away your boy. your last boyā€. Balon looked so devastated for a moment after Theon said this… or maybe it’s me who interpreted his facial expression like that idk.

Since there's been so much buzz around Nolan's The Odyssey, I decided to rewatch Troy, and I couldn't help noticing how similar Hector and Robb Stark are. They're both royalty, both end up fighting wars despite not taking pleasure in violence or killing, and both are fiercely devoted to their homeland. They're admired because they always try to do what's right and fulfill their duty. They're also devoted husbands, exceptional swordsmen, and skilled spearmen. And, in the end, they both suffer tragic deaths, with their bodies being desecrated to further humiliate them. Maybe that's one of the reasons I found both characters so compelling.

Omg I watched Troy last weekend!! To me Robb is the mix between Paris and Hector to some extent. I do feel like Robb is more similar to Hector because they are both dutiful and honorable like you’ve said. But there are thematic parallels between Robb and Paris because of their deadly romance serve as catalyst for tragic events for both of them… Otherwise Paris in Iliad specifically reminds me of Theon more, they parallel each other a lot😭Like Paris’ obsession with his image, his background and his status are very much similar to Theon.

Thank you for giving me this food for thought, anon!!

Did you use a different coloring technique for Theon with the bow and Robb with the sword’s WIPs? The colors look especially vibrant

Thank you! I duplicated the entire drawing lowered the opacity of the new duplicated layer and played around with gradient maps (that are built into procreate) and layer modes (?? I don’t really know what those are called). Sometimes I make multiple layers like that until I am satisfied with the result. I don’t remember what I did here exactly because I merged the layers at the end

The original render is on the left without any editing and on the right is the final one that i posted after doing the gradient maps/layers thing

the thramsay period of time i'm obsessed with is the time between the sack of Winterfell and Reek I (so roughly set in ASOS)... like, how was theon brought to the dreadfort? did he ever think that the Ironborn or his father would come to save him? how long did it take for him to break under torture? when did ramsay first think "omg he's the perfect replacement for my stinky dead servant" ?

It’s also painful to think about because I can’t even imagine what Ramsay did to him to break him to that point from the beginning… we know bits and pieces but not a full complete picture. What exactly helped Theon to preserve part of himself despite all psychological and physical torture he went through under Ramsay?? I don’t think I’d survive reading all that😭 I like how this part of Theon’s arc is mostly omitted, makes Boltons seem even more mysterious than they already are. Also it enhances the dramatic difference between Theon in acok and Theon in adwd… grrm cooked here

In the last episode, when Ormund walks out of the bath naked, it reminded me a little of Theon Greyjoy. Both of them have a very particular relationship with nudity: they simply don’t seem to have any problem showing themselves. In the books, Theon is shown completely naked or changing clothes in front of other people several times, such as Wex, Ramsay, and Maester Luwin. The scene with Luwin is probably the clearest example: Luwin finds him while Theon is naked or getting dressed, but Theon simply continues the conversation as if it were the most normal thing in the world, without feeling the slightest embarrassment (the scene was also shown in the comic, although censored). He even has sex with Kyra while Wex is in the room, and that was… honestly, pretty perverse at least. Theon has no real sense of shame when it comes to his body or his sexuality. At the beginning of the saga, Theon is extremely confident about his appearance: he knows he is young and attractive, and he wants to present himself as someone dominant, confident, and without weaknesses. His body is part of the image he wants to project. That’s why it is so interesting to see how, after Ramsay, his relationship with his own body changes completely: what was once a source of pride and confidence becomes something connected to his humiliation and the loss of his identity. Ormund, on the other hand, uses nudity in a much more aggressive and deliberate way. It feels like a conscious choice to make others uncomfortable and assert psychological dominance over them. In the end, both of them use their bodies but in different ways: for Theon, his body is an extension of the image of the proud, confident, untouchable prince he wants to be; for Ormund, it is a tool to impose his authority and power over others.

OH MY GOD THIS IS EYE OPENING

Theon is so different compared to his family, unlike Victarion and Aeron he is comfortable with nudity (Euron is a monster…). I think it’s because his body is the only thing he is in control of. Ormund on the other hand uses it to reestablish his control and power over others. Theon would want to be like Ormund but he can’t due to his position as a hostage… Makes me think if Greyjoy Rebellion didn’t happen would Theon view his body the same way as Odmund when he’d grow up? Much to think about…. This makes me happy that Theon grew up away from his family yet at what cost
