(Here you go! The designs are inconsistent for now because I'm still experimenting with them... They are not set in stone)

Some fun facts for the pup trio...

  1. Dorota/Dottie is the leader of the group and one of Shad's generals.
  2. Rylan is a bard! I imagine he has a little harp that he plays.
  3. Daniel is a Mortician. A group of folks in the army that do the SK transformation rituals.
  4. Daniel was killed because he was considered too weak by the Eastern Werewolf tribe. He was revived due to his knowledge of medicine.
  5. I also imagine them as one of the older Shadow Knights. Older than Sasha and Gene at least.

Thats kind of all! (I'm sorry, I haven't thought too much of them. They'll probably get more attention once I try to flesh out Shadow Knights as a whole)

However... I can still tell you about other parts of my rewrite :) The following is really just a rant.

Shadow Knight

  • I like when horror is included in MCD Rewrites. THEREFORE, to become a Shadow Knight, someone's gotta stick a weird enchanted parasite into a dead body
  • It tends to eat at the insides during the transformation. At some point, it connects itself to the host and assimilates itself.
  • The parasite is very hungry. So uhh... Immature Shadow Knights eat flesh to help speed along the transformation.
  • I imagine that Shadow Knight Werewolves second form look like this

(Or at least some form. This is from the mo'creatures mod)

  • I imagine that Shadow Knights come in generations, as the formula was not perfect off the bat.

Shad Religion

  • Shad's religious following is split between two main sections.
  • The ones who worship him as the Divine Warrior and the others who worship the Shadow Lord
  • To many, this is considered taboo and heresy. Many have been exiled or even executed when people find out someone is a follower of Shad.
  • The two sections tend to be at odds with each other also.
  • Ms.Momoko(Kawaii~chan) and Aaron are followers of the Divine Warrior section.
  • By extension, Falconclaw was a village that worshipped the Divine Warrior in secret.

Other Facts :D

  • Some changes for my rewrite only exist because I accidentally gaslit myself into thinking they are canon. Only to find out during my rewatch that they are, in fact, not.
  • Case in point --> Jeffery's name is now Joffery.
  • 2nd point --> Vylad is the middle child, and Zane is the youngest. I've recently hammered down their ages so that Garroth and Vylad are one year apart, while Zane is 6 years younger than Garroth.
  • Katelyn and Zane are close in age (she's only two years older) and were friends before Katelyn went into the Jury of Nine. However, her entry to gain her father's title was secretly influenced by Zane.
  • I may make Katelyn into a half-fae
  • Speaking of fae! Elves are fae that have been banished from their court. --> Zoey did have wings but lost them from her banishment.

Hello!! Thank you for asking, I will now tell you all I have thought about them :D

(Lu'pine on the left. Werewolves on the right)

WEREWOLVES

  • A man's very poor imitation of Lu'pine
  • Basically a curse created from a piece of Shad's soul. It originally imitated what was thought to be a Lu'pines transformation.
  • When a person is cursed from the source (lets say... an amulet), they get the full brunt of the curse. These people become the Ultima.
  • Ultima's are more prone to fits of rage. They are more beasts than they are human. It can be rather difficult to get a hold of themselves.
  • This curse can be spread through a bite. However, this curse is less potent. The curse bearer is weaker, but they are less prone to killing in a blind rage.
  • Even out of the wolf form, the human form still shows the changes from the curse
  • This can result in elongated arms, more hair and pointed ears.
  • I imagine the hair can even be a different texture than the persons actual hair. Perhaps feeling more like fur?

LU'PINE

  • The actual beastfolk of Ru'uan!
  • As of now, I've based them more on the movie Wolfwalkers! Basically, when a person sleeps, they become their wolf form.
  • Though they can't bite someone and turn them into a Lu'pine. The ability is more hereditary.

While Lu'pine and Werewolves are not the same, humans do not know that. Therefore, Lu'pine and Werewolfs are considered synonymous terms. Due to the fear that the general population has of werewolves, there is a large werewolf hunting industry in Ru'uan. It's a giant problem that has led to much of the Lu'pine population being wiped out!

The Southern Werewolf Tribe consists mostly of Werewolves who were looking for refuge.

(Aaron design. Inspired by @coin-z3fs)

  • Aaron is an Ultima who was cursed shortly after being given an amulet. In a blind rage, Aaron decimated his whole village before being "saved" by Zane.
  • Zane puts an enchantment on him that helps keep Aaron more under control.
  • Aaron hides his werewolf features using a glamour amulet. This gives the illusion that he looks human.
  • He works for Zane, but I have not decided whether he should be in the Jury of Nine or one of his agents

Werewolves and Lu'pine and Shadow Knights

  • In my rewrite, basically anyone can become a Shadow Knight if they can be successfully revived.
  • When Werewolves become Shadow Knights, it's basically a double whammy. The curse ends up doubling in on itself, creating a being that can rival or even overpower an Ultima.
  • Shadow Knight Werewolves are very unstable and are hard to keep line. They tend to not listen to the rest of the hive mind. There are very few in the Shadow King's army because of this. The few that are in the army are closely watched.
  • When Lu'pine becomes a Shadow Knight, they lose the ability to do their astral projecting stuff. They are similar to when a regular human becomes a Shadow Knight.
  • Daniel and Dottie!
  • I lowkey kind of borrow the face crest design from WolfWalkers. I just thought it would be cool design choice. It also fits in with how I draw all the other beastfolk in my rewrite. Since a lot of them tend to have face crest designs.

I was possessed by the spirit of locking in and actually started to do some fanfic for my rewrite. It's a starting snippet.

On that night, Garroth remembers fire.

It burned bright as it engulfed the lord's home. Even from a little distance away, Garroth could feel its sweltering heat. There were yells from the townsfolk that have come to see the commotion. He remembered seeing people bring buckets of water to calm the flames. It was no use, he thought, the fire was too big. The best they could do was make sure it didn't spread.

Garroth remembers looking around. To see if his family lord and his family made it out. He remembers running to the flames when he heard they were still in the house.

Garroth remembers the fear as he ran through the flames. Not for his life. No. What kind of guard would he be if he did not prioritize his lord's life over his own? What kind of guard would he be if he was still here while his lord was dead? Garroth ran through the flames. He could feel the searing heat through his armor, gnawing at his skin. He could not care less, though. For the safety of his family lord must come first.

Garroth remembers finding his son brother? apprentice passed out and surrounded by fire. He remembers carrying him out and passing him to Dale. He remembers trying to run back, only for the house to collapse. He remembers still running to the house before being pulled away. He tried to yell and kick them away. (Because what kind of guard would he be if he did not protect the very people he swore to protect with his life?) More people kept pulling him away. He only tried even harder to run. Someone turned him around. Garroth remembers Dale's worried face. He was yelling about something, but Garroth does not remember.

Because his lord is dead and he has failed.

Some assorted character doodles!

  • Ava from My Inner Demons makes an appearance! The familiar next to her is Johnny
  • Rylan, Dottie and Daniel have a counterpart here. They are all shadow knights!
  • Dotties real name is Dorota. However, she prefers that friends call her Dottie.
  • Dottie and Rylan are werewolves while Daniel is a Lu'pine from the Eastern Wolf Tribe
  • Together, they create Cerberus. A large part of their role in the Shad's army is to cultivate Shad's following in the overworld.
  • Molly, Donna and Zoey!! These designs feel pretty close to how I want them. However, subject to change.
  • I've joined the Zoey had Antlers agenda. It just feels right now...
  • Thorgi!!
  • I imagine he's a Swedish Vallhund (Which I guess is a wolf corgi??)
  • I imagine that Thorgi is a sort of spirit/familiar that was travelling with a travelling group before being attacked by a bandit camp. Aphmau finds him in the aftermath and adopts him. (She does not realize that's not a regular wolf for the longest time)
  • Travis!! I think I wanna stick with this hairstyle. It's fun
  • I'm going to be honest here, I made these doodles a while ago and I think I forgot most of what I was thinking here
  • Ex-Lovers Azura and Garroth? (They maybe are on better terms after Azura discovers that Garroth is alive and well as PD's Head Guard)
  • I think I made it that a lot of events happened in quick succession which led to Garroth having a mental breakdown(?). It just so happened that Zane was there at the wrong time. I don't think Garroth burned Zanes face, but something happened that made Garroth realize that if he stayed, he would become like Garte.
  • Vylad dies at 16 and stays 16 forever, basically. He hates this.
  • Hyria doesn't really look human. She uses a puppet and pretends that it's her.
  • Some other doodles + an OC! (or two?)
  • Junko and Kuro are Ms.Momoko's travelling companions. Junko is a doll that she animated while Kuro is the crow familiar. (Junko is the person that Ms.Momoko revived)
  • I doodle Ms. Momoko and Aaron a lot together. Probably because they are the only two characters so far who worship Shad's old domain.

Some design things for Aphmau and her Guards

Aphmau

This is all ideas for Season 1 designs

  • Her hair grows the most in this season. Mostly due to how much time passes compared to the other seasons.
  • Her hair is a different color after she gets obsessed with purple. It was a more bluish black but now it's a more a really dark purple.

Garroth

  • I'm more setttled on how Garroth looks like for most of Season 1. Especially since we don't actually see his face for most of it.
  • Garroth gets his scar from Zenix

Laurance

  • Laurance's eyes become a light purple instead of a light blue just to show that it was the void that made him blind

Dante

  • I FIGURED HIM OUTTTT. In terms of color pallete and hair, I really like how he looks.
  • I was imagining his season 2 design would be reminiscent of Garroth, Laurance and Aphmau. So rattail for Laurance, beard for Garroth and flowers for Aphmau (I forgot the flowers :\ )
  • He looks a older than he actually does in Season 2 because of the stress

Katelyn

  • I imagine that the ponytail hairstyle is how we see Katelyn in the first season.
  • And then she lets it down a bit in season 2 and forward.
  • I do like short-haired Katelyn though... Season 3?

Or... Ms.Momoko (renamed for rewrite!)

Wanted to put down all the information I've compiled so far

  • Ms.Momoko is more of an alias and stage name
  • This is because she's a fugitive from Tu'la! She was originally drafted into the Tu'lan King's Army before eventually running away to Ru'uan.
  • She would rather follow her dreams of baking than be used as a weapon for an army that doesn't care about her
  • Her specialty pastry is Peach Bread!!
  • Nana's magic and religious following are heavily forbidden in Ru'uan! Why? Because she follows Shad's Domain! Shad's religious following deals in magic related to the ability to manipulate souls. Which leads to Nana being a necromancer.
  • Nana kept her magic a secret by masking it as Animation Magicks.
  • She even started to learn Animation Magicks to keep the lie up. She did this so much, she started to get rusty at her necromancy.
  • When she first came to Ru'uan, she met Lucinda. At first they were friends, but that friendship ended due to a bad falling out
  • Nana would rather not fight, but when she needs to, she will. She's terrifying when you go against her in battle.
  • She had two companions that traveled with her! Her crow familiar, Kuro, and a doll. I'm unsure of who the doll is as of right now, but it is someone close to Nana who was revived.

Some personal Shadow Knight headcanons. Vylad and Zenix were a pain in the ass to draw ima be so real.

I know in the show its explained that once a Shadow Knight gains their immortality their eyes will be permanently red but literally the only SK who conforms to this lore in Vincent so I'm throwing that out of the window and just say that once a SK gains their immortality by killing their lord or slaugthering thousands, they have the privilage to look human again.

Thinking about how early S1 Aphmau looks in my rewrite...

I want to make Aphmau's amnesia more emphasized and have a bit more conflict in my rewrite.

I imagine that Aphmau wakes up a little confused and disoriented. She wakes up to find that she's all alone in a small clearing in a forest. A part of her calls out to people (she doesn't even know their names. Just the absence of their presence) she thinks that are supposed to be with her. (She even realizes that she doesn't even know her name)! The only person she sees is a man clad in green. But once they locked eyes, the man bolts. Aphmau chases him in hopes of some answers. But eventually loses him in the forest. So Aphmau just.... survives in the forest. She doesn't really have anywhere else to go and what else to do than to go on as normal? Aphmau finds a nice hole to settle in and starts to build a small base there. For the next week, she survives by herself.

I imagine that Aphmau has basically lost most of her memories. The ones she does have aren't as clear as they should be. She has some knowledge that she's a player and has the normal skills that a player has (at least someone who has played for a good amount of time). She also doesn't have the vocabulary for all things relating to players, magic, etc. However, she knows this is a new world and that it was supposed to be a "multiplayer world." She knows how to start up a base and do your normal average player stuff. She knows how to do stuff but not why. For the first part of Season 1, Aphmau is still discovering bits about herself that she doesn't know about.

Some ideas I've had for the first week that she's there:

  • She finds Thorgi. She just so happened to have some skeleton bones on her so she tamed a dog to make her feel a little less lonely.
  • She also has strange feelings of deja vu. Like once, she came across these bandits. But they were dead. And seemingly recently attacked. A strong feeling of grief comes over her, and she goes up to one of them and reaches her hand out. Only for nothing to happen. This worsens the grief. Aphmau is so confused about what is happening, and she just wants answers!

Throughout the week, she ends up coming across the green man a couple of times. But that latest encounter led her to a village! She ends up meeting Garroth and Zenix. But she ends up running off again. She does take account where the village is.

Over the next few weeks, Aphmau visits the village. She helps around and even makes the village more nicer at times. She sometimes even trade with the locals. I imagine that is an incident that has Aphmau stay in the village more. (Aphmau ends up staying with Emmalyn similar to Rebirth. Even if Emmalyn doesn't really like her.)

This is where the events of the story take off.

At some point after the Scaleswind arc, Aphmau accepts that she might not be able to find out who she was before. She decides to give up on it in favor of focusing on lordship and taking care of her newly acquired son!

Her past only hits her full force after she experiences the events of the Irene dimension.

I'm unsure how to describe it rn#One example is that Aphmau can store things in her inventory. Neither the Reader or the NPC can see the inventory and its more based off#feeling. To everyone else aphmau just has random items appear out of NOWWHERE#Oh#and yknow that when we place buttons down it just automatically opens doors#yeah so only aphmau can use that mechanic. That button isn't connected to anything when she places it down. So if an NPC tries it will not#open for them. Among other things that players do. Aphmau just gives a bit of uncanny valley in terms of her mannerisms and things she does#Kind of inspired by the fact that MCD season one is supposed to be season two. which is why she has memories of another world and all of th
