✿ ˑ ִֶָ NICO ROBIN. x reader, minor angst + comfort, established relationship. wc; < 500.
Robin never thought she deserved a love as sweet as the one you've given her. For so long she'd been alone, used and using, clawing tooth and nail just to survive another day that she didn't want.
You're her desert flower, the one she craves at the end of every long day, the only person to ever show up in her dreams.
She couldn't believe it the first time you told her you loved her. The two of you had been sitting together under the moon, shoulders brushing, hands intertwined but both of you were pretending they weren't. And she'd been silent, waiting for you to take it back, to laugh, to tell her it was just a joke.
She thinks sometimes she's still waiting.
But it's gotten easier—better. The bruising kisses and stolen glances have slowly begun to fade into memory. Now she loves you clearly, openly, for all to see.
The ship had docked for an overnight refuel and restock and everyone had been quick to split up, each one of you wanting to go into town for something different.
Robin had grabbed your hand immediately. Her voice was low as she leant close to your ear—close enough to brush her lips against the shell—and you'd felt her smile when she asked if you wanted to go for a walk with her.
And so the two of you had walked, hand in hand, until you came upon an open field full of wild flowers and overgrown greenery.
Robin felt her heart sing when you gasped excitedly. And she was certain the sight of you falling to the ground, surrounded by an ocean of pinks and whites and greens had meant she had died and gone to heaven.
She had joined you in the overgrowth soon after, allowing you to pull her down by the hand until you were lying together among the fragrant smell of pollen and petals.
Eventually your head had found its way onto her lap. Robin had gently persuaded you to move out from beneath the warmth of the direct sunlight, propping herself up against the trunk of a tree when she noticed your eyes fluttering shut. And she was careful as she ran her hand in soft, soothing strokes over your hair.
The shade from under the tree provided cool cover for the two of you as you let the morning slip from your grasp. And it's not long before Robin feels your body go slack, sleep pulling you under with its familiar tender pull.
There's something almost melancholic about the way Robin looks at you then, like she's seeing the end of the story before it's even fully started.
