Fix your hearts or die.

You know how many of us joke that Pride month should be followed by Wrath? Well, this year I feel a deep, burning fury towards all who use transgender lives as political propaganda, bargaining chip or something to be debated and decided on without any of us in the room.

We are human beings. You cannot erase us.

Happy Pride. Trans liberation at any cost.

Official Illustrations for Critical Role's Previously On recaps of Campaign 4!

And this makes all three tables: The Schemers! What a nerve-wracking chain of events, huh? It's been a massive honour yet again to bring all of them to life!!

(there's a little easteregg in the full group illustration...can you spot it?;))

Hi folks! Several of my Generous Archmage tier slots over on Patreon have been sitting empty!

If you like my work and are looking to get a piece of mine done this is a very convenient way to do so! It's also the most affordable at £55 / ~$80

My patrons have used this tier for really fun and creative things, like a slowly growing set of tarot cards or a even tavern table for a whole party, adding a character month after month!

Link to my Patreon is in my pinned post!

More detailed info under the cut.

Hi!! I just wanted to say that your Vespertine art, as well as other original works, is really cool to see!! It feeds me, nourishes me, tucks me into bed. I see that you posted OC stuff and im like "YIPPIE LIFE IS GOOD". I love seeing people post their OCs, especially as someone that also mostly posts OCs in this fandom economy. I think the snippets youve posted about Vesper are really cool and i love them sm. Keep telling us about them!! Peace and love on planet earth 🩷🩷🩷🩷

Thank you so so much!!! People's massive enthusiasm (yours very much included) has given me the push to seriously consider turning their story into a comic.

I'm currently nearly finished doing some pages for a style test, trying out brushes and a process that feels good. Also how it feels to draw the characters. (PSA making a comic with a horned main character is dumb and I'm feeling the pain, lmao. Thankfully a rly cool person made me a 3D model of their head)

No idea where it will go, comics are hard but...it feels really good!

Everyone is being insanely hype and kind about my Vesper comic and aaaghhh I'm rattlinh the bars of my cage. Sharing OC stuff is so vulnerable and yet so amazing, I'm thrilled and wish I could churn out 200 more pages about them by tomorrow.

I joke ofc but it means a lot and it is heartening that people out there give a shit about original works and stories.

Maybe this is the damn push I needed to just...stop worrying so much and start telling stories.

An abandoned child grows too big and too strong for the house that raises them. They are other and are treated as such. The tension builds until the breaking point is reached and they become...[what they were made] [what they have always been].

This 12-page comic took far longer than it ever should have but here we finally are: My OC Vespertine's devastating backstory -- and honestly the core thesis of the entire character.

I've never really poured this much time into an OC project before so...this feels very vulnerable??? (pls be nice lol). The thumbs were created in 2024, and then the comic was finished only last month. In a perfect world I would make a webcomic or smth out of this but who knows ;v;

If you don't know who Vesper is and want to see some more there are bits and pieces scattered about under the below tag #story: Among Wolves and I always hope to share more about them...

For those of you who have been missing my CR fanart (some of you have asked, I'm so sorry), there's some wild news: I'm actually being paid to do it now!

I had the huge honour to provide illustrations for both the soldiers and seekers table recaps on C4 -- and what an amazing story is being woven for us.

These characters mean so much to me already, so to be trusted with them like this is honestly surreal.

Anonymous asked:

Small artist here and new follower, I really admire your work and I love your cr fanarts! How did you manage to become a professional, starting off as a fanartist?

Hi there! Thanks so much for enjoying my work.

This question is pretty hard to answer, I suppose? But I'll try. So, first of all I think this has to be broken down into two parts:

Becoming a Professional Professional, for me specifically means earning a significant, if not all your income through your work as an artist. I do the latter, this is full-time, babey. I was always passionate about art but it was around 2022, after finishing all my formal education and a 4 year stint in graphic design, that I felt ready to take the plunge. This came after years of preparation. Around 2017/18 I started doing commissions, really actively posting online, making connections with other artists (so important!!) and most importantly: working really hard on my art. This meant doing tons of art after a 9-5 (this was nearly 10 years ago, I was younger then lmao) churning out just so much that I had no choice than to get better. Would I recommend that exact approach? Maybe not. Please be kind to yourself.

Starting off as a Fanartist My first big fandom was actually The Adventure Zone (at its end tbh 2016-2017) and only from there I fell into Critical Role. At the start of that time I was unemployed and had literally nothing better to do than draw. And draw I did. CR in the time of Campaign 2 was lightning in a bottle when it came to fanartists and the culture around it. The art reel was still on the episodes, Twitter was huge, fandom was active and thriving. I hit the ground running. When I got my first job offer from CR, I moved heaven and earth to deliver the best work possible. And did so every time they asked me back. I hold myself to a very high standard and I was lucky to leave a good impression, I guess. Because I have the joy and honour to be brought back on every so often to this day. Through that I found other work, private clients and an audience who likes my art for its own sake -- I'm eternally grateful :))

So it will sound bleak now when I say: The environment has changed SO much. The internet as a whole has changed and much of it will never be the same again. I had so much luck. Did I work hard? No doubt, I did. But I think I was in the right place, in the right time. Cool, so now what?? I don't want to sound like a huge pessimist, but this ask finds me at a time where I am honestly thinking about the future of my career because things have gotten so hard. Social media is becoming less and less viable for creatives, so many of my friends and peers are out of jobs and all of us are fighting tooth and nail to make ends meet.

I apologise if that ended up being lecture-ish and a bit sad. I know so many people still hope for this to be their career, to be recognised and seen and PAID!!!! for their hard work. I hope this future can still be real for many people. Hell, including me. I love my job, it's rough but I don't really want to give it up.

My take-away from all this is:

  • Do it with your whole heart
  • Do it with friends (that's other artists, they aren't actually your competition even if it may seem so at the start. They are your strongest allies.)
  • And maybe keep doing it for yourself (sometimes making a hobby into work is hell. I've regretted it, that's for sure.)

I hope you continue to love and make art. No matter how or why. We need it now more than we ever did, honestly.
