sometimes being a therian is shitty.

sometimes i want to bite people. sometimes i want to run faster than i can physically. sometimes i want to curl up to sleep but cant because of my bones sometimes i want to growl and bark at strangers sometimes i need to be handled but theres no one to train me sometimes i need to be pat on the head soemtimes i need to be sniffing out bombs sometimes i need to be chasing the bad guy sometimes i need to be patrolling the house somtimes i need to bite my nails sometimes i need to chew on things somtimes i want to be seen as i am.

but i cant.

i cannot stress enough how miserable it makes me to look out my car window and see wild fields and woods and forest, and not be allowed to go into it.

i just want to run into the forest and never come out.

i'm so miserable in this human hellscape.

I want to have the muscles to move my tail

I want to feel it when my tail touches something

I want to stretch and hear my tail crack

I want to feel my vertebrae continue smoothly to form my tail

I want to be uncomfortable when im laying on my back

I want to have clothes made with tails in mind, with tail holes or more space in the back to let the tail comfortably roll out

I want to have a tail and to be unable to do anything about it meaning im forced to go out with it and say fuck off to people who don't like cuz it's litteraly my body

I want to feel the sharp pain of getting my tail stuck in a door or stepped on

I want to put shampoo on it in the shower

I want to be able to stim with the hairs on the tip of it by bringing it near my hands

I want to brush it and feel the knots painfully untangle themselves

I want to cry because my tail isn't pretty in my eyes

I want to feel proud or self conscious of my tail

I want to be able to wrap my tail around someone when im hugging them

I want to accesorize my tail

I want to dye my tail

I want to feel my tail

I want to have a tail

"Bug therians DNI" "insect therians DNI" "arachnid therians DNI" so why are you even here if you're not willing to exist around anything other than a fuzzy mammal?

Not a therian but oh my god does this rub my fur the wrong way. I don't give two shits if you have any sort of phobia towards bugs.

I have a huge fear of men, to the point where I cannot comfortably sit next to one unless I know them extremely well. But guess what? I don't tell them to piss off because they deserve to exist in the same spaces too.

Don't let your phobias morph into exclusion. I used to be terrified of insects until I forced myself to physically be around them and now I don't even bat an eye at the spiders living on my ceiling.

Insect alterhumans/nonhumans/therians get treated like shit for not being something "cute". They shouldn't have to put their existence behind a trigger warning, they have every right to share this community with us because they are a part of this community too.

They are peeling back the protections of the national parks in my country, opening up wild wolf packs to threats of hunting.

Ranchers and politicians are trying to back wolf culling. There is no environmental reason we need to cull wild wolf populations in my country. The population is already low and is not threatening the ecosystem. The only reason they want to kill wolves is to "protect" livestock.

My species is being slaughtered for money, a worthless imaginary currency.

There's this lapse in therian, transspecies, and other animal(-istic) oriented spaces (even in the furry community where it's largely roleplay and rarely anyone identifies with or as a nonhuman) where one will "stay in their species" and refuse to venture outside of it.

Nonhumanity, beasthood, whatever term fits best for you as the reader, hinges on the idea that biology doesn't determine species, that species is a construct to justify one's separation and abuse from the Earth and all that inhabits it, that it and other classifications are fluid in that sense and can get ever more so. It's based in the idea that parts of an identity can "contradict" each other.

So why is it that these communities will often 'pick' one species and limit themselves to it? Why is it that every other post there's someone confused over phantom/physical wing shifts when their species doesn't have it? Why is it that non-amphibians geek out over how cool it would be to have gills, only to frame it as 'silly' because their -type doesn't posses them?

You can be physically a wolf and mentally a beetle. You can be a biological shark with a dove's wings. You can be a robot with organic fins. The fursona you use doesn't have to be 'realistic' 'unique' 'aesthetically pleasing' or 'symbolic', it can be anything you like. The gear that gives you euphoria doesn't have to be of your species. You can work towards gaining gills as an otter because you'd find them useful.

Mixing and matching your physical, mental, and spiritual components is okay. Redefine how you view species. Redefine how you view yourself as inhuman.

And they're not some rare exception to the rule, either!!!

About 25% of black swan couples consist of two swans of the same sex (typically, two males).

These couples will court each other, build a nest, and raise their young together in a more-or-less committed monogamous relationship.

In fact, these same-sex couples have a high success rate of 80% when raising their young to adulthood, as opposed to the 30% of their heterosexual counterparts! Two big buff papa swans are better than one when it comes to stomping on invaders of nesting territory.

"But," I hear you say, "where do their baby floofballs come from? Does mpreg exist among black swans?"

Alas, no, but there is a very elegant solution to this. The swan couple may simply temporarily associate themselves with a female swan.

Afterwards, the female swan deposits their eggs and swims off free to live her single girlie life if she wishes (or, find a boyfriend. Preferably one who isn't already committed to another boyfriend.)

So whenever someone commits the naturalistic fallacy "homosexuality bad because unnatural >:(" I like to point out not only their glaring illogicality, but also, respectfully, there is homosexuality happening in the local lake right now.
