i dont know if you really want updates about my aquabats journey but i started the show and it was super charming. i quite enjoyed it :)))) loved jimmy the robot and mcbat commander . i think everyone was really charming though. and the fact eagle bones falconhawk's bird was named the dude is super silly and i love that. and the ad parody segments were great especially the insta bro one. and the animated bit was so cool that was one of my favorite bits . it was awesome

Dude hell yes. Okay so I would start with the Aquabats Supershow. Both seasons are free on YouTube which is Great. And with their music I would start with the Fury of the Aquabats and Charge!!! Their other albums are Great too but those are my favs that really made me fall in love with this band. The Aquabats vs. The Floating Eye of Death is also a FANTASTIC album. Check that out too

i seriously doubt that the tiktok genz queer fandom people like family guy and south park because they agree with the politics of those shows & i think judging someones political views by their fandoms is a little presumptive.i mean i watch plenty of shows that i dont necessarily agree with on an ideological level but im able to be critical about that stuff & not take it at face value. you probably do too.

ok but like do they actually think the bigoted jokes are funny or do they just like the characters and want to take them out of the context of the show via fan creation. like maybe i am a little out of my depth here because i havent seen a single episode of either of the aforementioned shows, though i do know about them culturally, i just think its hasty to assume that the people who watch these shows & engage in the fandom are doing so blindly and uncritically. especially because fandom is often on some level disconnected from the source material and more about community engagement with a shared interest.

do i think you necessarily have to be critical of your interests in order to avoid doing harm? yes. do i think it is reasonable to be wary of fans of this type of media due to its cultural associations and political ideologies? yes. do i think growth in these fandoms is a sign of people becoming more right wing? no, not necessarily, and if you do i think youre succumbing to confirmation bias
