ok i wanted to give some context for this silly gif bc i don’t think i’ve ever seen context provided when it goes around and it reminds me of a particular fun thing in early internet culture that is lost nowadays

so while this usually goes around as one gif, it’s actually meant to be divided in two! 2000s art-centric platforms like sheezyart and deviantart allowed users to set gifs as profile avatars, and also had features where users could be tagged using their icon instead of just displaying their username

this led to a popular practice of artists creating gif avatars of them and their friends’ characters interacting that would link up to create a single image when both users were tagged in a post or comment next to each other!

unfortunately icons displaying when a user is tagged is a feature pretty much no social platforms today support, and even gif icon support itself is rare nowadays, so this practice is pretty much lost to time.

i know like every show has the one episode that gets your blorbo extremely wrong right. ok now imagine that's the most popular episode of the entire show and that a bunch of people who claim to be huge fans of the character have never watched any other episode with the character and then you'll understand my pain
