If you’re mean to Lance, I hate you. My perfect blue baby boy is trying, damn it. Maybe he’s not the smartest or the strongest, but he does not deserve the hate and he is in no way shape or form anything less than a vital part of the team. Yeah, he’s silly and overdramatic and maybe even a little slow sometimes, but he’s also kind and badass and constantly striving to be better for the people he loves. The show did him dirty, but his character is inherently flawed and also wonderful. Maybe I feel so strongly about this because I (unfortunately) identify the most with Keith and it is hence in my nature to both acknowledge Lance’s shortcomings and love him unconditionally anyway. I’m not saying I’m against Lance whump or character study, of course not. No, I’m against Lance hate and Lance dismissal. He deserves so much better. He deserves so much more love. Langst is one my favorite things to read (and write) because it makes a lot of sense for the unfair way he was treated, even though he never did anything other than his best. Anyway, if you also love Lancey, let me know so I feel better :)
Lance is for all of us who people call annoying for being loud or human. Lance deserved better from the narrative.
