yeah!!! he helps with training and can tank hits as the player learns the ropes. when he thinks you're good enough to fight alone, he does a little thumbs up and scurries off to do whatever it is he does :) of course he comes back to check on you sometimes or to help with puzzles!
he's just always doing inexplicable bits the entire time with an ultra serious face. gaslighting the player the entire time. he only has a ditto that he repeatedly uses in battles, but uses other people's pokemon left at daycare to build up their experience.
and sometimes he will just stand behind a wild pokemon in a preexisting encounter and it will look like he's battling with them and when it's over hal goes idk who that pokemon is. are you expecting prize money? um. here's a revive i guess.

actually seb should be the one leaving them around. like the easter bunny. seb has inexplicably mastered roxy window shortcuts whenever he's directly followed. this leaves people confused and disoriented. hal voice: hello totally willing customer!!! :D
seb joins the player character as part of their team sometimes. he knows the moves thunder wave, helping hand, iron defense, and Unbreakable Katana (sunsteel strike). the last one is incredibly overpowered and can only be used under rare conditions.
