Time for a Pinned Post

Hello hello! I thought the current pinned post needed freshening up, so here we are. You may call me Defira, I'm a vaguely multi-fandom blog with a strong fixation on BG3 - I've been here since September 2023 and have no plans to leave any time soon

I fancy myself an artist and a writer, with my creative works found on tumblr under the tags #Defira draws and #Defira writes respectively

I have a deep love for crafting multi-OC canons for every fandom I join, so don't be surprised to see me blabbing about multiple names at once - if you can't keep up with who I'm talking about, please feel free to ask!

You can find all of my writing on AO3 and I'm also moderately active on Bluesky. I also have a Dreamwidth as a backup in case of catastrophic platform collapse. I won't post links to every single piece of writing on AO3 because I currently have 120 works uploaded with a total word count of 2.8 million, but I have written for Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Baldur's Gate 3, Avengers (Comics), Stardew Valley, and a host of other fandoms where I've written one shots and short fics. I also blog a lot about Elder Scrolls Online, Critical Role, D20, and Rogue Trader, amongst others not already mentioned

I'm also the creator and head mod for @swordcoastsapphics

I have a Durgetash sideblog at @defirasvault and a currently not so active inspo side blog for my Dragon Age girls at @arcanistderangement

BG3 Main Canon

Keep Telling Me To Breathe - Durgetash, E, 213K. The tale of the rise and fall of Kassara Bhaal and Enver Gortash, inexplicably entwined and horrifically doomed. Two people, ostensibly villains, drawn together across the years and despite the forces aligned against them. They'll fight gods and their own sense of self preservation for each other, but will that be enough?

Read if you like tragedy with a happy ending, Durgetash drama, gods struggling with mortality, mortals struggling with gods, and a fat female Dark Urge who is canonically the hottest bitch in the Gate

A Heart As Cold As Ice - GalexTav, E, 238K (unfinished). The tale of the ruin of Gale Dekarios, and Ryme'dra Ulutar, a woman terrified of hope. Rhyme was once nothing more than a common labourer, content to live a small life before fate and gods intervened. Gale was once a wizard of cataclysmic potential, determined to live a life extraordinary before his pride sent him plummeting. She's tired of people dying for the crime of knowing her, and Gale wants nothing more than to know her

Read if you like... tragedy with a happy ending! Oodles of drow world-building, drow religion, drow politics, drow gender politics, and a messy, complicated drow woman with a literal heart of ice

BG3 has truly changed my life. I've made so many wonderful friends in this fandom. I've been consistently inspired to create for almost an entire year now?? I've made more art in the past year than I have in a decade. I just really love this game and I'm so thankful for how much it's done for me

I loooove ominously giggling when I'm getting my friends into smth new. They ask me a spoilery question and I get to do this

To anyone who's ever been worried that your OC is too Extra... don't be.

The thing is, in any RPG, the protagonist is often meant to be a bit of a blank slate, with room to implement one's own OC, personality, and headcanons. The fact that game dialogue can sometimes feel noncommittal, or the fact that the responses can vary so widely, speaks to this: you can be anyone, so you are not forced to be any one thing specifically.

But when you carry that OC with you, out of that game? The role of the protagonist in the narrative shifts: it is yours. It belongs not to everyone (which is how they build the game) but to you, to your iteration and interpretation of the game's events. The protagonist goes from being the vessel through which we experience the story to being the main character of a narrative.

When we write, then (though this is also true for non-writers with OCs!) the protagonist - be they Tav, Rook, the Inquisitor, the Rogue Trader, anything - benefits from having more detail, and especially more extravagant detail. They are (most often) the POV character of the narrative. They are the lens through which we, as readers in fandom, experience your story.

So yes: make them special.

Yes: make them unhinged.

Yes: make them go on whatever emotional journey you like.

That's what they're there for, and these details enrich the story every single time.

Gromph Baenre has fucked up. His last gamble for power in the political games of the Underdark have seen him exiled, his wife is dead after attempting to murder their daughter and his sister, his sister hates him (nothing new there) and his youngest daughter carrying the reincarnated soul of his mother has absconded from the Underdark to chase dreamily after Drizzt Do'Urden. His elder daughter wants nothing to do with him. He has lost everything.

So when word reaches him of the survival of his old paramour, the former Zedriniset of Lolth, living and thriving in Waterdeep and teaching at the famed Blackstaff Academy, it seems too good to be true. He will simply seduce her, secure a lofty academic position at Blackstaff that requires little effort on his part, and return to a life of power and decadence once more.

Unfortunately, his former paramour is now married - to a Chosen of Mystra, no less. A handsome, dashing human wizard. But marriage has never been an impedance to his schemes before, and perhaps a handsome, dashing human wizard might be a little more pliable than his prickly ex-lover...

AFTER FOURTEEN MONTHS, CHAPTER TWO IS NOW LIVE!!!! After observing Ryme'dra from a distance in chapter one, Gromph changes tact and decides that is Gale is a more susceptible target for his seductions.

Big man on his knees in front of his smaller partner.......he's looking up at them making intense and hungry eye contact...they're cupping his cheek
