I wanna get into making pixel art myself, but I'm truly terrible at color, so could you share any tips about how you choose your color palettes? Do you color-pick from reference photos, or use presets, or go by vibes?

For the color palettes, I use a lot of references. I usually use many references at once while drawing. one for shadows, one for leaves, and one for lighting, and so on, then combine them into one artwork.
I never use the eyedropper tool from the references because I want to train my color sense. If I see a color combination I really like, I try to find the colors manually instead.
I don't use preset palettes either, and yes, you can say I go by vibes + reference images 😁
I make sure the images have a similar vibe. For example, if I want to draw a night scene, I'll look for night scene photos or artworks as references. Hope this helps!
Hello! I love your art, it's super cute, and it inspired me to learn pixel art.
I was wondering which size your pieces are, as this part is still confusing to me. I know the size depends on what the objective for the art is, so for context my end goal is making animated "snapshots" to accompany my short stories audiobook channel on YouTube.

Hi, thank you. I usually start from around 200px canvas size. If it’s square, usually around 200x200 or 250x250. If it’s wider, around 280x180, sometimes bigger
I don’t really set a fixed size, sometimes it’s random depending on what I want to make. The bigger the canvas, the more detail I can create. Here are some canvas sizes from my artworks.
