Hot Take: Chase would lowkey not fw some of his fans. Nor would the rest of the cb cast (except for The Old Man maybe ?? 🤔) some of us are way too negative and subconsciously malicious to others whose opinion they don't agree with both on Tumblr and Tiktok. Being in a fandom should be fun + lighthearted and our favorite popstar would be a little weirded out with how intense/argumentative some people get 🥀

I feel really appreciative of Punko as a creator. Overall mainly because of the theories in this community.

In the past I was part of a community that had (still has) a dedicated and very passionate amount of theorists who had a lot of theories come true. It was great for a while and people were guessing entire plotlines before the next installment of said franchise.

However. The creator realised this and immediately decided to change entire games just to prove theorists wrong and keep "a mystery" leading to the final products being horrible unfinished messes.

Meanwhile, this community has similar amount of talented theorists as my last fandom but Punko never ONCE changes the storyline just because the theorists turn out to be right and predict plot twists perfectly (example -Buddy being a key)

While STILL making everyone go crazy with the insane amount of detail and twists within twists that not only makes theorists be satisfied and happy but also build a dedicated fanbase.

(Also Chase being a role model for healthy masculinity needs to be talked about more)

I always assumed Buddy would just live with Chase in the farmhouse if he became human, but I’ve also seen the hc of him living at the inn across the street with Prunella’s family. I think it’d be sooo cutie but idk if Buddy would be comfortable living with strangers as he figures out the modern world, what do yall think might happen?

My main confession is I feel like Wave being the old man this whole time came out of nowhere like compared to Buddy's arc where his eyes are a big giveaway he was not a normal human I just felt Wave/ old man where tackled on together due to the unknown of a third season.

Cause Wave gives a whole flashback that we see and sure we know now he was lying but also in a graphic comic you cannot just turned around and go oh yeah this wasn't real.

As an Asian person myself I kinda don't like the East Asian Buddy headcanon esp if a white person is doing it. I feel like they only headcanon it cause he's kinda femme in presentation. Where's that tweet that's like "white people get a little queer and suddenly they're Japanese"

I've seen a lot of theories about Buddy's real name. I don't have an exact one, but there are two ideas I have that have to do with it. This is going to be in reference to his flashback when he said that they keys had been saving the name "Onyx" for when the villain key woke up, but that they settled on "Nox" and wanted to make him feel at home. This makes me think that his original name was similar in a way, or at least started with an "N" (something like Nicholas/Nick). I could also picture the opposite being the case, that his old name sounded like "Onyx" in some way, or started with an "O," and they agreed that Buddy would be more comfortable moving away from his old name. I'm leaning more towards his name being similar to "Nox," and the other one came up as an more of an afterthought.

The s2 finale hasn't been going neaaarlyyyy as well as s1... Id even go after far as to say the entirety of s2 lost quality after Little Shadows. Screen time was wasted. Things were not built up to. I mean the series has never failed to make me laugh, which in all fairness is one of the most important parts of CB to me. But plot wise? That's another story 🫥

I don't get why people in the comments on webtoon think Wave being old somehow makes his actions worse. More specifically, for grooming Prunella and deceiving Deacojn.

I think wave became far more attractive to me as a character once it was revealed that he was indeed bad. now today's free episode did change some of those feelings but MY GOD he looks so gorgeous with evil expressions. praying he's not actually an old wrinkly man so i can simp in peace

I used to REALLY dislike height difference couples in romance media for some silly reasons but reading CB COMPLETELY flipped that switch. It even lead to me liking some g/t!!

i love stargoth. i love their determination to push past all obstacles together for the sake of themselves and the people they love. i love chase. i love his sincerity and his desire to give those important to him his all, all of the time. i love buddy. i love that he gave himself a chance despite growing up in a world that told him he never deserved any, i love that he jumps to action when something is wrong. i love silver. i love that she finds creative ways around every problem with a dash of optimism and assures her loved ones thrive in her company. i love violet. i love how much she cares about everything, including the people adverse to her goals at times, and the faith she is able to place in the people she loves in spite of her own bias. i love deacon. i love to see him grow beyond letting himself be strung along by fate and finding joy in making his own choices. i love bronze. i love that he let go of his skeptically pessimistic views and opened himself up to hoping for a better future, all the while nudging the people he cares about towards their best own. i love prunella. i love her confidence in spite of rejection, i love that she never compromised who she is and what she likes in order to please others, and is instead open to learning different ways to express her passions. i love goldie. i love that he motivates everyone around him to do their absolute best no matter the circumstance, i love that he readily expresses the joy he feels and his want to share it. i love cinderella boy.

CB's main cast is all white and male. (Prunella is 8, a kid, I won't call her a woman) And this is something that should be questioned. The exclusion of women and people of color.

But, while questioning this, as a South Asian brown woman myself, I ask people to reflect on some parts of what they're saying.

When you say that the main cast brown keys are either lazy or mean, you're reducing Bronze and Violet to their worst characteristics. Bronze is also intelligent, observant and helpful. Violet is also resourceful, caring and protective.

The party prince from HAT was a drunkard and an idiot, but he was also the only prince in the comic who ever spoke of the people he was ruling, he also was the only prince who asked his princess for advice on national decisions instead of treating her like a oh-so-delicate flower.

People of colour are above all, people. And people have flaws and they have strengths, that's what makes a character.

Do you reduce Chase to the singular word conceited? Goldie is daft, Buddy is sultry. If Deacon was a poc, you would question why the poc is a poorly socialized gump who sees women as a different sparkling species. But nobody ever says that. And it's for the simple reason that they're white.

White characters are allowed to just exist. White people are seen as whole people.

In your mission to look out for dogwhistles, you subject the characters of colour to a degree of scrutiny, criticism and reductionist language that is never shown to their white counterparts.

It is a problem when the coloured character is just a stereotypical caricature. That example in CB is that rapist from HAT.

But he's not just the only one who does that, episode 2 and 3 is just a slew of white princes either getting slapped or punched because they keep forcing themselves on Chase.

The WOC you call "just eye candy for Deacon"-- One of them is the most established archer of her realm, she's brave and she's brilliant. The other one is a scared princess who learns to step out of her long self imposed exile for the good of her nation. Third is Violet. All these side characters have their stories, and their personhood.

The problem here is not these women, the problem here is your beloved boyfailure who doesn't know how to act. He is drooling over all women irrespective of colour, not just the WOC. He thirsts for everything female, including a robot!

I know in today's climate, just the existence of poc is political. And I get it, you're trying to look out for racism in media. But in doing so, if you only rip characters of colour apart, if you only focus on their worst traits to further your argument, which side are you even playing for?

All characters in CB are flawed. So yes, the poc are flawed. And yes, the whites are flawed. Freely accepting the same traits in whites which are immediately questioned in a poc is a double standard in itself.

Yes, my existence as a WOC is political. But nothing about me just existing is politics. I'm just a person, I'm imperfect, I have my vices, I have my sparkly bits. And that's what I would like to see from a media representation, a person.

Punko sucks at making her characters coloured. But what she doesn't suck at is making her characters, irrespective of their colour, people.
