Sometimes Espresso Draws

Formal governance in Benji's PMD setting is mostly municipality based, with each village, town or city being its own discreet political unit independent of any higher form of authority. The way power is structured (elected board vs council of elders, mayor vs chief, etc) is different for each community.

The closest thing to inter-community governance would be the Guild System, but they act primarily in support of civilization as a whole and have no authority over non-guild members*, deferring to local laws and leadership most of the time.

*(Wanted outlaws being the exception)

Once you step outside into the wilds, things become a mixed bag.

At one end, you have the semi-civilized pokemon. These are usually somewhat-wild family groups or loose communities with no formal laws or structure, but who otherwise interact cordially with urban mons, usually via trade.

At the other end, you have the full-on wild pokemon who basically live a feral lifestyle. Unlike dungeon mons, they are fully cognizant and live this way willingly, either due to pragmatic reasons, "because that's the way Arceus intended", or what have you.

Predatory members of this group will actively prey on other pokemon without hesitation, wild or civilized regardless. The Guild regularly patrols roads between towns to ensure traveler safety, and escort missions are a commonly rendered service.

Recent decades have seen the rise of a small handful of full-blown city-states, which tend to be much larger than typical communities with more centralized power structures and outsized economic clout.

They also have a worrisome habit of expansionism - albeit mostly peacefully so far - and of throwing their weight around against other communities that border them.

The Guild keeps a wary eye on these rising powers, and not without a growing sense of apprehension.

Lol Miya can just go gigantamax to be taller

Ahhh, she could if she was in Galar, but - alas - she's in the PMD world.

Besides, she kinda likes Benji being taller. They both know she could still whip his tail in a battle anyhow, so it all comes down to aesthetics.

This is my final attack of this year's Art Fight and it just so happen to fall under PMD day, so the timing definitely couldn't be more perfect ahaha

Question is, where are they running to? A dungeon? A town? Maybe they're having a race?

That's all a mystery...

To everyone who drew my OCs and having awesome OCs to draw, thank you so much! I'll be seeing you next year(hopefully)! This was easily my best Art Fight to date frfr

Every character(aside from Mike the Oshawott and Paprika the Fennekin) belongs to their respective creators.

@heropartnerweek Day 5: Flowers

Miya is the epitome of a girly tomboy, just as likely to treat you to a flower crown as she is to roughhouse in the dirt. Benji's fine with serving as her test subject if it means a moment of peace.

Besides, she's kinda cute when she isn't trying to kick his ass.

@heropartnerweek Day 3: Favorite Place

While the boys have their own room at the Guild's dormitory, they're just as likely to be found spending their down time at Finn's parents' house. For Finn, it's his childhood home, obviously. For Benji, its one of the few places where he feels completely safe and at ease, a refuge from the Guild's expectations and the every day insanity of the pokemon world.

Technically, rookie teams are supposed to live at the Guild full-time, but when your parents are retired top-level explorers - and senior members of the Guild's executive council to boot - you can get away with fudging a few rules here and there. Besides, Finn's mom and dad know that Benji needs somewhere to retreat when things get overwhelming, and since they've basically adopted him as one of their own, they consider it his home too.

Personal blabbing under the cut!

It's a somewhat odd question, but what's the name of the first dungeon Benji and Finn go to? Idk why but I find PMD dungeon names so enticing.

Honestly, I haven't gotten that far yet!

My setting isn't directly based on any of the particular games, so I'm having to make it up as I go along.
