The Smut Garden

@bakubrattt / bakubrattt.tumblr.com

🌷Woah there, frolicker! Beyond this gate grows a shameless collection of blooms, yearning, and absolute filth. Every flower bed belongs to a different muse, and every bloom leads to its own little patch of stories, fantasies, and overgrown indulgence. So wander carefully, and pick your favorite blossom. Just don’t be surprised if the vines grab back.

🌷Mature Bloom Warning! Every flower in this garden is planted in smut-rich soil and glistening in hormonal dew. 18+ frolickers only! Underage seedlings, keep your pruning shears away, and please see yourselves out the front gate. Thank you!

🌷Requests! Is there a certain type of flower you’d like me to plant for you? Shoot me a request! No guarantees, but I always check my catalogue suggestions and soil.

Sweet, ravenous, and blooming under the full moon. This garden belongs to Valko, where silver vines, soft petals, and dangerous cravings grow wild after dark. Awooo!

Careful, tender, and blooming with restrained intensity. This garden belongs to Zayne, where every petal is handled with surgical precision, every bloom is guarded by quiet assertiveness, and every hidden craving grows from a devotion too deep to stay buried.

Sweet, forbidden, and blooming beneath golden skies. This garden belongs to Caleb, where every blossom whispers temptation, every apple dares you to take another bite, and every hidden desire sinks its roots deeper than either of you were ever meant to allow.

Chapter 27

Summary: As an omega who has spent her entire life rejecting biology, destiny, and every alpha who thinks softness is something owed, you’ve built yourself out of spite and survival. You don’t believe in belonging. You don’t believe in bonds. You don’t believe love means anything if fate gets to choose it for you first. But then, Valko walks into your life: an alpha who might challenge every single thing you’ve ever believed about fate, freedom, and love. Do you dare follow?

An: Oh we are getting MESSYYYY angst this chapter. My poor baby wolfie ;~;

The north gate of Lykos Forest should have looked smaller in daylight. If anything, morning made it larger because now you could see every detail your memory had been filling in with moonlight and terror. The old metal gate stood open beneath the gray sky, wet from last night’s rain, its black bars dark and glossy where water clung to them in thin lines. Beyond it, the dirt road slipped into the trees and vanished under layers of green so dense they looked almost blue in the distance. Ferns crowded the edges. Moss climbed over stones. Branches still dripped from the rain, each slow drop ticking softly into the undergrowth like the forest had its own pulse. It smelled alive even through your car’s vents. Wet bark. Mud. Leaf rot. Cold mineral earth. The deep, breathing green of a place that had existed long before fences and road signs.

Your body remembered it wrong and right at the same time. It remembered Lykos as darkness. Silver moonlight broken through branches. Your boots sliding over roots. Tara’s voice sharp in your ear. Armor flashing between trees. A wolf mask turning toward you. The ground shaking when he landed. Your lungs burning. Your pulse loud enough to drown out thought. But daylight didn’t erase any of that. It only laid the truth over the nightmare and made you realize the nightmare had been built on real ground.

Saturday morning came in gray. After the night you had lived through, after the transport ride home with mascara streaking silently down your face, after Eoncore Tech opened beneath your hands like a polished trapdoor into something huge and faceless and wrong, the world should have had the decency to look ruined. Instead, Linkon sat outside your window in soft weekend light, wet rooftops brightening under a pale sky, traffic moving in clean lines, people walking beneath awnings with coffee cups and tote bags and lives that hadn’t ended on a balcony.

Your apartment looked worse than the city did. Your laptop was still open on the couch, tabs crowded across the screen until they were only slivers of blue-white accusation. Eoncore. EVER. Archived disclosures. Public contracts. Empty leadership pages. Valko’s business card rested beside the trackpad, black and silver and obscene in its simplicity, the only place in the whole public world where his name seemed willing to exist.

You had spent half the night trying to make him into something clean enough to hand over. Buyer. Criminal. Protocore fragment owner. Eoncore Tech. Possible EVER connection. Hidden executive identity. Every word had its own weight, its own sharp edge, and together they should have formed something solid enough to carry into Jenna’s office on Monday. You could see it clearly. You could walk in, set the card down on her desk, and watch the Association become a wall between you and him. There would be questions, of course. There would be reports and careful language and probably three different departments arguing jurisdiction before anyone did anything useful. But eventually, the machine would move. It always did, once there was enough threat on paper. Valko would become a case, then a target, then maybe a cell number if the world decided to be merciful to you for once.

An: Me imagining Sylus describing his friendship with Valko: “We’re besties” LMFAO

The balcony felt colder after you left, and Valko hated that he noticed. It was a ridiculous thought, the kind of sentimental nonsense he would have mocked if anyone else said it aloud. The temperature hadn’t changed. The same night air moved between the railings, carrying the smell of drizzle on concrete, expensive smoke from the auction rooms, and the distant metallic breath of the city below. Linkon glittered beyond the N109 zone in clean, lawful lines while the private venue behind him breathed with black-market elegance, all polished floors, low music, soft laughter, and the delicate collision of crystal glasses in hands that had never been clean. Nothing in the world had shifted in any measurable way because you had gone home. The balcony remained a balcony. The city remained a city. The refill of whiskey in his hand still burned like whiskey. And yet the space beside him felt emptied with such precision that he could almost see the shape of your absence standing there where your anger had been.

He took another drink from the fresh glass because standing there empty-handed had felt too honest. The first whiskey had done nothing but give his fingers something to hold while you looked at him like destiny had dragged you to the edge of a cliff and called it romance. The second had softened nothing. This one, the third, was beginning to loosen the hard edges of the night just enough that the ache became harder to name. Valko wasn’t drunk. He was too practiced for that, too built around control even when he played at being reckless, but the armor of him sat wrong now. His tie had been tugged loose at his throat. A few pieces of auburn hair had slipped forward over his brow, catching pale pink beneath the balcony light. His posture still looked careless from a distance, one hip leaned near the railing, broad shoulders relaxed beneath the expensive cut of his suit, but the relaxation was too deliberate. He was performing ease for a room that wasn’t looking at him anymore.

By the time you reached Sylus, you had made your face into something that could survive being seen. It wasn’t calm. Not really. Calm had breath in it. Warmth. Blood still moving properly beneath the skin. This was colder than calm. This was the version of yourself you assembled after bad missions and worse medical reports, after alpha men mistook fear for permission, after strangers looked at your biological designation before your name. Spine straight. Chin lifted. Eyes dry by force. Mouth set hard enough to make trembling impossible.

A hunter’s face. A liar’s face. A girl holding the broken pieces of herself behind her teeth and praying no one asked her to open her mouth too wide. Sylus saw through it. You knew he did because he didn’t look at you for too long. His gaze touched your face, then your closed fist, then the balcony behind you, where Valko still existed even if you refused to turn around and confirm it. The movement was small. Almost nothing. Just a brief red flicker past your shoulder before his eyes returned to yours. But it was enough. Sylus had the kind of awareness that made rooms feel less private than they should have. He noticed what people tried to hide, and worse, he often had the courtesy not to name it. That courtesy hurt more than intrusion would have.

“I’m assuming you found what you were looking for,” he said.

The moment Valko revealed he was the buyer you’d been hunting down, the balcony seemed to lose its air. The word landed like impact. It struck somewhere deep behind your sternum, hard enough that for one stunned second you forgot how to breathe. The auction continued behind you in all its obscene elegance, music spilling soft and expensive through the cracks, laughter rising in polished fragments, crystal chiming beneath hands that had probably never shaken from fear a day in their lives. The whole place carried on as if nothing had happened. As if the universe hadn’t just reached across the balcony, taken your mission in one hand and your worst nightmare in the other, and forced them into the same body.

Valko was the buyer. Valko had the protocore fragment. Your fated mate had the one thing the Association had been hunting for months. For a moment, all you could do was stare at him. Not at the idea of him. Him. The broad line of his shoulders beneath the cut of his navy blue suit. The careless strength in the way he leaned near the railing, tall enough to make the night sky of the N109 zone feel lower around him. The empty whiskey glass hanging loose from his fingers. The auburn fall of his hair catching the balcony glow in silvery pink threads, softening him in a way that felt almost cruel. His jaw was shadowed sharp. His mouth still held the remains of that infuriating confidence, that lazy almost-smile he wore like armor, like nothing could surprise him, like nothing could hurt him unless he personally allowed it. But his eyes betrayed him. Gold, bright, watchful. Not smug anymore. Not entirely. He was studying you too carefully for that, tracking the silence on your face, the way your fingers tightened around your wineglass, the way your spine went rigid as if standing straighter could hold your life together.

For a long, impossible moment, none of you moved. The balcony stayed open around you in a wide pale circle, suspended above the N109 zone with its pillared roof washed in moonlight and its curved railing overlooking the violent glitter of the district below. The auction murmured behind you through the open doors, red light and music spilling out in thin currents, but out here everything felt colder, quieter, sharpened by the night air. The moon laid silver over the stone floor, over Sylus’s black suit, over the glass of whiskey in Valko’s hand, over the hard line of his shoulders where he stood turned toward you now. A few guests lingered near the columns, speaking softly over champagne and smoke, but they might as well have been on the other side of the city. The world had narrowed to three people and one question.

Have you met my friend, Valko?

You hadn’t realized you were holding your breath until your lungs began to burn. Across from you, Valko looked caught in the same strange suspension, his broad body gone still beneath the moonlight, whiskey forgotten in one hand, gold eyes fixed on yours with an intensity that made the air feel too thin. He didn’t look startled in a small way. Nothing about him was small. He looked like something powerful had been struck silent, like a man used to moving through danger with a grin and a half-cocked joke had found a blade buried somewhere words couldn’t reach. His expression held for a second too long before he tried to put control back over it, but he wasn’t good enough at hiding himself from you. Not with the bond awake. Not with your body remembering his scent before your mind could stop it.

An: Every breath you taaake, every move you maaake, every bond you break, every step you take, Valko’s watching youuu~ LMAO he reminds me of the song XD

By Friday night, the N109 zone felt less like a place you entered and more like something you returned to against your better judgment. The auction venue rose above the district in black glass and vertical red light, taller than the surrounding buildings and bright enough to make the wet streets below look freshly cut open. From the transport window, it looked like a wound in the skyline. Sleek. Expensive. Predatory in a way that didn’t bother pretending otherwise. The roads around it were crowded with silent vehicles, armored transports, private cars with tinted windows so dark they reflected the neon back at itself. Men and women in tailored clothes moved beneath the awning in small clusters, all polished shoes, sharp jewelry, guarded posture, and smiles that never reached their eyes. No one looked lost. No one looked surprised to be there. That, more than anything, made your stomach tighten.

If they were all here to buy illegal things, then the room inside was going to be full of the exact kind of people the Association wrote reports about with too many blacked-out sections. Protocore collectors. Brokers. Criminal heirs. Private military buyers. Rich assholes with enough money to call their greed taste and enough influence to make prosecution difficult. Somewhere among them, supposedly, was the buyer currently holding the fragment tied to your case. The spatium core piece. The living green star, if the original lead had been telling the truth instead of dressing contraband in pretty words. That was why you were here. That was the mission. That was the thing you repeated to yourself while your fingers tightened around the matte black invitation card Sylus had given you a week ago.

The next morning, everyone could tell something was wrong with you. You knew because no one was subtle about it. The Association’s main floor had always been loud in a controlled way, all low voices, keyboard clatter, bootsteps, dispatch calls, the soft mechanical chime of doors opening and sealing shut. Hunters came in half-armored and half-caffeinated. Analysts crossed between stations with tablets tucked against their chests. Someone near the evidence desk was arguing with a lab tech about chain of custody. Somewhere past the glass corridor, a training room alarm blipped twice before shutting off. It was an ordinary morning in every measurable way, and that almost made it worse, because you weren’t ordinary inside it.

You walked through the building like something had emptied you overnight and left your body to keep moving out of spite. Your uniform was immaculate. Your hair was neat. Your weapons were cleaned, checked, and holstered like they were supposed to be. Your scent blocker sat cold and bitter against your skin, layered on so thick you had almost choked yourself with it in your bathroom before coming in. Nothing about you looked visibly injured. No blood. No limp. No obvious tear in the machinery of you that anyone could point to and say, there, that’s why. But your face gave nothing. Not calm. Not composed. Stone.

You felt it in the way people looked twice. Felt it in the slight hitch of conversation when you passed. The tiny shift of bodies making room for you like you were carrying something sharp and loaded in both hands, even when your fingers were empty at your sides. You had worn professional detachment before. Every hunter learned how. You had smiled through pain, snapped through exhaustion, flirted with death and come back with a report filed before your bruises had even darkened. This was different. This was absence wearing your skin.

An: VALKO IS FINALLY HERE AND SO IS THE ANGST YAY

An abandoned factory district sat on the edge of Linkon for Tuesday’s mission. From above, it looked less like a neighborhood and more like a graveyard made of corrugated metal, rusted roofs, broken skylights, skeletal walkways, and long-dead smokestacks standing against the night. The buildings were packed close together in uneven blocks, some tall and rectangular with shattered windows, others low and wide with garage doors warped by weather and neglect. Wind dragged loose sheets of metal against their frames in slow, whining scrapes. Old signs creaked over loading docks. Somewhere below, rainwater dripped steadily from a broken gutter into a puddle black enough to reflect nothing.

You crouched on the edge of a rooftop with one gloved hand braced against the cold concrete lip and watched three men move through the alley below. They were dressed too similarly to be random. Black jackets. Black pants. Boots meant for running, not working. Caps pulled low. No visible affiliation marks, no insignia, nothing that would make them easy to identify if someone caught a security image of them slipping between dead factories after midnight. They kept their heads down, but not like frightened men. Like men who knew they were somewhere they shouldn’t be and trusted the dark to keep its mouth shut.

An: VALKO NEXT CHAPTER FINALLY AHHHH I MADE IT WITH SO MUCH ANGST OSKSKKNNBSVBSLXOSN

By Saturday night, you and your hunter squad were long overdue for something that didn’t involve blood, mission reports, secret contacts, illegal protocore trades, or the looming awareness that your life had somehow become a string of horrifying little memos.

The debrief had gone out that morning because you hadn’t trusted yourself to wait. You had written it in the bluntest professional language you could manage and emailed it to Jenna with Xavier and Tara cc’d, subject line dry enough to look like it belonged to someone who hadn’t spent Friday night eating dinner with the leader of Onychinus. Jenna had responded within twenty minutes with a simple, Received. We’ll discuss Monday. That was it. No follow-up questions. No immediate summons. No lecture. No order to stay home and pretend that walking into the N109 zone in a black dress with weapons strapped to your body was something a normal hunter got to do on a Friday night, which meant Saturday was yours. For once, you were determined to keep it.

The bar Tara picked was tucked into a busy street corner with fogged windows, amber lights, and a wooden sign above the door that looked like it had survived at least three decades of bad decisions and good music. Inside, it smelled like fried food, melted cheese, spilled beer, pizza sauce, citrus wedges, and the warm crush of too many people talking over one another. It should’ve been overwhelming. It probably would’ve been, if you’d been alone. But with Xavier sliding into the booth across from you like he was already considering a nap, and Tara shoving herself in beside you with the fierce determination of someone who planned to enjoy herself on purpose, it felt cozy instead.

The N109 zone seemed to have eyes itself. It watched you. The border rose out of the night in pieces: broken concrete, rust-dark fencing, old industrial gates reinforced with newer metal, warning lights blinking red through the rain-slick haze. Beyond it, the city changed shape. Linkon’s polished order ended behind you in clean lines and lawful surveillance. Ahead, the N109 sprawled in jagged layers of neon, shadow, black glass, and architecture rebuilt into something meaner than what had fallen there before. Every window looked occupied. Every rooftop looked armed. Every alley looked like it had teeth.

You stepped out of the transport. Your boots hit the pavement hard. The black dress moved around your legs with each step, soft fabric cut close enough to look elegant if someone was stupid enough to stop at the surface. You had chosen it because it was dark, flexible, and easy to hide weapons under. Because the neckline sat right with the holster beneath your jacket. Because the slit gave your thigh room to move. Because the fabric skimmed over knives tucked where hands had no right to wander. Because with the combat boots, the gun, the blades, and the red lipstick, it stopped being a dress and became a warning.

“Rafayel…You rang?”

The voice came through Rafayel’s phone like it had all the time in the world. It was smooth, low, and faintly amused, not warm enough to be friendly and not sharp enough to sound openly hostile. That was somehow worse. Open hostility gave you something to brace against. This voice settled into the sunlit upper room with the patience of someone who didn’t need to raise it to become dangerous. It slipped between the smell of garlic butter and lemon, between the salt-bright crash of the ocean beyond the glass, between Rafayel’s blood and guilt and the careful plates set on the dining table like a meal could survive what had happened downstairs.

Rafayel stood beside the low table with the gun still aimed at his head. Blood had dried in a dark line from his temple into his violet hair, but fresh red still shone near his brow where the pistol had split him open. His loose white shirt hung crooked from where you’d dragged him upright. Paint stained one sleeve. His face had gone pale beneath it all, color drained out of him until his eyes looked too bright, too devastated. Not just from the blows. Not just from you. Something in him was still downstairs with the shattered skeleton, with the bone dust glittering across his perfect white floor, but you didn’t let yourself care. His grief didn’t get to become the center of the room. Not after he had made yours entertainment.

Can we talk about something?

Never have I had as many weird comments on fics until I started writing Valko. It’s either anything from being told to eat shit and die or some weirdo leaving me an entire paragraph complaining about my pacing being too slow and style of writing and then apologizing for “hurting me”.

Do most people realize writers write for fun? For free? Like here let me change my pace and style because you don’t like it. Oh well. Go cry. I was just talking to my friends about how people are so weird online and how I once got a comment that was a paragraph complaining about how I’m not inclusive because “the main character has washed their hair too many times already.” (Different fic) Some of y’all weird fr. Just enjoy or move along. Don’t tell me or anyone else how to write. I ain’t reading alla that.

An: Reblogs appreciated! SORRY IN ADVANCE TO ALL RAFAYEL GIRLIES THIS CHAPTER ;~;

Mo Art Studio was too beautiful for what you had come there to do. White Sand Bay glittered below the road in hard noon light, all blue water and violent white surf, the kind of view people paid disgusting amounts of money to pretend made them peaceful. The ocean spread beneath the cliffs like something alive and merciless, waves hurling themselves against the rocks until they broke open in flashes of foam. Above it, Rafayel’s studio and home sat in pale stone and glass, clean and bright and quiet enough to look almost holy from the outside. Sunlight slid over its wide windows. Gates sat hidden behind tasteful landscaping. The whole place had the polished arrogance of money.

Your hand tightened around the strap of your bag until the leather creaked. Tara noticed. She stood on your left in field-casual clothes with her arms folded tight, her rifle case left in the transport because this was supposed to be a supervised contact meeting, not an execution. Xavier stood on your right, half a step behind, quiet as snowfall, his gaze on the building instead of your face. He got away with his longsword. Neither of them said anything. You appreciated that. The last week and a half had been full of people speaking carefully around you, as if your anger were a hot pan they were trying not to touch. Jenna had been professional. Zayne had been clinical. Tara had been furious in a helpful way. Xavier had been steady. None of it changed the fact that you had spent the entire ride to White Sand Bay picturing Rafayel’s stupid face when you walked in.

The next morning, the Unicorn Team sat in Captain Jenna’s office while the wall display tried to make Lykos Forest look like something that could actually be understood. It failed. The map was too clean for what had happened there. A green-black satellite spread of private land. A neat eastern boundary line. A marked service gate. A highlighted camera gap tucked against the cedar. A large building you never saw or got anywhere near, swallowed by the high trees. Your bracelet route in thin blue, Xavier’s route half a mile behind yours, Tara’s remote feed layered over both in pale system grids. The photos you had taken lined the right side of the display in little rectangles: fence posts, keypad entry, hidden cameras, sensor boxes, warning signs, wet tire tracks, mossed service markers, an interior access trail, the river shining in moonlight, and one terrible blurred smear of dark armor caught at the edge of motion before the entire night had become running.

Officially, you had gone out for a visual sweep. Unofficially, Captain Jenna had said she didn’t hear anything about you hopping fences. That sentence sat in the room with all of you now, quiet and useful. Jenna didn’t look amused by it. She didn’t look regretful either. She stood behind her desk with her arms folded, expression controlled, gray eyes moving from photo to photo while Tara walked through the findings with her tablet tucked against her ribs. Xavier leaned near the door, silent in that deceptively relaxed way of his that meant he was ready to move if anyone in the room breathed wrong. You sat in the chair across from Jenna and stared at your own hands.
