Stell, our local grouch, is famously hard to even crack a smile out of. Instances where he grins, let alone laugh, tend to spawn from events where he is feeling superior or triumphant over another.

No. Stell hates giving gifts. Giving gifts means having friends, and worse, having a bond with them that makes one think of them regularly like having some sort of wretched parasite lodged in one's skull. Ugh.

That being said, if they were ever in the position of having to give one, they wouldn't be so petty to give something half-assed. Who do you think he is? No, this is not an exchange between friends. This is a battle of wills, to best the other and bring a superior gift that leaves the other feeling inferior in their own pitiful choice.

for lady helia! she deserves to have a real and genuine giggle, i think.

It didn't take much to make Lady Helia laugh, from polite chuckles to nervous titters. It's only natural, when one had to navigate the overly scrutinized lifestyle of a living legend.

Instances of what one would consider a true laugh--as in when one may do a full-bellied guffaw--were far rarer to witness, as Lady Helia was famously extremely formal and reserved. Her laughs would have been high and joyous, definitely with some snorts--something she'd have been very shy about if witnessed haha

I imagine that in order for her to laugh genuinely, she would have needed to be in a situation where she could let down her mask and simply be herself! From there, getting her to laugh would be a breeze--she was secretly fond of bad jokes and puns and, being the figurative repressed catholic girlie that she was, almost everything would be a fun opportunity to try something new. (Sidenote: I think she'd have particularly enjoyed dancing, especially in pairs or a group!)
