Hello and welcome to Finwëan Ladies Week!

September 21-27, 2026

This is a week-long event celebrating the ladies of the line of Finwë! There have been events within the Silmarillion fandom focused on the sons of Finwë and their descendents, and to add to the fun this week was established to give his wives, daughters, and other female descendants their own time to shine.

This year, Finwëan Ladies Week will run from September 21-27, 2026!

Any content and creations about the ladies of Finwë’s line are welcome! You can create edits, gifs, fanart, fanfic, fanmixes, and more!

Please tag your posts with #finweanladiesweek in the first 20 tags AND @ mention this blog @finweanladiesweek so they can be easily found. If your submission turns into a long post, please put what you can beneath a “Keep reading” divider. You may also post your creations to our AO3 collection.

Below are some prompts for each day of the week. They are not mandatory, but they are here to inspire you. This page will lead to a detailed explanation for each one.

  1. DAY ONE: Míriel Þerindë and Indis
  2. DAY TWO: Findis and Írimë Lalwen
  3. DAY THREE: Aredhel and Galadriel
  4. DAY FOUR: Later Generations
  5. DAY FIVE: Ladies Who Married In
  6. DAY SIX: Original Characters
  7. DAY SEVEN: Freeform

This event is being organized by mods Anna @arofili and Elle @elesianne. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to message this blog or reach out to Anna on their main blog. Anna runs on Pacific Standard Time, and Elle runs on Eastern European Summer Time, so we will be active and modding on those schedules, although you are free to post your content at the time most convenient to you!

For further clarification, check out our FAQ and prompts pages! Happy creating!!

I was thinking about the Quenya word Lengwë meaning yearning or desire for what is lost or cannot be returned (to).

There’s another word, milbar, a Sindarin word meaning beloved or dear home with mélamar as its Quenya cognate. Mélamar means emotional home, often meant as distinct to where one actually lives

I think a lot about the need for these words and their place in the story. Of all the places abandoned or whose inhabitants were forced to flee or who chose to undergo a journey or something in between going back to the Waters of Cuiviénen.

Beleriand is wide and houseless for exiles, Morwen says in The Children of Húrin and she knows, as do so man,y that having a physical home, even a cherished one, doesn’t take away the loss that comes from being forced to flee.

Even for those who were not driven out or otherwise left, their home can still cease to be the home of their hearts- like for the Telerin survivors of the first kinslaying who will always remember when the beloved white walls of Alqualondë were soaked in blood, or Aerin and the other Hadorians, who were imprisoned in the lands they grew up in and, in addition to the devastating interpersonal and cultural trauma, had to watch as changes in agricultural, forestry, and other resource gathering methods drastically altered the physical landscape.

hi this drives me crazy

  • canon is what happens in the text. e.g. merlin tries to poison morgana
  • a headcanon is a fact that you have personally made up as an elaboration of canon. it is your invention. e.g. i think morgana and gwen had a teenage lesbian situationship before the events of canon. or, i think modern morgana would love evanesence.
  • an interpretation is how one reads the existing text. it is not an invented fact nor is it a headcanon, it is a reading. e.g. i think merlin tries to poison morgana out of misplaced self-hatred. or, i think that one line was delivered with suppressed malice and shows a nuanced relationship.
  • fanon is the general fandom’s accepted headcanons and interpretations that elaborate or recontextualize canon. e.g. merlin is a badass waif and morgana is a bitch.
  • these are all different words with different meanings.

Maglor and a panther! It's mostly just for the aesthetic but it's also bc I cannot stand when people treat this man like a lil uwu bean. Dude can and and has committed atrocities. Thus, large sneaky carnivore.

thinking about “you haven’t met all the people who will love you” and like!!! you also haven’t found all the things that will make you happy!!!! there will always be new authors and musicians and artists whose work you will one day discover and love!!!! there will always be new hobbies and skills for you to learn and feel fulfilled by!!! there will always be new things around the corner that will bring sudden and unexpected happiness!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon Fingon, do it already, Arien is about to rise. Maedhros may look slightly dead from down there, but he will be fine. You just need to... cut off his hand?? There is no better option, really. C'mon Fingon. Time is up.

Fingon in @papita474 's style!!!! Don't know if you remember you once told me to try drawing your Fingon in my style. Here it is!!!!
