Idk how to fully explain it but something I noticed in ww id that even after learning that their world is fake it dosent stop the people in it to still treat each other in the role that they were assigned on
My best example would be shun day and the fact that even tho shes the first to know about artemus and ww she still calls invidia her aunt and amy her cousin. While im at amy, even after she gets her powers she still refers to razzia as“dad”. My point is even tho they know their life is fake it dosent stop them from viewing their relationship as real (wish technically they are since they spent 1 actual year together)
All if this does not apply to gryf and shimy, because they get all their memories back, its unclear what happened to their fake memories. And even if they are still there they are constantly fighting with their original memories. Shimy first reaction upon getting her memories back was isolating herself and gryf was to attack the people around him.
Neither of them can fulfill the memory of who they used to be, because both, their personalities and their memories wont let them. I feel its especially bad for shimy since she changes so much in both personality and appearance. Same goes for gryf actually
theirs a difference between being told your word is fake vs having someone you know change species
I had a tough about it before since i was obsessing over solaris and gryf and thinking how weird it must have been for everyone to just have lost an elemental elf. Like they cant even pretend its the same cause someone dosent fully remember who they where. What got me to get back to it is finding a cut concept where danael confesses that even tho he knows their words is fake, in his mind he still been married to shimy for 8 years

Both the people that shimy and gryf had any form of relationship to turns completely one sided by default, because they don’t have the same memories. And its also fucked up from their side because the people that they did have a relationship with don’t remember them (shimy is faced with all her close firend and the girl that died and she feels the most guilty of
