spiderverse au where steve, the original dimension’s spider-man, dies and robin, who has been bit by the interdimensional spider, is left to pick up the pieces of both her life and spider-man’s after she takes up the moniker to protect the city and carry on her best friend’s legacy.

but☝️! she doesn’t have to do it alone. the interdimensional spider society heard about steve’s death and robin’s new hero status, and sends a spider to her dimension to train her (and to scope out how this all happened... the mystery of a second spider-person in one dimension). problem is… it’s steve. a little older, sure, and definitely different from her steve. but it’s him. it's not him, but it's him all the same.

and robin? robin is juggling her own responsibilities, spider-man training, making sure her relationships don’t fall apart, making sure she doesn’t fall apart (for the city. for the city. for the city.), and the knowledge that, once her training is complete, steve is going to leave again. sure, she knows about the spider society between dimensions - but he won’t be here.

and she doesn’t know how to deal with that.

Anonymous asked:

How do you think a drunk Robin and a drunk Nancy would be like?

And how do you think Robin and Nancy would take of the other while she's drunk?

(I had like a bazillion paragraphs worth of a response typed out and Tumblr had decided it was gonna glitch and delete everything I had written and then it rotted in the bottom of my drafts until now bc i forgot all about it.

So so sorry this took so long!)

Ooooh I love this

Okay. So let’s go for Nancy first since we see her drink in the actual show… I think, unlike the seemingly popular assumption that she’s an ‘angry’ drunk, is an honest drunk. I believe that she bottles up so much stuff during her day-to-day life in the hopes of seeming normal or put-together and when she drinks all her inhibitions lower to absolutely nothing and everything comes out at once. In my oneshot She Drives Me Crazy, I dive into this part of her and show what it would look like if she got drunk with a big secret that not even she understands (Being in love with Robin but not fully understanding it, so she misinterprets it and assumes she’s just pissed off because Robin is ‘out of Steve’s league’). And the pt 2 to that fic is gonna go even more in depth into it…

I think Nancy is also a dancer, but only with her friends and not in a way that will draw any attention to her. She’ll dance with Steve or Jonathan anytime they go out without even thinking twice but she shies away from Robin at first, maybe because she’s aware that, while drunk, she won’t be able to hide her feelings for Robin as easily if they’re pressed against each other on the dance floor. She mostly sticks with people she knows, trying her best to convince everyone she is not as drunk as she actually is.

Robin definitely comes out of her shell when she drinks. She’s not the life of the party, per-say, but she’s definitely interacting in some way with every single person in her vicinity. You thought her rambling was bad when she’s sober? Oh, just wait until you see her drunk. She completely loses what little bit of a filter she has. She’s insulting douchebags, showering beautiful women with compliments… But, unlike Nancy, she’s not a completely honest drunk. At least once, you could definitely catch her regaling an entire audience of people with a story that’s at least 89% made up.

I think she’d only willingly dance with Steve, and she tried to dance with Nancy but gets rejected too often to really force herself to try again. She definitely still has that bit of lingering guilt about being ‘predatory’ if she dances with a woman, because she assumes that woman doesn’t know that Robin could see her as more than just a friend, but if a pretty woman comes to her and asks for a dance she has absolutely no willpower. I also think she’d playfully flirt with Nancy, acting as if it’s a joke, because she just can’t stop herself. The guilt just eats her alive when she sobers up, along with her embarrassment over all the things she said and did.

I think Nancy would try to put Robin on a short leash when she’s more sober than her, making sure she isn’t wandering off and embarrassing herself. She’d let Robin ramble at her, all red-cheeked and glossy-eyed, and try not to think about the fact that she’s the only person who can hold a drunk-Robin’s attention for so long. Robin would have a sixth sense for when Nancy is being a ‘fun-drunk’ vs a ‘coping drunk’. As in, she can tell when Nancy’s drinking is because she’s having fun with her friends vs when she’s drinking to make herself forget. And when that happens, she always puts her own drink down and sticks by Nancy’s side, even if it pisses Nancy off in the process. She takes every single one of Nancy’s hateful words to her chest without even blinking, sits with her until the pain subsides, and never ever abandons her when she’s at her most vulnerable (*ahem* 👀).

Btw it’s canon in my mind that after college, Robin takes a gap year, gets an apartment in Hawkins, and has a job lined up to teach French at the highschool. A few weeks after school starts, she ends up going out to a bar with Vickie and sleeps with a random woman. Turns out, that woman is the wife of one of the most powerful men, from one of the most influential families, in town.

The woman shows up a few days later to warn Robin that her husband found out and it’s only a matter of time before things get dangerous and everyone knows.

But Steve has a solution. He asks her to (platonically) marry him because ‘his family name will protect her’ more than the other guy’s family name could tear her down. It works out well enough. Even when the rumors start, they’re buried underneath the news that Hawkins’ golden boy finally chose a bride.

It makes Robin sick. Both with guilt for taking Steve’s dreams of a white-picket family and kids away from him and also anger because of how the world treats people like her. But Steve can’t imagine any ending happier than marrying his best friend.

When the wedding comes, everything goes perfectly. Except while Robin and Steve are lounging in the bride’s room in their pjs, on their fifth champagne each and laughing at how ridiculous the situation is instead of getting dressed, the door slams open to reveal Nancy Wheeler, who looks like she just crawled out of the pits of hell— hair messy, eyes bloodshot, wearing rumpled clothes from the day before— who got on a plane the minute she heard about the wedding to beg Robin not to go through with it.

I do think the Hank Green AI thing makes it abundantly clear that if you have ADHD or any other mental illness and/or you are prone to addiction you need to avoid AI at all costs. This shit will rope you in, and if you have a mental illness that say, starves your brain of dopamine, you're gonna be extra susceptible to that. I won't use AI for a lot of reasons but one of the big ones is knowing how it would fuck with my ADHD and bipolar. Like yes, it's bad for the environment and giving money to rich scumbags and runs on plagarism, but even more than all that, it's straight up not safe at all and you really shouldn't use it if for no other reason than to protect yourself from whatever the fuck it might do to you.

i hate how much people care about their ships being "canon" now. spirk fans didn't publish zines full of fanfics in the 70s only for modern fandom to grovel at the knees of corporations and beg for things to be canon. use your imaginations, don't allow billionaires to think for you.

Robin Buckley is my absolute favorite character but I just realized if I met her irl i would lose my mind. Cuz people continually talking my ear off while I’m trying to do something/have shown clear disinterest in what they’re saying actually makes me want to throw myself out of a window.

ronance au where nancy and robin are both highschool teachers, fresh out of college in boston and teaching highschool freshmen in their first year

nancy is a math teacher, teaching primarily algebra 2 and precalculus. while both of those arent technically freshman classes they have a large enough number of students ahead in math that she ends up teaching a lot of freshmen including mike (her brother who does not want people to know theyre siblings and makes it incredibly obvious) and his dnd party, including max and el and occasionally erica when they need and extra player and can convince her to drop in from the middle school

robin teaches advanced english and latin because she got a degree in linguistics, thought the dead language was interesting, and wound up taking on basically whatever classes the school needed filled leaving her with one freshman english class, two periods of latin (1 + 2), and whatever AP classes they needed covered for the upperclassmen. max ends up being in both her english class and latin (on accident though she stays for robin and el who took it on purpose with dustin and will, and lucas who may or may not have switched into that class because she spent the first week complaining about not having any friends in it)

steve is also in the english department, teaching primarily freshmen, assistant coaching basketball when he can, sponsoring way too many clubs, and also teaching health. dustin takes a crazy liking to him and gets him to sponsor at least two extra nerdy clubs, lucas knows him from basketball, and everyone knows he’s robins best friend

jonathan is nancy’s version of steve un the math department, he teaches geometry and everyone hopes to get him for class, he also sponsors photography club meetings twice a week and is very obviously one of nancy’s closest friends and all the kids love him

it starts out pretty simple. robin and nancy dont know each other, nancy and jonathan break up around the middle of college and have found common ground by the start of the story, but rumors are constantly circulating about nancy and jonathan dating or robin and steve dating, eventually max (thinking robin is too cool for steve) tries to figure out whether steve and robin are dating through nancy who knows steve and is oddly jealous whenever she sees robin around with steve even though nancy hasnt felt that way for steve in years

obviously nancy wouldnt ever try to figure out whether or not theyre dating for a student but she’s convinced herself that this question just happens to have piqued her interest and it has nothing to do with robin’s number burning a hole in her phone since she got it during professional development because they were both brand new and went to school in boston because while robin is, objectively, hot nancy DOSENT feel like that about her

eventually max, el, and the others comes to realize that robin is absolutely gay and when they start seeing robin and nancy hanging around more for whatever reason they come to the conclusion that they must get them together

leading to oblivious ronance, elumax + erica hijinx especially, and scheming with the whole party (and eventually jon and steve)

robin getting drunk: ouhhhh boy i hope nancy puts a leash on me someday

Okay hear me out.

Medieval AU where Jonathan, a kitchen hand, overhears Prince Steve boasting about his skills and prowess in horsemanship, meaning to impress a very uncomfortable-looking Princess Nancy, who he is in the process of becoming betrothed to. And Jonathan can’t keep his mouth shut, thinking that a lot of what Steve says is absolute horseshit, and says some things he shouldn’t.

Steve doesn’t back down, putting Jonathan down in the process, saying just him being a Prince with access to training and mentors and fine horses makes him leagues above what Jonathan could ever be even with pure skill. Then he tries to explain: he just thinks Princess Nancy deserves the best husband in the lands, is all. He was merely assuring her that that was precisely what she had.

Nancy gets a sparkle in her eye at that and suggests a competition to find out who really would be the best husband. Her mother, the Queen, sees her plan and immediately allows it.

Steve will compete in a series of races for Nancy’s hand, competing against Jonathan as well as the rest of the surrounding kingdoms’ best riders, taking place across several months. Jonathan is livid to be involved, at first, but recognizes that this could be his big break. His opportunity to become King and pull his family out of the poverty they’ve lived in all his life. And, honestly, he’s just competitive as hell and wants to rub Steve’s face in the dirt.

In the first race, they both nearly tie for first place. Until an unknown, cloaked competitor completely overtakes them, taking advantage of the fact that they’ve tired out their horses by pushing them to the limits in order to keep pace with each other.

Little do they know, this months-long competition was cooked up because Princess Nancy is head-over-heels for one of the stable-hands, Robin, who, coincidentally, has never lost a race.
