I can imagine them making him have a stronger immune system but even with how advanced the surgeries were, I think it's impossible to make it so someone can never get sick... imagine him getting a little cold. awww... imagine him sneezing
I think the first time he got sick it was actually kinda enjoyable. he's never felt like that before, and he honestly enjoyed the negative sensations he felt... something new and unfamiliar, giving him feelings he wouldn't feel otherwise. so maybe he's a bit happy in the same way he was in chapter 0 and when he got shot. but any time after that first, it just becomes a nuisance... he knows what to expect now. boring
