hi I’m broken over W&P. Here is Pierre POV of Nikolusha, his bff's son
Blake DeLong (off-Broadway Andrey/Bolkonsky) is in my workplace harassment training video??
Your coworker, Prince Andrey, just returned from a prolonged leave of absence and the first thing he says when he sees you is “well, how are you, still getting stouter?” Does this constitute a hostile workplace environment yes/no.
Favorite Performers!
I asked if people would be interested in hearing my top three favorite performers for each role in Great Comet across the seven productions and one concert performance I've seen and you said yes! Without further adieu here they are. Honorable mentions will be made for performers I have not seen, but have seen some form of recordings, etc. because I don't feel like I can judge them equally. Note that it's been years since I have revisited old audios and clips and stuff so the HMs may be missing some notables. Please do not be mad your fave isn't on here but feel free to recommend performances I should check out!
Pierre: Okieriete Onaodowan (Broadway), Declan Bennett (London), Adam Furgal (UArts) HM: Dave Malloy, Scott Stangland (Broadway)
Natasha: Denee Benton (Broadway), Chumisa Dornford-May (London), Julia Kim Caldwell (54 Below) HM: Phillipa Soo (Off-Broadway), Shoba Narayan (Broadway u/s)
Sonya: Brittain Ashford* (Broadway), Maimuna Memon (London), Jalyn Johnson (NYFA) HM: Ashley Perez Flanagan (u/s Broadway)
Marya Dmitrievna: Grace McLean (Broadway), Louise Pitre (Toronto), Samantha Pohly (Yale). HM: Lulu Fall (Broadway u/s), Nabia Villela (Brazil)
Anatole: Lucas Steele (Broadway), Julian Perez (UArts), George Krissa (Toronto) HM: Blaine Alden Krauss (Broadway u/s)
Hélène: Amber Gray (Broadway), Bex Odorisio (54 Below), Cat Simmons (London) HM: Divine Brown (who I did see, actually), Lulu Fall (Broadway u/s), Kennedy Caughell (Broadway u/s)
Dolokhov: Daniel Krikler (London) (though I do feel he should've played Anatole), Manik Choksi (Broadway), Lawrence Libor (Toronto)
Andrey/Bolkonsky: Ben Heller (Yale), Nicholas Belton (Broadway), Erich Phelps (Emerson). TBH So many productions fumble Andrey so bad from a directorial standpoint, this was really hard. HM: Blake DeLong (Off-Broadway)
Mary: Gelsey Bell* (Broadway), Courtney Bassett (Broadway u/s), Chloe Saracco (London) HM: Shaina Taub (Off-Broadway replacement), Julia Ty Goldberg (54 Below, who I did see but didn't get to do enough of the material for me to get a full read on)
Balaga: Paul Pinto (Broadway), Jarrett Winters Morley (54 Below), Cedric Neal (London)
*I'm making an exception for Brittain and Gelsey who I did not see on Broadway, because I have seen them perform live several times and I feel like I do know their performances well enough to speak for them
might make a top 3 post of my favorite performers for all the roles in comet (out of the 7 productions I’ve seen, maybe supplemented w the audios I’ve collected) would that interest people
i'm working on this post and i have it mostly down but i have two questions. 1) is it weird to put college performances on my list? 2) are people going to like be offended I left off xyz performer do we think
I really like this russian edition of classic books. Letting famous artists do the covers in YA style was such a simple but clever decision. According to the recent study the number of teenage readers increased, possibly thanks to these covers. I own traditional classics with blank covers but if I ever see one of these in the wild, it’ll probably make me go feral.
Here are some of my favs:

Just counting casts I’ve actually seen I don’t think I have 3 Marya Dmitrievnas that made a positive impression on me. Or three Pierres.
getting older is funny because characters you used to look up to and see as very established and grown up people are like 29
1. Manga wap is a thing
2. They support Tsapoleon in manga wap
As some as you probably know I have a spreadsheet where I track upcoming and past Comet productions. Between being in the busy season at work and a death in my family, I haven’t really had the time or energy to update it. I was hoping to see if there was someone who would be willing to help me with the updates, at least until things slow down for me. I would really appreciate it. Much love to you all.
!!!!
Re: your last post, wondering who your favourite Anatole you’ve seen is? I’m partial to George Krissa in the Toronto production, but that’s the only one I’ve seen live. He was just so effortlessly stupid and sexy in a fun very Anatole way.
It might be the boring answer (since he was the original and also the first one I saw) but I’ve yet to see anyone who has lived up to Lucas Steele’s enormous talent and charm!
George Krissa was delightful though! I really enjoyed his performance too. And his….him. Mwah.
