as you may know, i had been managing a gofundme for @save-mohamed-family and sending him the donations for a while. gofundme shut down that campaign recently despite me sending them all the necessary documentation because ive had to send money to his friend for him to pick up due to an issue with his bank account, and gofundme isnt willing to take time to work with customers whose infrastructure has been destroyed because theyre in a genocide and war zone.

this is another campaign for mohammed and his family, so please donate if you can. there was around $2000 in donations to be transferred before they shut down my gofundme, and it really sucks that it hasnt reached him. if you donated to mohammeds old gofundme earlier you might have gotten your donations returned.

Shinjuku Boys, a 1995 documentary by Kim Longinotto and Jano Williams, follows three 'onabe' protagonists navigating their transmasc identities while working Tokyo's rough nightlife industry.

Starring three "onabes", which is a word for women or AFAB people who act and identify with traditional masculine standards, Shinjuku Boys is an hour-long film about the covert world of transgender, gender non-conforming, and various sexual minorities during the 90s in Japan. The self-identified "onabes", Tatsu, Kazuki, and Gaish, are hosts who work at the club New Marilyn.

Onabe, or "stew pot," is a now-outdated term that originated in the 1970s to describe masculine-presenting queer assigned-female-at-birth individuals, ranging from butch lesbians and professional cross-dressers to nonbinary people and transgender men.

The documentary explores the three hosts' personal lives, complex relationships with their bodies, gender identities, strained attempts at communicating with their families, and the realities of working at the New Marilyn.

Shinjuku Boys is a documentary probing into the queer nightlife of Shinjuku in the mid-90s. It is a film by Kim Longinotto, a British filmmaker who creates heart-stopping documentaries about gender equality and the reality of women around the world, and Jano Williams, an equally accomplished British journalist who dedicated vears of her career to Japan.
