maybe if you had read every post i have ever made you would have correctly interpreted the tone of my post

I think being literal is a plague in music right now. I don’t really want to hear songs that refer to concepts like “emotional labor” or “narcissism” by name. Step around the issue. Make me feel it from an angle that isn’t purely expository!

Yesterday I heard a song that went (with not as much exaggeration as you would think) "you can get into my car. It's a BMW 350 with a 3.0-liter inline six and optional leather trim and a manual transmission and it can drive on the road or the highway because I have a license to drive my car. you can get into the passenger seat which is where a passenger goes because I want you to get into my car. and we can go to Berlin or Hamburg or Osnabrück or Recklinghausen or Mülheim an der Ruhr in my car. my car is very fast. do you want to be in my car" and then I found out the singer is from New York, and if this was written by someone German it would be kind of understandable because that's just how Germans are, but it wasn't.

watched a documentary about the history of art a couple days ago where a guy transitioned seamlessly from talking about 18th century realism to the beginnings of surrealism, impressionism and eventually abstract expressionism without once mentioning the invention of photography. it was utterly bizarre. it was like watching Friends when 9/11 happened and it just didnt happen on the show

i understand when youre doing a "history of art" documentary you have limited time to address little details and minor movements like idk, the Vienna Seccession or the ashcan school or whatever. but photography? and he literally did just start talking about impressionism like "gee who knows why artists suddenly lost a lot of interest in capturing literal or at least representative depictions of what they could see with their eyeballs. who knows why it suddenly wasnt very profitable to pursue mostly portraiture anymore. everyone just suddenly decided to start painting more blobs and then eventually cubes. perhaps it was simply time" can you imagine being 10 years old watching something like this lol why would you write your show this way.

this is actually a really good example of what i keep talking about wrt "art' being both unintentionally and intentionally framed as non-material by capitalism. it's why they mostly dont let working artists teach art school or make art history documentaries, the punters get scared when you tell them artists did something a certain way because they had to make rent. and going by the statistics i keep seeing about how the wealthy are apparently 99% of the working artist class at this point, it would make sense that there are class reasons to maintain this narrative

anyone wanna open a store or something?

my idea for this store is we have 3 big fridges for gatorade and i sell them at one cent cheaper than the 7-11 across the street. this is the biggest draw and i have banners outside proclaiming my gatorade is cheaper. i make no other renovations to the interior of the building.

other features include a couple of foldable tables and chairs, a box of jenga that’s missing pieces, and 37 national geographic magazines from the 1990s. all free to use at your leisure.

you can smoke in here, but only with the cigarettes i’ve bummed from strangers elsewhere and only using lighters i’ve found on the ground. inventory is extremely limited.

i do sell coffee for $2 a cup, but it’s just keurig pods. if you bring your own keurig pod, it’s a quarter.

there will be a rack of old t-shirts from my closet that i can’t wear anymore. these will be sold on a “name-your-price” basis, but if i can tell you’re rich, they’re $50 apiece.

i’ll be there in a lawn chair reading the odyssey or otherwise brushing up on my greek mythology narratives, but you can’t ask me about anything in the text because i won’t remember.

there will be a coffee can on the ground next to me with a note that reads “advice $5.” i will provide a disclaimer that i cannot attest to the quality of the advice or the level of my own intelligence but only after you put a fiver in the can. ask your question and follow the advice at your own peril.

on friday nights, there will be a cover charge of $10, and i will affix a disco ball to the ceiling with duct tape and play grouper’s seminal 2008 album dragging a dead deer up a hill from my phone.

posted hours are 2 pm to 12 am, but these are merely ceremonial. the store will be open whenever i feel like it.

bathroom is free to use for customer and non-customer alike.

Can I be honest. I think the world may have had enough of American poets writing pieces about how it's weird to go about daily life while your government commits genocide abroad. I don't know if anyone needs to do another one of those

in all fairness it really is a bizarre/depressing/powerless feeling and it's not weird to explore that through art. But at some point it really just starts to feel like navel gazing. Like are these really the experiences and viewpoints we need to be centering right now
