Suggestions???????????
Update numero uno
I have decided that before University goes back on Monday, I need to get my LJ in order and updated. It’s pretty sad that it’s been a year since I updated my userinfo (and even then, I wasn’t bothered and just wrote two lines), and it’s been two years since I put up my “IM ON HOLIDAY” banner. I am definitely not on holiday anymore.
So, my aims are thus:
(1) Update LJ userinfo/interests, etc including icons
(2) Find new layout & make new banner (hehe, sad, since I don’t have photoshop anymore)
(3) Update LJ on my current life status: living, working, breathing
(4) Remember to do things on my 100000 to do lists
(5) Make journal specific entries on fun things that have happened to me
I also need to figure out why LJ is no longer sending me notifications: if anyone has tried to contact me during my long absence, I apologise!
Additionally, since I’m about to update my interests and etc, if you find you no longer want me on your flist, feel free to defriend. Alternatively, let’s catch up! I MISS YOU ALL. L
Not dead!
I am, however, alive!
I will be back updating soon ----

1. Receiving feedback on an assignment I felt was ridiculously impossible and ending up feeling stupendously dumb
2. Going to a funeral
3. Going to prayers
Things I do not want to spend tomorrow doing:
1. Going to prayers.
It's been six months since I was last subjected to my absolute fear of death, and people in coffins. Last night a close family friend died after almost five years of struggling with brain cancer. He was a really fantastic man who I didn't know too well, but I know his kids very well, and I know how close a family they were. My parents were very close with him, and his wife, and spent the last two weeks going to the hospital every day to visit him, and struggling not to be devastated by his horrendous decline. I can't even imagine how horrible it must be to wake up and be unable to move, unable to think, and to not know what is going on at all.
Uuuurgh.
Vague update...
1. On Tuesday, my aunt is going to climb Mt. Everest. I am still at O_O.....
2. Still at uni....still don't have a job! Failed to secure a vacation clerkship for this year!
3. Heading to South Africa from Nov 11-22 to visit the family! I feel like I should pay a bit extra and travel around a bit, instead of what I know will be lots of sitting around drinking Rooibos =) But yay family!
(a) However! VERY concerned about leaving my cat....I'm overly dependant on my cat, I swear. It's quite sad!
(b) Also, the trip coincides with the release of Harry Potter - every year I've gone to see it with a certain friend! IT WILL BE SAD.
4. Hopefully will be heading to Singapore in January to see SUPER JUNIOR (yay)....but this is dependant on cheap prices, which is unlikely!
5. Missed most of Merlin season 2 (did not enjoy the vicious ARTHUR AND GWEN TRU LUV episodes, though I'm not opposed to it in general), but was super thrilled to watch Season 3!
6. EXCITED FOR CASTIEL, lemme tell you.
ROAD RAGE YAY
I think one day, either
(a) Someone is going to slice and dice me/whack me with a baseball bat; or
(b) I'm going to absolutely pummel someone with the weapons in my car (read: umbrella; bottle of windscreen cleaner)
My road rage is reaching epic proportions. My family are no longer willing to listen to my "TODAY ON THOMAS STREET--" stories.
I swear my car has a big red sign painted on it that says "MORON DRIVERS, PLEASE ALL CONGREGATE IN FRONT OF ME/BEH
Todays fun stories include:
- An L plater driving 50 in a 70 zone and holding up the peak hour morning traffic
- An older couple almost ramming straight into me - I had a green turning arrow, they were on the other side of the road and wanted to turn in the same direction and had no turning arrow. THEY SAW ME TURN. And they turned anyway. Almost right into me.
That was in the space of about 30 minutes. That was a good day.
I am currently at University, where I have been since 830am...it's now 11am...I'm SO BORED. I don't have class until 4pm.
ADDITIONALLY - MY LAPTOP IS BROKEN. GONE.
It's been a while!
I think it's quite possible my dad is going to kill me one of these days, aka how I broke 2 laptops
In January, I bought a $500 crappy computer off ebay to serve as my backup laptop/uni laptop as it has 8 hr battery life and is super light and not much else....and shortly after that, my usual laptop started overheating and bit the dust.
So after much complaining, my dad took it to his work (he fixes TVs/DVD/VCR/etc, etc and is basically a genius in everything) to try and see if it was just the fan, or something else. It was the fan -- and the laptop parts are no longer in existence, and his jerry-rigging meant goodbye laptop. So, fine, I still had my backup crappy laptop....
Until I tried to turn it on in a lecture yesterday, and nothing happened. And continued to not turn on when I got home, and tried my charger (despite having charged it the night before, and turned it on that morning successfully), my sisters charger....and then it suddenly would turn on while plugged in...but gave me the message of "97% plugged in, not charging". Which I interpreted (due to trying multiple chargers) as the battery having issues.
I used google-fu! I downloaded driver updates! I tried things! And still nothing. So I made my dad phone Acer this morning (while I was at volunteering/uni) to see if there was a battery problem (apparently the American versions of this laptop did have battery issues, according to my google-fu) and the only thing they could recommend was installing new drivers for windows 7....or buying a new battery.
So he did a nice fatherly thing, and ordered me a new battery..for $100...
I've just turned on my laptop again (to see if it works).
It works. He's going to kill me.
