Hello everyone

I'm just checking in to see if I've missed any postings/challanges. I know we were going to start again and I did promise to check in and keep up with the community! I'm not trying to be pesty :) I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything.

I have been checking, I don't see anything since february. I just want to make sure lj isn't wonky and I'm not seeing something.

admin: moderator added

guinan has graciously agreed to help me moderate and keep this community going.

I apologize for my absence, and there are characters waiting to be added and I promise I will get to that by tomorrow night. My personal life is in flux, as my husband's company has been sold and we are facing relocating to Los Angeles after 24 years here in Miami. Thank you for your support and participation. Let's see if we can breathe some life back into it!

*hugs*

Red alert and embarrassing moments

This is going to be embarrassing and the last thing I need is to get laughed at for it. But we went to Red Alert for about the nineteenth time this week, due mostly to the close proximity to the Neutral Zone.

Unfortunately, the problem was that I was in the head, and the klaxon's been disconnected in there for about two months. When I didn't show up to my post, they sent a security team into my quarters to look for me.

DeSalle found me all right. But he found me in the showers...naked...in the throes of passion...with Spock...also naked.

Anybody who said Vulcans don't have emotions have never seen one blush. Between mine and his, we must have looked like advertizing for Christmas.

DeSalle stumbled out of the bathroom backwards, mumbling something about the red alert.

Spock and I grabbed our clothing and went off to duty. And as I'm sitting here, I'm assured that DeSalle won't talk about it, since he'd prefer not to think about it. But I sure wish I hadn't accidently taken Spock's underwear. He's experimenting with thongs this week.

Traditions?

Having recently been reminded of the anniversary of my birth, or as humans refer to them "birth days", I was asked what do I do to commemorate it?

When I was a child, I had the usual birthday parties, you know too much cake, gifts and of course the obligatory dozen or so of over stimulated, sugar fed friends to drive my parents to drink. hehehe, a tradition I continued with my children. Much to my Parents dismay, here they thought they were done.

ha

As a young adult, birthdays were a more grown-up affair. Large amounts of alcoholic beverages, and loud music, announcing to any and all it's my big day. Gifts were something you got from family and maybe a significant other if you had one at the time, the main idea was to have such a good time, that it would all be kind of a blur the next morning (or when ever you finally sobered up).

Now as I am ::cough::: a bit more mature. I find that birthdays are a more subdued affair. I find the gift of being remembered much more valuable than a store bought gift or a drink being offered up. If I can get through the day, with a few heartfelt wishes, maybe a slice of cake I'm happy.

If one of my children should happen to remember unprompted I'm ecstatic! ::chuckle::

So how do *you* traditionally celebrate your birthday?

Kasidy (red)

Hello!

Hello, everyone! Greetings from the Bajor sector. I'm Kasidy Sisko, captain of the freighter Xhosa, resident of the Federation starbase Deep Space Nine. Some of you may know my husband Ben. It's good to see so many names and faces that I recognize.

What did I do this summer? Well, first of all, I hadn't realized it was the end of summer on Earth. It's early spring in the Kendra Province on Bajor where my stepson and I are building a house. Odd, how humans have become so spread out that we forget such simple things about our home planet. But I guess that's life in the 24th century.

But to answer the question, let's see: This summer I got married. Then I found out I was pregnant. Then the Dominion War ended, but before we could celebrate properly my husband went off to join the aliens who live in the Bajoran wormhole, for an indeterminate length of time. Since then I've been keeping busy with cargo runs on my ship, and planning for the house Ben was going to build. I visited my mother on Earth, and I just got back from a supply trip to the reconstruction efforts on Cardassia and Betazed. And I discovered that Jake, my twenty year old stepson, makes better brownies than Ben did, which made me unaccountably homesick for Ben. Life's crazy that way sometimes....

So yes, I've been busy. I think I'll answer the questionaire, too, just in case it reveals something about me that will be indispensable in getting to know me. :) (Well, you never know, do you?)

Well, I hope that wasn't too long an introductory post. I'm very glad to be here!

Ah! I am terribly sorry. I have erred grievously! I leaped straight in with both feet without giving anyone any clue as to who I was!

My mistake. I'm sorry, I'm terribly absent-minded.

So: Hello all! My name is Ezri Tigan Dax, as you've probably gathered. I'm a lieutenant junior grade aboard the Federation space station Deep Space Nine. I'm also a counsellor, so any time you need advice, I'm your Trill!

You may also know me from one of my previous hosts -- Curzon or Jadzia. Please note that while I have memories from the two mentioned, I am NOT either Curzon or Jadzia. I am Ezri. Yes, Ezri Dax, but still Ezri. So please don't address me as Jadzia -- I'm confused enough already!

Thank you!

A Letter

[An OOC Note:
As you will see, I like to work challenges into things that my muse would do every day -- as shown below, where this week's challenge is answered in the form of a letter to a friend.]

Recipent: Captain Elias Boday
Starship
Malinche
Registry Number NCC-71142
Stardate 53046.4

Dear Elias,

It was so good to hear from you! Thank you for writing to me -- it brightened up my day. I'm sorry I couldn't respond to your letter sooner; I've had a lot on my hands, as you will see.

What has kept me busy in recent months? Well, since the end of the Dominion War, my specialty has become very much in demand. (No, I'm talking about counselling, Julian Bashir.) I've seen countless patients over the past few months, with everything from light depression to suicidal fantasies. And just recently I've begun training a cadet who would like to become a counsellor -- Cadet Celes Kahti, an enthusiastic Bajoran boy. (If the name sounds familiar, you're probably thinking of his sister, Ensign Celes Tal, who was lost in the Delta Quadrant several years ago with the Voyager.) So my work has been keeping me pretty busy.

And, of course, Julian and I went to Risa last month. That was a lot of fun. We ran into the ex-Grand Nagus -- that's a Ferengi monarch -- and his girlfriend, who have become permanent residents there. I saw some of Curzon and Jadzia's old friends there as well, including a woman named Arandis (away from whom I was forced to drag Dr. Bashir, due to the new craze of two-piece bathing suits on Risa).

Also, you requested that I fill in this questionnaire? (I'm not sure I see the point, but it seems like fun!)

1. Last Alcoholic Drink: Oooh -- probably that glass of spring wine that the Colonel insisted I try in Quark's last night. Would you believe that in all my nine lifetimes, I'd never had spring wine? I actually rather liked it.

2. Last Kiss: Julian, this morning as we both headed off to our respective jobs.

3. Last Good Cry: I cried for almost an hour when Nerys told me that the Destiny had been destroyed in the battle at Cardassia Prime. There were no survivors; the Jem'Hadar picked off the escape pods one by one. I lived on that ship for almost a year; I loved those people.

4. Last Book Read: Great Expectations, another of Jadzia's Dickens books.

5. Last Movie Holoprogram Seen: Julian and I visited that Spartan program last night. We lost -- as usual. He really should see a counsellor about these annihilation fantasies of his....

6. Last Cuss Word: I try not to swear; when I do, it's rather mild -- "Oh, Prophets!"

7. Last Food Eaten: Bolian apples and Terran peanut butter, something Julian said his mother always used to fix for him as a snack. It was surprisingly delicious.

8. Last Communication: Kahti called me a few moments ago to ask if the Colonel likes roses. I think the poor boy has a crush on her.

9. Last item bought: A pillowcase, from Garak. Rather mundane, I know....

10.Last Annoyance: My sonic shower broke down this morning, so I came to work smelling like Julian's socks. (Okay, it wasn't *quite* that bad....)

11.Last Disappointment: The Colonel can't come to Vic's tonight -- too many status reports. Though I think poor Kahti is more disappointed than I am.

12.Last Sleep: Last night.

Anyhow, it was good to hear from you, Elias. Drop by next time you're in the Bajoran sector. I'll treat you to a glass of spring wine and a plate of apples with peanut butter! :)

Sincerely,
Lt. Junior Grade Ezri Tigan Dax
