Man, I sure haven't updated in a long time. Wait, how many of my posts have I begun with a similar sentence? Hmmmm...

So I got Devil May Cry 3. Yeah, it's been out for quite a bit but it's pure, unadulterated fun. Somehow, Uppercutting a baddie with an oversized sword, only to blast said baddie with a stream of unlimited ammo from two pistols just doesn't get old. I also got Dragon Quest 8. MAN have I been waiting to get that game for a long time. I've loved all the other DQ/DW games, but this one is by far the best I've played. I'll still miss the job/class system though :( Played the Final Fantasy XII demo as well. Meh. As with most FF games I've played, the story and production values seem great, but the gameplay doesn't impress me too much.

Brandie took her trip to Eugene, Oregon and had lots of fun. It was great for her to be able to relax, but I wish I could have gone with her. Burlington Coat Factory, however has an unfortunate "Vacation Blackout" period spanning October 15th - January 2nd. Ouch. Luckily, I've survived relatively unscathed, and she had an awesome trip.

Finished Knife of Dreams the other day too. Good book. As much as I love the WoT series, I just don't know how the heck RJ is going to wrap it up in just one more book. There's WAY too much that needs to happen first.

Our good friend Ricky will (hopefully) be coming over tomorrow, and much fun will be had. In the meantime, more Devil May Cry 3 cheesy goodness.

hrmmmm... interesting assessment, Mr. Quiz. But I'm afraid you are quite incorrect on that point.

Lately I've been rather adventurous in exploring this little town I live in. There are these cool little shops and storefronts that have been right under my nose for years.

For example, last week I found this really cool little Indian Grocery just a mile and a half from my apartment. The store is rather small, but well-lit and ventilated, especially when compared to the Brandon Oriental Market (apples and oranges, I know.) Their prices on whole spices and condiments are awesome as well (packs of whole Green and Black Cardamom seeds for $3.99!!) The fact that they had ready-made Naan definitely sold me. I had decided the other day to try making Biryani but was a bit lazy and bought a ready-made Biryani paste.

Only two words can describe Shan™ brand Chicken Biryani paste- Blazing Saddles (or as Dad-in-Law calls it "Flamin' Horses.") I will definitely have to try making my own sometime, particularly since I didn't know Biryani to be a spciy dish. I have quite a fondness for spicy food, but I've gotta say that I really regretted toughing it out when morning came. I'll abstain from further details.

What really surprised me was the music they had playing. I had expected something similar to Shalimar, a restaraunt in downtown Tampa. You know, Bollywood musical stuff. Instead, they were blasting 95.7 FM, a decent hip-hop station with a woefully short playlist.

When I went to Kung Fu later that night, we were running through Dai Jing Kuen (it was just Brian, Celio and I, so our class was 1/4 of its usual size) when out of nowhere some hyperactive, acne-stricken teenager rushes in and squeals "Hey, do I have potential?"

Sifu Stephan looked him in the eye, smiled brightly and replied "No. No you don't." in his Quebec accent.

The youngster, not seeming surprised by this reply said "Kay," And went out the door shouting "Hey guys, he said I don't have any potential!"

An odd moment indeed.

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a problem

WOW! It's been a long time since I did the blog thing. Mar 23d? That's SOOO almost 7 months ago.

In that time I-
Braved the unwashed masses at an anime convention (fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, and I'll have to take a bleach-bath.)
Went to Siesta Key for the big 1-year wedding anniversary
Decided to go to college.
Discovered that I lacked the necessary paperwork, and the enrollment date went right by (again :\)
Was promoted to the position of Youth department manager.
Discovered that the raise for said promotion does not kick in for another 90 days (that was a week ago.) :(
Quit Job #2
Started missing the extra $30/week that Job #2 netted me.
Whittled away a few more titles from my "Games that I must beat in order to justify their purchase" list.
Saw the Ripley's Believe it or not museum.

More to come.

Tomorrow I'll be checking with my manager to see if we can sponsor the petition put forth by Jessica Lunsford's father, who proposes that offenders in sexual molestation cases be put away for 50 years with no parole. Sounds right to me :-D Especially considering that John Couey even once said "Prison won't help me."

I decided to edit this entry because my previous comments concerning the evidence that came to light after Mrs. Terri Schiavo's autopsy proved, for the most part, incorrect. Though my belief that a living will should be established and that there should be a majority consensus on the part of both sides of the family remains the same, I realize now that pulling the tube may not have been such a horrid thing. I didn't want to simply leave this blank, as I like to think I'm one who has no problem admitting I'm wrong. Anyway, that's about it.

Recommend to me:

1. a movie
2. a book
3. a musical artist, song, or album
4. a LiveJournal user not on my friends list
5. what I should have for dinner
6. a website
7. a quote

Then put this in your LJ and I'll do the same for you!

raising the roof, lowering the floor

With all that has been going on of late, time to update has been hard to find. I've found however that the introspection that comes with it is almost invaluable in the cause of preserving the tattered remains of my sanity.

:-D

Brandie and I have been discussing the subject of a house at some point. Prohibitively expensive considering our relative lack of financial security? But of course. Nigh-impossible? Probably. But we should give it the old still-haven't-gone-to-college try. Speaking of which, once we get everything figured out on our W-2's, we should be able to fill out the FAFSA paperwork. We probably won't get anything since the IRS has decided we had disposable income that we were just selfishly hoarding for ourselves, but again, it's worth a shot.

On the upside, Burlington Coat Factory has apparently had a pretty good year and I therefore got a raise. Go me, it's my birthday... well, not for another 23 days, but you know what I mean. I'm trying not to think too much about that though... the fact that I'll be 23 years old is just something that I'd rather not dwell on... I feel so old :-\

I hope I'll finally be able to attend college this year. I can hear my brain rusting and it scares me :-(

This week the trend was to borrow all the strength that you could lend...

to keep my head above the water and not descend...

man, I really don't post often :\

Work still continues on my uncle's book. It's rather tough helping him with it- it seems my mom's side of the family has the same streak of stubbornness as my dad's side. I really want to help him out on this, but it's tough when he calls me and tells me he's stuck on what should happen next, and I try to offer a few ideas, only to be met with a bland "Yeah... maybe we could do that." I am tempted at times to shout "then what the (not good word) do you need me for??"

But I cannot ignore the fact that this is an invaluable opportunity to practice and hone my writing skills without the frustration that normally results from writing my own stuff and therefore help me to be better able to write my own stuff *whew*

Looks like last year was a good year for Burlington Coat Factory so raises are coming up, good ones too :D w00t! or w007 if you prefer.

To celebrate Brandie and I are going to Shalimar Indian Restaurant for dinner before we go to the Josh Groban Concert. Should be fun :)

I know I'm going to be working off Vindaloo tomorrow. And the naan on Thursday.
