sorry i missed the gala of suitors i was outside picking on the weird girl in the garden tending to weird looking plants. yeah she had a little shack with a cauldron back there it was gross. anyways she gave me something to drink and now im madly in love with her so we need to start planning a wedding or whatever

Sorry I missed the crones' union meeting. The fuckingg princess showed up??? She wouldn't leave until I gave her a dr pepper. She got this really weird look in her eyes drinking it. I guess shes only used to beverages with 22 or fewer flavors

oooohh the love potion worked i cant believe you gave me a love potion im so in love its so effective lets make out

It fucks me up so much how trans girls can barely go a day in public without constant fear of being harassed, stalked, assaulted, or even killed just for fucking existing.

A trans girl friend of mine once told me that one of her dreams before she dies is to have one day where she can be herself out in public and go home at the end of day in peace. That's it.

How am I not supposed to be overwhelmed with rage and sadness over this?

Please please please TMEs, love the trans girls in your life. Many things we take for granted is a dream for her, and it'll stay that way if you don't do anything about it.

We'll never truly know the depths of her pains but we have to at least make it easier for her. Stand between her and anyone making her uncomfortable. Listen to her when she's scared, even if you don't understand. Hold her hand, if she wishes. Hug her. Walk her home. Offer it first, enthusiastically but gently, as she may not know she can even ask for it.

Please love her.

controversial statement on tumblr dot com: the women of a marginalized group have it worse than the men of a marginalized group

Also: the racialized people of a marginalized group have it worse worse than the white people of said group

I maintain that the best summation of my feminist beliefs are that men and women are not fundamentally different. There are a few quantifiable differences if you average out every woman and every man, but they are not qualitative. And most of them are socially constructed, and would be fixed if we started treating men and women the same. Neither is inherently smarter, neither is inherently kinder, neither is inherently more stoic or stronger or angrier or softer. Everyone is obsessed with the differences between women and men, with finding them and creating them and distancing themselves from the "other half". It's fucked up

Black ppl deserve to feel safe and welcomed on the internet, on fandoms on whatever community or hobbies they want without having to deal with antiblack racist attacks, microaggressions or enablers of antiblackness . And if u genuinely consider urself to be left leaning or an ally or woke you should do and try to unlearn the colorism, texturism , eurocentrism and antiblackness

why does every princess and soft girly character have to be white why always white do cute black girls scare you????!

im so sick of black women being represented in masc or dominant roles especially when they don't even present masc. why can't black girls just be soft and cute and desirable for once. why do white people get to have the gentle role.

let black girls be soft

the other thing that annoys me about the whole “oh but there’s so much misogyny in rap music!” type schtick is that like okay, if you actually gave a shit about that topic, you’d be looking at what Black women have to say about it. because they’re the ones who are equipped to make incisive, meaningful criticism on the matter and they absolutely do all the fucking time. but you don’t actually gaf about misogynoir you’re just making noise to justify your racism so ofc you aren’t even aware that this is absolutely a topic that people much more knowledgeable and involved than you are talking about. so just shut up man just shut up

one of my earliest video game memories was my neighbor from down the street burning me a copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon onto a CD and giving it to me for free, with the caveat that one day a week he would sit behind me and backseat game HARD. like "build this here, okay now build this here, no not there, HERE, okay now make a path here," etc etc. i never minded it at the time, i genuinely had no idea how to play so i thought he was teaching me. years later i learned that him and his family were Orthodox Jewish and him backseat gaming me was his way of getting around the Sabbath ban on playing video games

I've always written everything by hand before typing. Staring at a blank word document doesn't inspire the words to come.

But a blank paper and a blue pen and the words come at a steady pace.

There's a pretty damning commentary on this paper: https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/psychology/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2024.1517235/full

In short:

  • they didn't actually measure changes in learning; they measured theta waves which don't have a clear link to learning
  • They evaluated adults, not children
  • They didn't have participants do any encoding activities; they were mindlessly typing the same thing over and over
  • They didn't allow participants to actually type; they had them 'type' with one finger of their right hand, when there's plenty of evidence that using both hands while encoding information leads to increased brain activity.
  • They couldn't see what they were typing (no visual feedback), so any error-correction processes the brain would usually run were impaired
  • The handwriting part of the experiment was completely normal and representative of using handwriting to record information.
  • They didn't actually report the raw data or conduct any statistical analysis for the two parts of the experiment individually; only the differences between the two groups.

Honestly, that is....shockingly bad. Like I'm surprised this passed peer review and it makes me wonder about the journal. Of course educational science is a joke of a field anyway with little scientific rigour over the last 50 years, so maybe that's not surprising. But this sure as hell sounds like this researcher walked into this project already convinced that handwriting is better for children's learning than typing and screens, and then rigged an experiment to support that bias. If I were the editor I would retract the paper, not just include a link to the commentary.

When you point out that Rocky Horror is one of the most transmisogynistic films ever made, TMEs will tell you that it isn’t actually- and even if it is, it’s still so important to “the community” as an expression of genderfucky queer affirmation.

They always say “the community”, as if to implicitly exclude trans women from said community entirely without actually saying that. There is The Community and there is Trans Women.

This is transfeminism!
