I studied piano, then went to graduate school in philosophy. After finishing graduate school, I taught philosophy for several years at various colleges and Universities. I wrote a book on the philosophy of Spinoza, "Spinoza's Theory of Truth," which was published by Columbia University Press in 1972. I then wrote a series of articles on the philosophy oI Spinoza, and on the philosophy of performing art. I then left academia, and returned to the piano. I moved to Oregon, where for nine years I organized and performed in a chamber music series. I taught piano, learned to rehabilitate injured pianists, and wrote a book for pianists, "What Every Pianist Needs to Know about the Body," published in 2003. That was followed by a book about artistic performance, "Motion, Emotion, and Love: The Nature of Artistic Performance," published in 2012. It has not received a lot of attention (just one published review, in "American Music Teacher," April/May 2013) but readers comments have been enthusiastic./Users/thomasmark/Desktop/ThomasCarsonMarkPhoto.jpg /Users/thomasmark/Desktop/TMark.jpeg
