TN2030: A Data-Driven Vision for Tennessee Student Success

Are students prepared for careers that enable economic independence? Unfortunately, too few Tennessee students today are finding clear paths to opportunity and long-term success. Many leave school without the skills or credentials that open doors — not just to jobs but to careers that enable economic independence.

To address this, in 2024 we launched TN2030, a new vision for Tennessee student success rooted in data-driven goals. These ambitious but attainable goals will help our state ensure more Tennesseans are on clear pathways toward opportunity. This report encapsulates those goals.

The work leading to the TN2030 goals began with this question: What could happen if just one more student in every public school classroom across the state achieved key milestones each year?

This thought experiment, paired with the reality that too few Tennessee students are prepared for careers that lead to economic independence, led to the creation of TN2030. Fostering alignment across K-12, postsecondary education, and workforce efforts, TN2030 features shared goals that can lead to groundbreaking achievement.

TN2030 goals focus on third-grade ELA, seventh-grade math, postsecondary enrollment, and postsecondary completion — key milestones where student progress creates lasting opportunity in furthering education and careers.

The TN2030 Report, which is a companion to tn2030.org, includes:

  • A comprehensive overview of the TN2030 statewide goals, including the shared data-driven vision for student success.
  • The TN2030 approach, which includes a methodology rooted in a “one more student per classroom” pace.
  • A practical guide on how to use local data dashboards that highlight progress at the school district and institution levels.
  • An invitation to join the work as a TN2030 partner and share the initiative. When you join, you collaborate with fellow TN2030 partners and your broader community to take action that supports progress toward the goals.

These goals and local dashboards are tools designed to drive our entire state forward as we take action to support student success and prepare each student for a career that enables economic independence.

We invite education, business, policy, and community leaders to become a TN2030 partner today!
