I recently mentioned in a post that my eldest son would be losing his job with Verizon wireless in May when Verizon officially closes his call center. It's one of four that are presently being closed with another two expected before year's end. Many fast food places and sub shops have opened right near the call center and I had wondered what would happen to them with that loss in revenue.
Anyway, a good friend sent me an e-mail with a video link that explains the ripple effect of American companies out sourcing their products and services overseas. It's well done and concise. Worth a look. Maybe we should all consider buying more American made products. I know that our trade agreement with China isn't helping.
I have a recipe for a cheese sauce, however, lately when I have made it, it hasn't come out the way it should so I am asking for any and all suggestions for the ones that any of you have used with repeatable results. Many thanks!
It's Christmas time again so I am posting the link from last year's Christmas video that my sons were a part of. These are my youngest. Steven is the one with the "partridge in the pear tree" (red jacket, "lead singer") & James (his twin) shows up doing the "5 golden rings" acting all gangsta after the "6 geese a laying" part. Steven has moved on as a pre-med at Westminster College in Pennsylvania & James is a film major at Clarion University in Pennsylvania. Steven may be reconsidering his choice & going back to film & anime as his choice of major with a different college or university once this year is over. Anyway, please enjoy.
You scored 50% intoxication, 50% hotness, 50% complexity, and 75% craziness!
You are Coriander! You're subtle. So subtle that people often forget about you. You are refreshingly clean and rather odd. You're often misunderstood. Your key word is "latent;" all your potential is wrapped up tightly until "BOOM," one day you're cilantro. Funky.
To my friends on LJ: I grew up reading my dad's correspondence with Pope John Paul and his Vatican. They exchanged thoughts. I am giving serious thought to publicly publishing those letters. No, not for profit. Just that he died last year; churches are being destroyed & locked up in the city he was raised in & loved;, so whose church is next? Yes, I have issues. YOu are welcome to dump me from your friend's list. It's ok. But I do plan to make that correspondence public. Any suggestions? Yeah, kinda heavy for LJ.
I grew up in NYC. Once was proud to call myself a New Yawka. Not any longer. I have watched the greed of particular interest groups exploit and destroy a city that I once called home, that I once loved. Now you destroy churches to create dormitories and apartments. Why not create satelite campuses? Many successful universities and colleges do. Is NYU too narrow-minded to consider that such a move may be advantageous? Of course that would require re-organization & innovative thought. Those are no longer qualities of the "Big Apple" or the "City That Never Sleeps". Now it is, "How many people can we cram into the space that we have & still make a profit?"
Your article states facts without explanations. My guess is that certain groups cleared a nice profit but that the community is not supporting the change. My father, who had been a student of your university a long time ago, would not allow me to consider NYU as a college choice. Now I understand why. I am certain that this will be edited or rejected...
I am posting this publicly because I am certain that this will be edited & I certainly do not want my opinion misunderstood...
If you can't read the line under the pic it says,"Do one brave thing today...then run like hell". Gotta luv it.
Late yesterday afternoon (about 4-4:30) our wireless internet went down. Didn't get it back 'til nearly midnight after a VERY long session w/ Dell. We had somehow lost our IP addy so even after we had a connection we couldn't log onto the net. What a mess! This all started w/ my uploading a new anti-virus program into the other tower. Verizon, our internet provider, is absolutely worthless in such a situation. I am at a total loss to understand how the internet provider is unable to restore the IP addy. Glad we bought Dell computers afterall. This happened once before & again it was Dell who came to the rescue. Unfortunately w/ Dell you get New Dehli & w/ Verizon you now get the Phillipines. Guess all of the tech support lines are being set up overseas. Interesting.
Not much happening here. Feeling less lethargic. This is good. Have busy wks coming up & still haven't done much of anything. Need to pack up returns & send them out. Need to get house in order.. for my sanity I do, really. We have spring-like weather here. Really strange. Keep wondering if there is a blizzard on the way or not but guess we'll see how things play out.
No plans for New Years. Haven't had any in years. Will be babysitting the kids & the usual friend who has no place else to be. Wishing you all happiness & good health in 2007!
I recently answered a post in cherrybomb23z's journal. It may not jive with a bunch of you but I am willing to take that chance & I did mis-quote history in the entry. Sorry for that. Shortly after WWI a movement was started to remove all religion from the major countries of the world. Any relationship to Christianity had to hidden or it would've been destroyed. The incredible icons in Russia that were buried & hidden. The same existed through out the countries of Europe, lest they be confiscated & destroyed. The X in X-mas was a painted red X deleting the Christ part of the word Christmas. This movement has existed for decades & is succeeding within this country with all of the recent "can't's" in schools, office buildings, & government establishments. It is truly a sad commentary when we offer religious freedom to the populace of the world & have given up our own. This country was based on a Chrisian ethic. It has also accepted & allowed the other ethics out there to do their thing as well. Even my parents who were born in the late 1920's & early 30's didn't get it. No I am not some religious fanatic. It is just common sense to know what you are supporting. And, if you don't like it, fight back!
