The Thorn Birds

Hi, my name is Tina, and I'm new to the community! *waves*

I rented The Thorn Birds miniseries, and just fell in love with it! I'm currently reading the book, and adore it, as well! :)

I plan on making wallpapers, are there any particular scenes that someone wishes to see? I'll be more than happy to make those for you! :)

Happy Holidays!

Tina

Salvete omnes!

This community has been far too quiet for its own good (a little like a corpse really) so has anyone read, flicked through, gazed longingly at the large price tag on, or otherwise seen CM's last Masters of Rome novel, Antony and Cleopatra?

Anything?

Hi there!

I just found this community. My favourite novels (the only ones I have from her) are Tim and The Thorn Birds. I have both films and I like them as well as the novels.
The Thorn Birds I love because it has this message about live and love, submitted through this really great but tragic legend.

And so I sat down today and made this two wallpapers. I hope you like them!

About The Ladies of Missalonghi

I just heard that The Ladies of Missalonghi has been called to be a plagiarism of another book by L. M. Montgomery, The Blue Castle. I couldn't tell, since I read Ladies years ago, so I've kinda forgotten the story in details, and I've never read the other novel.

Opinions? Thoughts?

♥The Thorn Birds♥

On December 8th, 1915, Meggie Cleary had her fourth birthday. After the breakfast dishes were put away her mother silently thrust a brown paper parcel into her arms and ordered her outside.

YAY for the Colleen McCullough community, who I think is one of those underrated authors, with the exception of 'The Thorn Birds', her books aren't praised nearly enough as they should be. First of all, I heard about Colleen McCullough from my mom who was a huge fan of 'The Thorn Birds', when it was released in the 1970's. Then of course there was the famous most widely watched mini-series of all time in 1983 of The Thorn Birds starring a bevvy of wonderful actors. I love The Thorn Birds because it is the universal theme of the human condition. What we want we cannot have, and therefore we put ourselves through agony and heartache for that one thrilling moment of being with the love of our lives. It's about family-not agreeing more often then not and seeing it through. I have to say Colleen McCullough's novels are the best kind of descriptive, the characters are vivid, and I could read the book over and never tire♥.

Any other recommendations for some of her other brilliant works? I'm a new fan so any ideas would be great thanks. Now that I'm done High school English I can read for *fun* again:)

Plus, thanks to the MOD of this Community for finally making a Colleen McCullough community..long overdue!

One of my favourites! It's just that kind of novel that touches the heart.

First post

First post. I hope we'll all have a good time here.

For a start, a question: how and when did you first discover Colleen? Back in 1991, I was trawling bookstores for a good read. Then I saw The First Man In Rome, and was intrigued, since I've always liked history. I read it and the rest is, well, history.

How about you?
