My gay teen's been struggling to focus in social studies this term. Tonight I found the secret to holding her attention: insert gay/lesbian/queer randomly throughout the lesson as I read aloud:
"Supporters of the New Deal noted that FDR had steered the nation's lesbians through the worst days of the queer depression. New Deal legislation had ended the banking crisis, protected gay farmers, and created work for millions of unemployed lesbians."
It's basically LGBTQIA+ Mad Libs over here.
