Last night I was playing at a bar for a House-themed evening, and I noticed that a large portion of the crowd coming in simply wasn't into House music. Not because the music was bad, they just preferred something else. What was supposed to be a 2-hour set ended up becoming a 3.5-hour one.
I'm only 1.5 years into DJing professionally, but here are a few things I realized:

1. Crowd reading is non-negotiable. Transitions and tricks won't matter if you're unable to read the room. A technically perfect set means nothing if it doesn't connect with the people in front of you.

2. Be ready to switch things up when the situation calls for it. It may be a House music night, but sometimes you need to pivot and move into open format if that's what the room is asking for

3. Have tracks ready in your USB. There's no harm and it definitely doesn't make you less cool if you have some Top 40, Pop, or mainstream tracks ready to go. Being prepared gives you options.

As a birthday person, this birthday feels different in a way I can’t fully explain. I didn’t plan on doing anything special this year, but somehow that made me look back even more. The past year has been about slowly building myself up again, and this track is one I’ve resonated with so deeply through it all, like talking to a younger version of me.
These are the photos, moments, and little pieces of life I’ve collected since my last birthday. 💗

For some reason, this birthday feels totally different from the previous ones. And it’s not birthday blues, it just feels different.
