Aiba groans and buries his head into his pillow hoping to block out the sunlight seeping in through the blinds and assaulting his eyes. He lifts his head and blinks in confusion as Jun slips out of bed.

“Why are you up?” he asks groggily.

“Because I want to be. Go back to sleep.” Jun replies with a laugh.

Too tired to argue, Aiba shrugs mentally and snuggles deeper under his blankets and into the warmth of his bed.

He wakes again an hour later to the scent of coffee and miso and smiles as the realization that Jun has cooked breakfast washes over him. It is rare when they have a day off together and even more rare when Jun feels like making breakfast, so Aiba feels his excitement bubbling as he stuffs his feet into his slippers and heads towards the kitchen.

Aiba pads lightly down the hallway, stretching his arms high above his head. He is about to call out to Jun, but stops short when he hears the music and peeks around the corner to see Jun whisking eggs and humming along to the radio.

He steps into the room just as the chorus starts to find Jun using the whisk as a makeshift microphone and starts singing along. Aiba can’t stop his laugh as Jun startles and drops the whisk back into the bowl, quickly grabbing the ladle instead.

“Good morning,” Aiba says happily, giving Jun a peck on the cheek on his way to retrieve a mug from the upper cabinet.

“Morning.” Jun mumbles back, cheeks pink as he stirs the soup.

“You made me breakfast.” Aiba says happily, pouring himself a cup of coffee and topping Jun’s off as well.

“I wanted miso soup and tamagoyaki. I made me breakfast.” Jun grumbles while placing a skillet on a burner.

As much as he loves teasing Jun, Aiba doesn’t want to actually upset him so he laughs and leans back against the countertop, content to observe as Jun works.

Jun is just about to pour the eggs into the skillet when the song on the radio switches to “Sakura Sake.”

Aiba watches Jun as he pauses then sets the bowl down before turning around so they are facing. They share a knowing look and for the next four and a half minutes they dance around the kitchen singing along with themselves.

“I think dance breaks should be mandatory while making breakfast from now on.” Aiba declares as the song comes to an end, giving Jun a quick high five.

“That could get dangerous,” Jun counters as he reaches for the abandoned bowl of eggs and adjusts the heat under the skillet before pouring the mixture in.

“It’s a break, it’s not like we’ll be holding knives or trying to pour soup or anything.” Aiba replies taking a sip of coffee. “It’ll make cooking more fun.”

“I think you have enough fun while cooking.” Jun responds easily.

“Mmm, cooking with you was super fun last night,” Aiba agrees with a failed attempt at a wink.

Jun rolls his eyes, “You are hopeless.”

“But lovable!” Aiba adds.

“Can you grab the plates? This is just about done,” Jun asks as he kills the heat on the stove and sets about forming the tamagoyaki.

Aiba takes two plates from the cabinet and hands them to Jun, then turns to get two bowls as well.

“This smells amazing,” He tells Jun as he ladles the soup into the bowls.

“It’s not difficult to make,” Jun replies dismissively.

“Still smells good.” Aiba shrugs as he carefully walks the bowls to the table.

Aiba offers to do the dishes but Jun shoos him into the living room instead. Aiba is stretched out along the couch, back propped up against one of the arms as he highlights his script for the next day’s filming. He’s practicing a particularly difficult series of medical terms when Jun appears in the doorway.

“Finished?” Aiba asks hopefully. He knew it was silly and they saw one another practically every day, but he really wanted to spend the whole day with Jun.

“I just have one more thing left,” Jun says evasively.

“What is it?” Aiba asks, brows wrinkling in confusion.

“Happy birthday, Masaki” Jun says quietly as he comes around the corner holding a small cake in his hands.

“My birthday isn’t until next week! We’re having a party and everything” Aiba’s eyes are wide and he feels very warm all over.

Jun sighs, “I know that. It’s just—this is the only time I can have you to myself.”

Aiba is up and crossing the room to meet Jun before he is even finished talking. He knows he is grinning like an idiot, but at least he’s an idiot with a perfect boyfriend. Aiba takes the cake from Jun and sets it on the table, choosing instead to wrap his arms around Jun and squeeze as hard as he can.

Jun hugs Aiba back just as fiercely, then starts squirming, “Okay, okay, you can let go now. I gave you a cake, not a car.”

“Don’t care, it’s still the best.” Aiba says and squeezes him again for good measure.

“Thank you” Aiba whispers as he eventually lets go and steps back, taking Jun’s hand in his. “Now, let’s eat some cake!”

Jun groans but goes to get a knife anyway.
