Welcome to the Badlands

Hi, and welcome to the Worst Things. This is a community to post links to very bad things in. Mostly we are looking for large collections of bad thing- sites with some meat to them, not just sites that are a little on the wierd side. It should be free to post and join, and if we have problems I make it a bit more selective. I hope you all post stuff. I'll start off with some classic examples to get started. Perhaps one day instead of a haphazard weblog, I'll make a neatly organized directory. But until then, enjoy the bad...

Query Letters I Love: This is a weblog by a guy that reads screenplays for a movie studio. He posts the most pathetic, misguided and hilarious proposals he gets on a daily basis. For example:

"I just finished a script I'd like you to read.
TITLE: 'Ready or Not'.
LOGLINE: A comedy about a kid who's so good at hide-and-seek that nobody finds him for 20 years."

Hours of entertainment

Etiquette Hell: The worst etiquette. It's full of years of stories of wedding gone awry, greedy friends, and unbearable mishaps. Perhaps not the most exciting subject in the world, but some of it is pretty amazing (guests being presented with itemized bills after weddings, for example) and there is a lot of reading here. Updated infrequently.

The Institute for Offical Cheer: James Lilek's class site about just how strange and often horrible the past was. Includes the Gallery of Regrettable Food (a collection of 1950's cookbooks) and Interior Desecrations (the worst of 1970s interior design.)

Portal of Evil: A daily foray in to the deepest dregs of the Internet- the strangest fetishes, the dumbest slash fiction, the nuttiest nutters, the freakiest religious folks, and the most angst ridden teenagers. They specialize in sites with a lot of content, and their sites always make for interesting (albeit disturbing) reading.

Go Fug Yourself: I always pick up the oscar editions of the tabloids just to see them make fun of people's dresses, but thanks to Go Fug Yourself I can do it everyday. This weblog features the ugliest celebrity "fashions."

Awful Plastic Surgery: An often informative site featureing lurid pictures of celebrity plastic surgery gone horribly awry. A good chance to have a cheap laugh at the rich, famous and vain.

Hanzismatter: We've all wondered what would happen if a tattoo artist decided to tattoo "My Abusive Husband Pimps Me Out" instead of "Love" when giving out cheesy Hanzi/Kanji tattoos to the clueless. This site translates and analyzes nonsensicle tattoos and other appearences of bad hanzi/kanji in pop culture. Very funny and disturbing.
