Community Lot/Shop Items Causing Errors

I'm really not sure where to begin with this issue of mine, and I've tried a lot of googling to no success (I am apparently very bad at googling these things.) I made a number of community lots for my new neighborhood, to break TS2 back in, and I thought everything was going well until I tried to send my sims to said lots. The lots would load all the way - all the squares lit up - but then the lot itself never loaded. This I was able to google and figure out that something in my lot was giving an issue, so I used the 'boolProp Testingcheatsenabled true' cheat to try and find out what was causing the issues.

The initial error was just the Apartment Life vending machines, so I deleted them and was able to move on.

When I tried other lots, though, it wasn't just the vending machine. The clothing racks give off errors. The jewelry stands, the pet collar rack, it seems almost anything that has some kind of shopping interaction is throwing up errors - even the magazine/comics kiosk and the cell phone/video games kiosk.

I would assume this would have something to do with a shopping hack/mod, but as far as I know, I don't have any? I haven't downloaded anything like the shop from home coat rack and I'm PRETTY sure I have no shopping mods, unless maybe something snuck in? I guess I'm just asking if there are any mods off the top of anyones' (or hacked objects, because chances are it's probably going to be something more like that, maybe?) that could be doing this? I have recolors of clothing racks and shop kiosks but I wouldn't think that would be able to throw up errors like this, but I can't be sure at this point anymore. I just want to be able to utilize shops and actually shop from them - to actually VISIT them! - but I'm at such a loss.

I tried the Hack Conflict Detection Utility but it gave me an error that it couldn't find my Sims folder (???) so that didn't work. So :( If anyone has any ideas, tips, has encountered this before, I'll take any advice you have. I'm hoping it's something really silly that I've overlooked but D: This is probably a stretch, but I'll be grateful to any help you guys can provide.

Community lots crashing

Firstly, I apologise if this is answered somewhere. I tried searching but didn't find what I was looking for. But I've got a fever and have today struggled to understand the function of a simple door (don't ask, I'm just glad I was alone with no witnesses to my stupidity), so it's very possible I might have missed it. :p

Lately I've had trouble with my game crashing. It's always on community lots, never residential lots. At first it happened only with the one family so I thought there was something off with them, but now it's happened a couple times on other community lots owned by other families. Collapse )

Sims Don't Like My Restaurant?

I've built a player-owned restaurant for the first time in my game. I made sure the menu didn't include any items my Sim couldn't cook, I had another Sim alternating between host and server and bringing other Sims' food, and all seemed to be going well until I realized that the customer Sims would sit at the table for several minutes after finishing the food, motionless, then they would get a ✰-- over their head and walk out mad.

Can anyone tell me why? I can't find any social interactions that might explain this. Is there an object I could be missing?

Can't Package Lot

I've done several Google searches, but I can't find an answer for this. I've been making over Gothier Green Lawns and have tried to package it, but I keep getting this error:
"An error has occurred while packaging the lot to a file" - not that helpful, eh?

I've double checked that the graves are not still on the lot - there is no custom content used...so I really can't see what the problem could be. I can't see any error reports being generated by this either. I've seen people upload this before, so I know it can be done, and my game isn't borked, as I've packaged other lots up today. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Sims have trouble being served

Sometimes I'll take a sim to the Crypt O Nightclub and have them order dinner and the waitress will take their order, come back and act like she's serving their food, but there is no food. The plate and everything are invisible so the sim can't eat.

This has happened several times, with different sims. My sim has to pay, and has to leave without eating, because no matter how many times I click "order for me" the same thing happens. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have all EPs except Bon Voyage, Free time and Seasons and all stuff packs except Glamour Life and Happy Holidays.

Turbocharger pool table - unaccessible recolour? (solved)

I'm currently replicating a lot in another neighbourhood, for storytelling purposes. It's a bar so it has a pool table, right? The one in question is the Turbocharger pool table, found under Hobbies - Recreation.

But when I'm rebuilding the lot, I can't get that darker wood recolour. All I have are lighter recolours, like this: Collapse )
I have all the eps/stuff packs installed, except holiday stuff. I have a ton of CC, but this doesn't feel like something caused by a conflict, since I took a screenshot of the original bar about ten minutes ago and the darker recolour was still there.

The original bar was furnished whilst in the possession of a sim, whereas the replica is being built as a straight community lot. Would that have caused the difference? :| That's the only thing I can think of being the cause.

edit: yep, that's the cause. I used a character to buy the lot and when he visited it, the pool table had a different set of wood recolours. So, yeah. That's what it is. 8| The more you know!

'Temp' Instead of Name of Actual Lot?

I'm after advice about uploading a maxis-makeover lot. I'm following the instructions from here, and everything is working fine. However, when I load the .Sims2Pack file, the lot displays like this -

Rather than, say - 'Town Centre Grocery' like it is meant to be. This happens for a few of the lots I've tried packaging up. Is there a way to rename the lot to what it should be?

Do these things actually exist somewhere and if so WCIF them?

Hello simmers! There are just a few things I am curious about but haven't seen anywhere and maybe you could help.

Is there any hack or mod that allows more townies/etc at a community lot? I know I could probably use the teleporter thing and summon more people in but I like it to be more random than that and I like my comm lots to be busy, especially in my city/downtown area.

Sort of an add on to that question.. Is there anything that allows only a certain age group on a certain comm lot? Say if I want to make an underage club for my teens but don't want any adult sims showing up as well, something that attracted teen townie sims would be good.

Also, is there anyway to build a swimming pool on a second story or higher. A cheat or mod? The game says it has to be built on terrain but I'd really like a pool on my roof.

Two quick questions

I just got Double Deluxe; I haven't played anything except base game before. So I'm a bit confused about one thing relating to inventories: if I take a gravestone off a lot and put it in a cemetery, can the Sim who put it there bring it back?

Also, do you think that having a gravestone on a lot would cause a Knowledge Sim to develop a really obnoxious idée fixe where, apart from gaining skills, all he ever wants to do is see a ghost? He's boring me to tears. If I can't end this obnoxious behavior, I'm going to kick his ass. Night after night, I park his ass in front of the ghost, he sees it, he pees his pants, he takes a shower, and he sticks his nose in a book. At least he's happy. If I don't give him any positive reinforcement (ie., I don't let him see the ghost, which doesn't come out unless I move its gravestone), he's still constantly rolling up new wants to see it, and of course he apparently can't get this want out of his system by seeing the ghost.

Help needed with ghosts/community graveyard.

Hi, a new member here, I had to join because I am going insane with thinking how this can be done, I looked through other entries to find my problem but I either can't find it, missed it or it doesn't help with my problem, so here is my problem.

I'm making a new downtown and I have made a community graveyard, but I want ghosts to put on it, a specific family I made especially. I know the way of killing all Sims and then getting another Sim (probably a CAS Sim) to move all the graves, but what I want to know is would the “changeLotZoning” cheat work if I change the community graveyard to residential, move in the family, kill them off and change it back to community. Would they stay there and haunt the community graveyard, or am I best sticking to: move family to empty residential, kill off, move in CAS Sim to dead family's empty residential, move family graves to community graveyard, then move the CAS Sim back to CAS?

If there is a risk of them not staying at the community lot either way, I think I will just give up the idea and just let them be townies.

Edit: I moved the family of ghosts to be, in with another, sim (A) (who with his wife sim (B) just live in their home. I don't play them, I just let them roam free and mingle - they are still playable if I wanted to) I then killed said family off and put the families' graves into sim (A)'s inventory, took them to the waiting graveyard and placed them in their final resting places. Their ghosts can be seen when others visit, so it was a success :)
