things as I think them

Still not on fire. Yay. Though, it's hot, and I'd like to open the windows, but I can't because of all the smoke. Wait, I have no right to complain, as I have not been evacuated like 1 million other people here in dry, smokey SoCal, nor am I in danger of being on fire at the present time. So, never mind.

On to things making me happy and not sneezey-headachy hooray!:

• The Rockies in the World Series. The Rockies! Man ... I just ... well, whatever happens, I'm damned proud of them.

And for those eastcoasters who think Denver has no baseball history and thus does not deserve to have a team in the WS: "You think Cubs fans have suffered? Please. At least they had a team. Ours was the cruelest kind of suffering -- the hopeless kind. Our motto was: Maybe Next Century."

Hee. Hey, I went to Denver Bears games! Yes, I did, thankyouverymuch. And I remember watching KC Royals games on channel two, because the MLB wouldn't give us a team of our own. And we had to walk uphill, in the snow (yes, in the summer), just to see those games, and we liked it, 'cause we like baseball, damnit.

• New TVs! Spoilers everywhere.

Pushing Daisies is by far my favorite show of the new season. It might be my most favoritest thing on television. Actually, it might just be my most favoritest thing of any sort. Collapse )

• Speaking of Chucks, there's Chuck. Collapse )

• Heroes is off to a slowish start. But, then, I seem to recall it being off to a slowish start in its first year, too, so ... Collapse )

• And speaking of Bruce Campbell, okay, so I was the last person to watch Burn Notice, and I started with the finale first, so, you know, it was a little confusing. But then I went back and watched it from the beginning and laughed at the Cagney and Lacy joke and enjoyed the hell out of it. So, I'll join everybody else in the "next summer? wtf?" camp.

• My other favorite new show of the season is totally Reaper. I don't really have a lot to say about it, other than it always makes me laugh. The Devil is awesome. And an ass. Which, is pretty much what you'd expect from the Devil.

• I tried Journeyman, I really did. But, man, it just did nothing for me. After the first ep, I thought it had some promise, but by the second ep I couldn't sit all the way through it. Also, I think I'm the only person on the planet who hated Quantum Leap. I did, it's true.

• Oh thank god. The weather has changed. The winds have stopped and what breeze there is feels like it's coming from the west and has coolness and a hint of moisture in it, and the air is significantly less smokey. Poor firefighters, I hope they catch a break today.

Life Collapse )

• The Bionic Woman is entertaining enough. Collapse )

The Office always makes me happy. So far this season I'm near dead from the cute of PB&J. Though, what's with the hour long eps? Not that I'm complaining mind.

• Yes, I am very excited for the Ghost Hunters live broadcast from the Waverly Hills Sanatarium on Halloween. It's true.

• I was going to talk SGA and Jekyll but I need a nap. And then I've got to do my weekly fandom oppression thing. Yay.

eta: I'd like to thank the Rockies for making it a four game sweep, because that means we're now free of the TBS idiots and games that start in the middle of the freaking night. The NLCS ratings were record low? You don't say. Hey, you remember game two? The one that went until a quarter to three in the morning eastern time? Gosh, I wonder why the ratings sucked. It's a real head-scratcher.
