It's not generally known, but Peter Jackson's 1995 mockumentary, Forgotten Silver (which is, incidentally, a brilliant film, and a hilarious salute to early filmmakers), in which diligent explorers find the remains of a city built for a silent film Biblical epic, was partially based on real-life events. (Note that I haven't been able to determine whether or not Jackson knew about this; the similarities are astounding, however.)

When C. B. De Mille wrapped shooting on his full-size set of the city of Karnak for his silent version of The 10 Commandments (later, of course, remade with Charlton Heston), he opted to allow the desert sands to bury the set, rather than demolishing it himself. Researchers discovered the location of the set (near Guadalupe, California) in 1983, and are currently working to explore and preserve the ruins. (No word on whether the young De Mille had a prediliction for stealing eggs, however.)

My most favourite PJ film

is Meet the Feebles.

Long before LOTR i was captivated by PJ through a special PJ marathon run on Sky TV at the time The Frightners came out.
I now own on dvd Meet the Feebles, Braindead and Bad taste - i vowed that i would own these three before getting any of his more commercial stuff. I am slowly adding to my collection.
Now i have moved to Wellington, i have also visited and been shown around his Post Production unit - seriously awesome and inspiring place to work in and to visit. The coolest thing was meeting people who have the same degree as myself and are working with PJ as well as the other amazing talents he has in the building.

Peter Jackson-Animorph Film

Hello Everyone,

I am glad to see a community dedicated to the wonderful director Peter Jackson. I enjoyed the LOTR series and his directing is rather amazing. He did a wonder job with the series and I do plan on watching "King Kong" in the future, but I do have something that may interest you.

There is the science fiction series called "Animorphs" that involves 5 kids and an alien trying to save planet Earth and their only weapon is the power to morph into any animal they can touch. For those of you who have seen or heard about the CTV/Nickelodeon version of the series, it did not meet the expectations of the series. I have been told by many other fans that this series should receive some justice and that Peter Jackson may be one of the people that can provide that justice.

I created a petition asking for Peter Jackson to consider making at least one "Animorph" movie (since it would be insane to recreate the whole 54 book series). I know the odds are astronomical, but I felt that I should at least give it at try and see what happens. I have heard from sources that Peter Jackson wanted LOTR to be made into a film, and when he gave it a try it worked. I'm trying to do a similar thing, but since I am not a director yet, at least 40 other people and I believe that he will be perfect for the job.

The Private Policy and Term of Use on the site promises not to SPAM or sell your information. All you need to do is provide a valid e-mail address (you don't even have to provide a real name from my knowledge). The only thing that will be visible is either your name/"Name Specified" and any comments you write. I am even unable to view your e-mail address. If I can not convince Peter Jackson into creating this film, then this may be used to spark the interest with other film makers.

Here is the link to the petition: http://www.petitionthem.com/?sect=…

I want to at least try to see what will happen. I truly cherish his directing abilities and I believe that he can do some justice to this series. Feel free to spread the word about it and the link to others.

G'day mates!!

G'day mates!! Just thought I'd make the first post....Welcome to The Lovely Peter, so we haven't got many members...yet, but I'm pretty sure we'll get a fair few once we get all this going, with all the advertising and what not. I look foreward to all this (and I figure that this message is pretty lame) Well, love to you all, ta ta!
