UPDATES

It may seem painfully apparent that not a great deal is going on over here, it's pretty dead.
This is not a problem. It is the result of actual college being so much more pushy than the world of dreamy intellectualism.

However, being that I now have a million hours with nothing to do but study for my GRE.
I know amazonmink has graduated, prettyironic is having a baby so maybe or maybe not we all have more time.


However, not asking much - just if you guys read something amazing, or see something suitably obnoxious - post.

Also, we have a new member, vidalsdauphin, I'm sorry if you find this party terribly dull - of course, I am open to any and all suggestions or ideas or anything you might think could enliven this little patch of livejournal.

In any case, Welcome.

As always - I will post a little about this on my friend's page and maybe the hordes of people who read my journal *cough* might want to come and chat.

Second Post:

Alright, now on a much less pretentious note [though, I won't deny, the personal knowledge that I have started possibly the most pretentious and self-important group on Facebook fills me with a sort of strange glee.] However, I think what we were thinking when be began this little project was that in a day one spends a lot of time trying to talk to people about things they don't care about. Because the converstation originated amongst English majors it was mainly about the joy of discussing a good poem, or book, or author or just some artistic element of life with someone else who also 'gets it'.

There is a definate pleasure in talking about things which one is passionate about with others who feel the same, and that is the spirit of this, beneath all those long and entertaining words. So, I propose it is used as a venue to discuss things of that nature;
culture, art, literature, poetry, writing, reading, film, media, food, restaurants, and the sort of things that come with the kind of people who read good books and think good thoughts, which I know you all are. Also, perhaps Ideas and recogmendations...

First Post:

Ladies [because at this stage we all are]
This is the first post to the community "The" Litrary Circle. Some of you, specfically, amazonmink and prettyironic are at George Mason and are in my English classes are were party to the conception of this little project. However, some of you, thevampyrroze and reneeag are not, but are people I would consider to be the sort of people who care about things like literature, and think engaging, elevated thoughts, so I invited you too.

Much of the following is a repeat of what is writ in the Facebook Profile, however, for the benefit of the much prettier LJ community I will reiterate it:

Onwards and Forwards.

As a side note: You may be experiencing waves of some indescribable element emerging at you from your computer screen. Worry not, it is because we are generally English Majors and are thus enabled with a completely valid, reasonable, hugely ostentatious yet subtly tasteful superiority complex.

Our first Soiree will be held on Saturday the 24th of February 2007.

Much euphoria and endless rapture is expected.

Please take a moment to note the GIANT SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL which is occurring in Washington DC presently. Their website my be located at http://www.washington.org/

These events will be vastly beneficial in the development of your mind. Attend with exuberance.

Also, I have every intention of establishing a Live Journal community for the Movement, however until that time refer to the OED website as listed for hours of intellectual frivolity!


Finally, please free to send any and all ideas with regard to the community my way and I'll make you a maintainer because that's what 'circles' do. Similarly, if this is all just entirely too silly and trivial, ignore me, or tell me. Either/or.
