Growing up, I'm sure most of us had our fears and worries. I'm also pretty sure that now, looking back, many of them were pretty silly.
What worries, fears, ideas, did you all have as a kid, that you realize now were pretty ridiculous??
I know that when I was a little kid, I used to get scared thinking that I could be arrested by the police if once in a while, I forgot to brush my teeth, or put (or keep) my seatbelt on while in the car.
I remember as a kid sitting on the top steps of our stairs in the morning, while the rest of my family were getting ready for work/school and looking down at our front door, being afraid that the police would come busting through the door and take me away just because I had eaten something the night before, after I'd already brushed my teeth, and then fallen asleep without brushing again. Or because I'd forgotten to brush my teeth altogether. I still remember trying to come up with bargains in my mind, like I would promise to always remember to brush my teeth, so that the cops wouldn't come.
Hi :) I've finally figured out how to join this journal! :) I'm Emma, from the UK, and I'm a huge Sweet Valley fan! I love talking about SVH online, cos everyone else is as mad about YA fiction as I am!!
I'm the owner of The Hidden Bookcase, a huge Sweet Valley and Babysitters Club site, which is at:
www.thehiddenbookcase.com
I've also just started a BSC and Sweet Valley Forum there!
www.thehiddenbookcase.com/forum
Hopefully we can get as many fans there as possible, and have some fun! (Its also a forum for other book series's, such as The Sleepover Club, and any other series you like really!) I'd love to here from all the BSC fans!!
The other day, I was watching "American Inventor" and I got to thinking and remembering about a couple books that I really, REALLY loved as a child.
But unfortunately, I think that over the years, they may have gotten lost or accidentally thrown out or given away by my parents, and for some reason, I can NOT seem to remember either the title or name of the author/authors, so even though I want to re-purchase them, I am having a REALLY hard time locating them, and I am hoping that maybe someone on here has these books and/or knows the title and/or the name of the author or authors and can help me out.
The first book was a big children's soft-cover paperback book (I think it was at least a couple hundred pages) about pet care. It had chapters/sections for each kind of pet, from the usual (dogs, cats, fish, etc.) to the unusual (exotic animals, reptiles, rodents, etc.) It was illustrated but the pictures were not actual photos, but cartoons. The book was about the different aspects of pet care, including feeding, training, medical issues, etc, and dealt with nearly all kinds of pets.
The second book was a big children's joke book, but it also had a section for inventions that "you wish existed" Mostly it was a joke/riddle book. But it had this chapter for crazy inventions.
If anyone can help me remember and/or find these books from the 1980's-1990's, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks to smarmyeels and monsterfeets I now have the ten dollars needed to expand my cap gallery! YES! Thank you so much guys! This just goes to show that where there's a will, there's a way. I cant wait to get all those caps and icons up :D
Attention
I come here asking for donations for my nickelodeon-related website.
Hear me out before you all decide to groan about donation beggers!
So far, I have Screencaps of three Doug episodes, one Muppet Babies, seven Rocko's Modern Life, and one Inside-Out Boy short.
As far as Icons, I have Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold, Salute Your Shorts, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Weinerville, Rocko's Modern Life, Clarissa Explains it All, Alex Mack, Pete and Pete, and Doug. I have many other non- nick related icons, but the point of my asking for donations is to expand my screencap collection.
I have many screencaps of other nickelodeon shows sitting in my Photobucket, but Freewebs, who hosts my site, only allows 50 pages for a free user. I have already used 33. To upgrade, I need ten dollars for a year of unlimited pages.
Please, if you have any interest whatsoever in ever using my icons or screencaps, donate even fifty cents so that I can expand the site. I am currently jobless and I can not afford to do it myself, or I would because I am so passionate about expanding the amount of old nickelodeon media available.
All it takes is ten dollars and I'm sure that with the amount of fans out there, this will be quick to raise.
If you donate five dollars, I will make a livejournal layout for you in thanks. The whole ten dollars and I will do anything you ask and I will sell my soul to you for the next year.
I'm Jami and I'm new the this community, I was born in 1980 and am so obsessed with the 80s and 90s....i used to have every Alf episode on tape, and I still play my Popple's game. I miss the good ole days so much!

It was an underwater sea community, or the smurfs? I never see those brought back!! Anyway, just thought I"d say Hi to all you oldies out there, for anyone who's looking for 80's flicks they can't find, let me know I work at a movie store and can check with my vendors to see what's availbale. Did you know that the strawberrry shortcake movies actually smell like strawberries! The new generation has it best, they have all our old stuff out with more merchandise.
