New Illustrations coming...

Hey everyone!

I have discovered a VERY talented anthro and fantasy artist named Abigail Hamaker.

Check out her gallery!

I actually found her gallery while Googling for pics of silver foxes and found this:

Once I know I can afford it, I plan to get a number of commissions from her. She's just too good! And her art's very reasonably priced too.

Feedback wanted!

I made this post public because I want as many serious, honest opinions as I can get.

Would it help, harm, or do nothing for The Goldenlea if I were to change the setting from a medieval-ish setting (roughly analogous to the early 15th century) to a post-medieval setting roughly analogous with the mid-17th century?

I got the idea watching a documentary about the English civil war... Which may yield good historical source material were I to rewrite the story.

To give some idea of what it would involve, I would essentially have to:
*rewrite large portions of the plot.
*Change the geopolitics of the setting.
*Change many details about everyday life, such as clothing, food, architecture, etc.
*Possibly rethink many of the names.
*Fundamentally change details about weapons and battles.
*Change the roles/ details/ motives of certain characters (i.e. Virgil Dol could go from a shifty, power-hungry courtier who is admittedly inspired by early 15th century Italian politicians to a pious, hard-nosed cleric who believes his ambitions are divine based loosely on Puritan leaders such as Cromwell).

Another idea I've thought of is to finish the current version, go back and make one or two alternate versions with different plots, endings, and settings, and see which one gets the best reviews.

Any thoughts?

A friendly reminder...

Certain updates in this journal will be strictly "Friends Only." I'm not being snotty, I'm just trying to keep an eye on who knows what. This includes selections from the story, which, forgive me, I'm very protective of.

For the benefit of those watching who have not actually joined, a brief version of the first post:

*The site is still incomplete, character portraits are needed for Gweulan, Silvia, Virgil, and Athene. Two character portraits have been done, one of Faol and one of Balthasar.

*A working plotline is about 5/6 of the way completed for volume 1, enough material to work with for a while. Still trying to fit in the ending.

*6 chapters plus a prologue have been written so far; at present, I am going back through the chapters completed so far and filling details that were overlooked.

*My personal life- Looking for work and a place to stay in the UK so I can continue to work on this book. :)
