hey everyone!

i just watched the scary godmother: halloween spooktacular and i absolutely loved it! i've seen some of the books in a local comic book store before and it always looked really intriguing and so i decided to join this community :)! and, since it's close to halloween, i just wanted to say happy halloween :)!

Wow, I see it's been a while since there were any posts on this LJ community, but I figured maybe I'd liven things up, having discovered this LJ Community a while back. :)

Anyway, I've become a fan of Scary Godmother last year, when I read about the special (based on a popular storybook/comic) and then saw Mainframe's promo for the special. I was hooked! I thought it looked to be the best project by Mainframe since Reboot, and it was quite colorful and vivid. It looked true to Jill Thompson's original comic, and I really liked the fact that Jill had creative control over the project! Having finally seen the special, I think it's become one of my most favorite specials ever, Halloween or otherwise (It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Mad Monster Party? being the others). So much that I have it on DVD, and have been watching it a lot this past Halloween season (and if anything, I'd watch it any time I wanted)!

Then, early this year, I went to a comic-book store in the southside (probably the biggest here in Richmond) and got, among other things, 3 issues of Scary Godmother comics (the entire Wild About Harry miniseries), and really enjoyed reading them! A couple of weeks later, I went to a comic-book store and found the original Scary Godmother storybook (wrapped in plastic), and upon reading it, I loved it. It's a cute and funny story, with beautiful art by Thompson. One of my favorite Halloween-related stories.

I've also seen the new special Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy (based on the 2nd book), and I loved it! I love both specials equally, but this is even better in terms of animation!

okay, i was going to let this community die, but i just don't have it in me. so, if any of the few and far between members have ideas on what i can do to make it a little more alive, please let me know.

I'm a new member to this community! I LOVE Jill Thompson's artwork, and have been collecting anything I could get my hands on of hers for at least 6 years now...including the comics, notepads, glasses, postcards..you name it, I'll buy it! I'm addicted! She's an amazing artist, and I love her Scary Godmother stories & ideas. It's so cute & creepy all mixed in to one! : )
My only complaint is that I just wish she had more time to make MORE artwork! : )

I was so excited to find this place!! I hope that it takes off, because I love Scary Godmother and Jill Thompson! I'm so mad, though, to hear that the animated DVD that's being shown in Canada isn't being shown here, is it? Has anyone heard?!
