Is there a word for occupying the space where normies think you're a freak and freaks think you're a normie?

I tell a woman with a 9 to 5 office job about the slightly niche speculative fiction novel I just finished and she goes "Oh, that's...interesting. I hadn't heard of that."

I tell a grungy chick I met at a dive bar about the same book and she kinda scoffs and goes "Okay" like I said my favorite show is Sesame Street

odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Good Place is an excellent show for many reasons, but one that doesn't really get talked about enough, probably because of how the season 1 twist obscures it, is that the 'No Exit'-esque "Hell is Other People" scenario for an afterlife of eternal torture is an avante garde experiment from an Auteur demon who's trying to convince the other demons of his Vision while they're like "idk man flaying genitals works really good"

Sometimes, I need to take photos for work.

Sometimes, those photos need to be taken underneath vehicles. This is difficult as underneath a vehicle is very dark, but metal is very reflective, which makes using a flashlight both necessary and an issue.

Now, my favorite manager once said of me, "look at her. she burns if she looks at the forecast for too long" which is the meanest and truest thing ever said about my complexion.

Did I, partially as a joke, try to diffuse the flashlight beam off the underside of my forearm in order to get pictures underneath a truck once? Yes. Did it work? Also yes.

When I explained how I got the photos to my (different) manager, he looked at me and said very tiredly, "that is the saddest thing I've ever heard."

"oh no it's even worse than that," I assured him, and proceeded to remove my watch to show him my tan lines.

He was very distressed about this for months.
