Writer's Block

Well. It's time someone posted something.

After seeing The Matchmaker, by Thornton Wilder, last night, this little play started coming out during a midnight writing splurge with Katherine. I like bits and pieces of it, though I'm a) not sure where to go from here, b) the story turned a different direction on me in the last page, c) not sure anyone but me finds it particularly funny. So, here you all. We'll see if this gets any comments.

Oh, and I'm not sure when exactly this takes place. Oh well.

Ivory Keys

I had this idea like two months ago, but had some writer's block. Then today I read Snow Goose, and the writer's block went away. Weee! I'm not sure if I like the ending, but it's supposed to be short and sweet.

Based shortly after/near the end of WWII.

Abortion

Well, I've been hankering to write this for about four months but was kept waiting by my Uncle Chuck's hectic, saving-the-world style life.

The "[?]" is where I need my dad's help. But I figured I'd go ahead and post this for ya'll input, too.

Note: I wrote this in like forty-five minutes.

Suggestions are very welcome! I'm afraid it sounds a bit too informative and not emotional, especially in describing his Navy victories. I also need a more interesting title. And I'm debating adding in his spiritual story. The reason for keeping it out would be, obviously, that the story would appeal to non-Christians too. The good part about putting it in would be that's really him, more than just some Navy officer.

So, thoughts?

The Hobbit?

So, I randomly decided to see if there was more news on the makings of The Hobbit and stumbled onto this site.

Here are a few excerpts I found:

Another 4 years to wait?
In an interview Peter Jackson said that it will be up to four years before he starts work on a film version of The Hobbit. It would be a lot of work for the lawyers until then, to solve the legal problems.

Saul Zaentz, producer and one of the holders on the rights of the Hobbit movie expresses his optimism that the movie could be made soon.
From the following article: "And fear not, lovers of furry-footed wee folk: Zaentz vows there will be a film version of The Hobbit, just as soon as the slightly more complicated legal entanglements around that property are ironed out."

Ian McKellen told in an interview again that he would love to play Ganfalf in "The Hobbit".
From the interview:
Q: If "The Hobbit," the prequel to "The Lord of the Rings," were made into a movie, would you want to play Gandalf again?
MCKELLEN: I would love to do "The Hobbit," yes. Partly because I would hate to see anybody else playing Gandalf.

The Fray is Christian!

This is mildly amusing because I have read the lyrics for the How To Save A Life album and thought 'my oh my, this is the most Christian-sounding secular band I've ever heard!' (in a good way). Their permenant attitude towards romance has always been extremely refreshing to me. Then I found this interview at ChristianityToday.com.

"If you're a painter, paint, but you don't have to have Jesus in every picture. Paint well, and if you paint well enough, they might ask you why you do that."

Stone Garden

I wrote this...a year ago, Abigail? I don't remember exactly. This morning I felt like re-reading it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really, really like it (okay, I almost started crying, but that's because of subliminal things you guys won't catch). I wrote it for something, but I've changed the names and a few other things. Anyway, lemme know what you think.

Further CB Things

So, I was hoping to wait until I could at least write a blog entry for Alaith about it and make everyone (well, basically Kyra and Abigail, because they're the only people who might actually comment) to gasp in horror and go "what the heck?!" because that's fun to laugh at. But I'm a sucker at keeping secrets, and I think the plot twist...thing...still could use more tweaking. And once I actually get to writing it, I probably won't like to get feedback saying, "You have to rewrite this whole because you forgot this major reason this doesn't work!" This being because I'm a C personality, which means I like doing things once, the right way, and have a hard time going back. Anyway. I'm rambling.

Rose Petals on the Sea

This is something random and quick I wrote a couple days ago. Typed it up, edited it, and think it's pretty good. (especially for writing it in a couple hours) I just watn to know what you think about it, particulally the italics. Oh, and I'm trying to decide if I want to use Loreena McKennitt's song "Dante's prayer"'s chorus instead of what I used.
