Two pieces of important news

1. There is a new archivist on the SSA! I'm very happy about this since lately it's been very hard for me to give the archive the attention and care that it deserves. I am still going to be staying on for a while, in an advisory capacity, but I am basically turning my duties over to the lovely stone_princess.

Stone Princess currently runs a fiction archive for the Boondock Saints which uses the same AA software as the Smallville Slash Archive. So she's familiar with the concept and probably won't need that much help. :) Thanks very much to Stone Princess! I'm sure she's going to do a great job.

2. This announcement is possibly even MORE important-- the SSA has changed e-mail addresses. "smallville@slashdom.com" is now a DEAD e-mail address that won't work. Please send all requests/suggestions to the new e-mail address:

If I can, I would like to request that you do NOT add this new e-mail address to your online address books and/or contact lists. It should be easy to remember, but if you do forget what it is, you can always come here and look, or go to the SSA and look. The reason I ask that you not add this e-mail to your address books is because it then gets picked up on by viruses and scammers, and it's very very hard to sort out actual archive e-mail from all the spam that we get. This is why we are having to change the current archive e-mail, and if we start having a serious spam problem again, we'll have to change it yet again, and we'd really rather avoid the confusion. So please don't add the current archive e-mail to your online address books or contact lists. Thank you.

SSA back on track

Just a note to let everyone know that the SSA is back on track. The search function is enabled and you should also be able to post.

If you've been having posting difficulties over the past few days, please try again now.

IMPORTANT: If you are an author who has POSTED a story over the last week or so, please go to the archive and do a search for it using the Search Engine. If your story does not appear, please e-mail the archivists and let them know-- some recent entries to the database may have been corrupted as a result of the problem we had.

Thanks to harriet_spy for figuring out the problem and minotaurs for fixing it for us. :)

Archive is down

Hey all-- thanks for the e-mails. The archive CGI is currently down. Stories can still be reached through outside links, but no searches will work for the time being.

Due to the fact that I recently moved into a new apartment and it's taken the phone company one full *month* to get my DSL hooked back up (we were without basic phone service for two weeks) I'm on my roommate's laptop right now, not my own computer, and I'm using dial-up and a free AOL account.

Believe me, this has been a much bigger inconvenience for me than it has been for anyone else, at least until this point. There's not a lot I can do to investigate the SSA's problems at this point, but I'll look into some things that might possibly be causing the problem. It may take a few days, unfortunately. (My own DSL won't be hooked up till Monday.)

Please be patient and bear with us as we attempt to figure out how to fix the SSA. While it's down, there's always new fic to read at Level Three.

The archive is down.

Yes, we are aware the archive's search function is down. (Stories can still be reached through offsite links.) We're not sure what's wrong but we're working on it.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience.
