MEME: Top 10 favorites of Led Zeppelin

Hello! I've recently been introduced to the amazingness that is Led Zeppelin, after being coerced into writing an article for the this 70's band that is still held in high esteem even now. Last night, I read through the entire Wiki page in one go after listening to Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven and a few others, and I was surprised that they were... this famous.

I mean, I knew they were famous, but I never really comprehended just how famous until I read about their achievements. *__* So, I'm hosting a discussion meme in my journal to know what the masses think of Led Zeppelin. Are they really the greatest rock band of all time? Or is their music just overrated? Or are they old and washed out, soon to be replaced by contemporary talents, and the in-your-face attitude of the wannabe rockette?

What I will tell you, though, is that I love that flamboyant, long-haired look the members had going on, so have a picture:

The good ol' 70's

And another one:

Almost four decades later

Now onward to the meme! Take a look at the MEME right here and share your thoughts!

Signing off,
~I.

The Soft Pack

They were the Muslims, then they became the Soft Pack, but whatever the San Diego quartet are calling themselves, they remain one worth keeping an eye on. The band's working on a full-length for Kemado and have begun posting primers and previews on their newly relaunched site. A notable recent addition is this live video for a new track called "Pull Out," a scraggly lo-fi jam that hits with just the right parts SoCal surf punk and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. Cool visual treatment by Felipe Lima, too.

Check the live video out!

Stellastarr*

Stellastarr* has been one of my favorite bands for years, ever since the first time I heard "My Coco." I saw them a few years ago and The Killers were opening for them, and now look how big the Killers are! Stellastarr* recently released a new album called "Civilized" and it's some of their best work yet.

Check out this video of them performing a song called "Tokyo Sky" from the new album:

Fuck yeah, what a year. Did it rock or what?
Mötley Crüe, Tesla, Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, Black Tide, AC/DC, Testament, Amon Amarth, Disturbed, Dimebag & David Allan Coe, Alestorm, The Cavalera Conspiracy, DragonForce, Kataklysm...it was a good year for rock & metal. If I left any out, let me know. Except for.....

Metallica. Funny, a band that used to call everyone else "posers" turned out to be the biggest ones of all. Abandonded metal & metal fans to ride the alternative wave. They even taunted the fans...remember faggot Lars saying "Metal is dead."? Now, with Guitar Hero & Rock Band bringing the classic shit to the kids & teaching them how to rock proper, they decide they wanna ride this wave & go heavy again. FUCK THEM. Metal was around before, metal survived without, & metal will be around long after them. Metal doesn't fucking need Metallica.
AND
"Guns N'Roses". In quote marks on purpose, because you can call a jackass a stallion, but that ain't gonna make it a fucking racehorse.
Just because Axl owns the name doesn't make it right. 'Nuff said.

2 more bands, not with new CDs, but out touring:
KISS...get Ace & Peter back, or drop the fucking paint.
Van Halen...quit fucking around & get Michael Anthony back.

And what do ya think of That Metal Show on VH1 Classic?
Master of Puppets

The Scream mp3s

Does anybody remember The Scream? (Those who don't, The Scream was former members of Racer X & John Corabi before he joined Mötley Crüe)

If anyone was looking for mp3s, I found everything by them.

If you go to racerxband.com & click on the Cool Stuff link, you're there.

Black Scorpion

Hope this isn't spam...

Ok, so the band Acrassicauda fucking rocks. They're a band originally from Iraq (formerly the only metal band in the country) and they've been through so much crap I can't believe it. I mean, not being able to make a gig because you're caught on the wrong side of a warzone? That's crazy.

So I was stumbling through the archives of this website I work for when I discovered that we have their movies-- Heavy Metal In Baghdad and Heavy Metal In Istanbul. I bestow them upon you all.
