We also have a blog for Entrapta, our second most frequent fronter. It's @enties-thoughts-and-friends.

Thanks for reading, and goodbye.

Sorry to everyone who’s enjoyed the last 130 years of science and culture journalism, but Disney needs the money to fund Toy Story 9

The slow death of interesting things for the sake of unceasing cancerous growth and ephemeral content.

at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you

at some point in your life you will be making a sauce or a stew in which you need to add cornstarch to thicken it. and you will prepare a slurry of starch in cold water and think "this looks like way too little starch to thicken this amount of liquid." this is the devil speaking. cornstarch instantly polymerizes at 95°C and if you add too much it will turn into an impossibly thick goop.

at some point in your life you will be making some sort of cream based dessert that requires gelatin to thicken it. and you will soak some gelatin sheets in water and think "this is too few gelatin sheets for this amount of cream." this is the devil speaking. it will thicken in the fridge and if you add too much you will end up with milk jelly

at some point in your life you will be baking cookies. you will take the sheet out after twelve minutes as the recipe instructs and the cookies will still be glistening and soft. "these don't seem cooked enough," you will think to yourself, "i should place them back into the oven until their edges are nice and golden." this is the devil talking. this is how you get dry, overdone cookies. the cookies will continue to bake on the warm sheet for several more minutes and then harden up after sitting on a rack for a while. trust the process. trust the process.

at some point in your life you will be adding a small pasta to a soup and you will think "that is not enough small pasta." this is the devil talking. the pasta will absorb the stock and expand. this is how you end up with a soup that is a solid mass of soggy ditalini.

at some point in your life you will be bringing sugar and butter to boil for toffee and you will think “it hasn’t thickened enough.” that is the devil talking. the toffee needs to cool before it can set. this is how you end up with toffee that will annihilate your mouth. learn from this folly.

apparently the devil spends a lot of time in kitchens

just remember that al Qassam (military wing of Hamas) are genocide survivors, people who have lost family due to israeli bombing. that in a world where the most powerful empires are trying to annihilate the only line of defense for gaza, the most radical and principled thing you could do is not write a thread regarding Hamas's politics , but convey your support for Palestinian armed defense against ongoing slaughter. Hamas is not some separate entity, these are armed colonized people who have been criticized endlessly, trust me theres nothing radical or new about your criticism, ive read alot and i will never understand that how we dont understand the urgency of the palestinian situation, the US wants to kill all armed palestinians, you must convey your support for armed resistance.

Just so we're clear both Hamas and Hezbollah are 100% justified in any aggression towards Israel.

Both of these resistance groups are a response to Israel's violent occupation and invasions in the region. Hezbollah emerged in 1982 after Israel invaded Lebanon. Hamas was created after the first Intifada in 87.

There's genuinely no argument downstream of this reality that is worth listening to. You can't criticize people for resisting occupation. You also can't expect these groups to disarm while the very threat that created them still exists.

And yes I support all violent acts by Hamas and Hezbollah towards the Zionist entity

If you've watched Israel in action for the past 3 years and still don't understand why Hamas and Hezbollah are both necessary and justified then you're a lost cause

i know this is controversial but harming non-combatants is bad actually regardless of their nation's criminality

There's no such thing as an Israeli non-combatant. Reserve troops are still troops.

there is, actually, as defined by international law

Do you realize how stupid you sound bringing up international law in a discussion about resistance that emerged precisely because of the failures and gaps within IHL?

You can't simultaneously be an instrument of armed and violent colonization while asking for the immunity of a non combatant. Just because Israelis aren't wearing a uniform when they carry out colonial violence doesn't mean they're "non combatants" lol

Do you think only uniformed soldiers are taking part in this occupation and genocide of Palestinians? What sanitized version of resistance are you looking for here and why do you guys always start with the "violence is bad" shit when the colonized start shooting back?

🤷 you have a standard or you don't

Yeah, you don't have any, you fence-sitting fuck.

@blindmel0n has the same standard as someone who thinks killing Nazis is bad

YouTube is reportedly offering its biggest creators millions of dollars to reject Netflix, while warning that those who accept deals with its streaming rival could lose major perks.

“Netflix has intensified its push into the creator space, securing videos and shows from established YouTubers as it attempts to attract younger viewers.”

YouTube is fighting back by offering “millions to keep their videos exclusive to YouTube for a set period.”

“The proposed payments could include YouTube directly financing shows or giving creators a share of revenue from major brand campaigns.”

No deals have been made yet, but YouTube is getting close for some partners

consequences of signing up for Netflix

“Creators who sign with Netflix could face consequences from YouTube”

They’ll be less likely to feature those creators in marketing campaigns or invite them to events

“They could also be excluded from receiving a share of revenue generated through certain brand partnerships.”

who does Netflix have and what are the requirements?

“Netflix has pursued agreements with dozens of major creators.

Alan Chikin Chow and Nick DiGiovanni have reportedly been paid to release videos across both platforms, while the streamer has also held talks with Hot Ones.”

“These deals allow creators to earn millions from content they are already producing while reaching Netflix’s more than 325 million subscribers.”

“However, Netflix reportedly requires videos to be submitted days before release and has asked creators to remove certain sponsorships.

YouTube’s arguments over this

YouTube argues that simultaneous releases hurt viewing figures and suggests creators no longer see the platform as their primary outlet.

The move marks a shift for YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, who previously responded to concerns about major creators leaving for Netflix and Amazon by arguing that outside projects often bring viewers back.

Netflix has also expanded into video podcasts after its CEO predicted that more podcasts would eventually arrive on the platform.

Meanwhile, YouTube has increasingly positioned itself as a television competitor, even introducing a season and episode layout resembling Netflix.”

Okay, just blocked another person on a Galsei post of mine who commented saying that we can't use she/her for Ralsei, that I'm wrong and that I should "shut the fuck up and listen to people speaking" (???). Then they went out of their way to comment about 7 more times, replying to other comments she/her-ing Ralsei as well. Oh and they also compared she/her-ing Ralsei to He/him-ing Kris.

Then I go to their blog and their pinned post said "this is not a safe space for trans Ralsei, do not fucking interact", so why are you??? Interacting???? With Galsei content then?????????

You come to my house. You eat my food. AND THEN YOU SPIT IN MY FACE?!

Fuck no. You're blocked now.

(This is them responding to one of the comments)

See I just usually block mean people and move on but it gets to a point, y'know? So just have their name and block them, I truly do not want this person going through the Galsei tag and spamming mean comments.

I have a feeling that the people who say “You can’t use she/her for Ralsei because it’s bad to do that to real trans people in their situation!” are the same people who said “it’s okay to use he/him for Jax because they died before coming out to everyone around them” despite misgendering a trans person post-mortem on the sole basis of “they weren’t out to everybody” being pretty widely regarded as a really fucking ghoulish thing to do to real dead trans people, but I just can’t prove it.

Selective humanization of trans characters only when it allows them to deny those characters their identities.
