It has been a while since I have posted here though I have enjoyed reading the various thoughtful and interesting posts that have been offered since.
First of all, thank you all for the responses I have received to date. I have spent months compiling and working through the information collected from my last surveys numbering nearly 400 responses. The amount of assistance has been overwhelming and I am incredibly happy to see such a high level of support.
I also apologize for the level of crossposting but I do wish to get as many of the livejournal communities as I may for there are individuals who belong to only one or another but do not have huge mass membership.
Following is the last survey that I will need for my work. The questions are slightly broader in scope and several will require some thought. There is reason behind each and every one. I have spent the last month and a bit fine tuning the survey and adding questions after conferring with a number of very wise people (both otherkin and human).
I have had some strong interest in the book from several publishers and I am currently looking into which will offer the best price to the buyer as well as the widest possible distribution.

heya, the names night__eyes, and i've been practising wicca for around three years now, and i awakened to my 'other self' around the middle of last year. but i have recently discovered a long to practise Shamanism, so for the past few weeks i have been getting infromation about it from books and the internet and such. i was wondering if anyone had any reliable sites that i could use for more info or if anyone has any suggestions on how to get started (i.e: sacred spaces, power animals, tools, meditation ect.)
Hi, I've just joined. It's fascinating to find a community like this. I've known ever since I can remember that I have a unicorn spirit inside of me. However, I've suffered a lot of personal attacks from people when letting my beliefs on this subject known - so for a long time I have learned not to speak of it. It's nice to find a place where people can talk about such things openly :)

Merry meet everyone I just joined this comunity and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Catherine but most of my friends call me Cat. I live in NC and I am a pagan. My spiritual form is that of a green earth dragon. The places I love to go to are linked to being an eatrh dragon. I love the mountains and lakes or streames beside them, go figure. As far as I can figure my mom is a human and dad is a dragon. How that happened I do not know. They did get divorced in 1980 after being married for 19 years though. I am not sure about my older sister or her husband but my neice is fay and my nephew is another dragon. I have noticed its harder to spot with family members. I also have a younger brother and I think he is a dragon too. But enough about them. I do have a question for the group are ther any other female dragons out there. I have noticed that the majority of otherkin in my area are male dragons and female faries. As far as I know I am the only female dragon. It seemes that all my friends are faries. (not ment as an insult)I count elves in that group too. I love the faries except when they buzz aroung in my head to much.(remember dragon clawing a young farie is bad even if she is leaving footprints) I guess I just want some one that relates to being a dragon that is also female. Here are some things I have learned as a dragon. When asrtal projecting as a dragon change back into something else before you go back into your body it is a big shock to the system if you try to squeese a 60ft dragon into a 5'8" body. Dragons are good for protection. Some humans are not as dumb as they appear they have accepted the dragon concept that sometimes you have to destroy in order to rebuild. Although taken to extremes it causes trouble. Well I am now running out of things to say and its getting late so I will say merry part and brightest blessings to all the other kindred.

Hello. I am both otherkin and writer. I have been aware of my personal differences for many decades and struggled with my own changes during a time when spirituality was centered around the community church. I currently live in the french part of Canada doing piece work and holding contract based positions. My research and interaction with otherkin communities has been leading to the eventual publication of a book focusing on otherkin.
I have joined this and other communities in order to research and collect information for this book as well as for my own natural curiousity. I do tend to lurk and read more than get involved in discussion.

i am new here. i join because i feel as if i am being left in the dark. i believe that every living creature is a guide, in a sence. there just happens to be different kinds. humans (the souls, not the bodies) are one species of guide, just like satyrs, naiads, dryads, etc. are other species. i believe that these 'races' can mix and i believe that some people are half-human, half whatever. as for this physical body, i believe that it is possible for humans (and all guides for that matter) to manifest their life energies into the physical realm. i believe that a the forms we take when in the body do not entirely depend upon which species of guide we belong to. a naiad can manifest in the exact same body that a human can.
now, as i've said, i feel as though i have been left in the dark. my beliefs are gathered from what my friends are 'willing to let me know'. i don't think this is right. i believe that i have the right to know anything and everything about guides of all kinds just as anyone else does and it should not be kept a secret amongst a certain 'chosen few'.
with this said, i am eager to listen and learn from anyone who is willing to teach me. if my beliefs are mistaken in any way, please let me know. if i have been kept in the dark for good reason, i would greatly appreciate someone explaining to me WHY it has been so. i would greatly appreciate any information on the history of guides, types of guides, etc.
