In Between Dragons

Chapter seven is up and finished! I'm actually rather proud of this one. I think I caught the essence of Telemain and Morwen's relationship.

Curious, Telemain asked, “what is that?”

“You’ll see.” She took a small about of the salve and rubbed it between her forefingers and thumbs. Then she stepped forward and reached out to Telemain, gently rubbing the mixture into his ear lobes.

“What is this?” he protested, trying to shake away like a small child. “I’m going to smell like an herb garden!”

“Stop fussing. I’m almost done. Then I can see if it works, and then you can go to bed. You’re cranky.”

“And you’re not? I’ve never heard you snap at me so much in one night!”

“Will you two keep it down? Some of us are trying to sleep!”

“You’ve seen loss around you recently. Not death, but close. And you worry for those you love around you. You worry that the same could happen to those who are still close to you, both friends and family.” Ivis replaced the second band over his third eye. “And now I’ve added to those worries because you fear you’re the tattle-tail in all of this sword flim flam business.”

Jack leaned forward with a grin on his face. “And what about Telemain?” he asked. “What can you tell us about him?”

Ivis looked up just as Telemain walked back into the room, paging through the registry. “Telemain? He’s simply a maniac, that’s all.”

Amory rolled her eyes. “Excuse my cousin, he has no tact sir. Unlike him, I can tell you for who you really are.”

Ivis turned to Amory and barked a laugh. “Do you now? Enlighten us young lady! I like a bit of intelligent zest!”

Amory smiled warmly. “You’re a soothsayer. Or a cyclopes. I haven’t been able to decide just yet.”

Telemain and Ivis smiled and exchanged a look. “This one is clever, unless you told her ahead of time.” Telemain shook his head and Ivis continued, “well then, let’s not keep her in suspense.”

She looked up at him and said, "you can wipe that smile off your mug."

"Oh, come now Morwen. You make graduating summa cum laude sound like an under achievement."

"It isn't," she stated evenly. "But I still say you bent the rules a bit to make valedictorian."

"Oh really? What's your theory?"

She chuckled to herself and said, "you use too many big words."

“Why is that?”

“They thought it was too below them, which just goes to prove that they have an even bigger ego than he does,” Morwen said, motioning her head in Telemain’s direction.

He ignored her.

The magician took his in one swallow, answering, "yes, but in five minutes, you're not going to care."

"Morwen, it may be the dim light out here, but you're face looks like it's turning a nice shade a puce."

"That's because I can't decide whether I want to be embarrassed or sick," she moaned.

Morwen/Telemain VS Morwen/Brandel

I started mapping out an idea for a fic in my head that mainly covers everything that happened to everyone between "Calling on Dragons" and "Talking to Dragons." Mendanbar is indisposed and Cimorene and Daystar are in hiding. But there obviously was a lot going on if at the end of "Talking" we find out Telemain and Morwen are engaged.

So...what happened in between?

I thought about this fic as I reread "Calling" a couple weeks ago, and it was then I noticed...I sensed this spark between Morwen and Brandel that she has sometimes with Telemain. Thus, I'm wondering if there were implied feelings between them.

For me, I'm making this part of my fic. But I'm just wondering if anybody else sensed the M/B attraction? Anyone?

Anyways, I'm slowly writing out the first chapter. Basically, a number of the minor characters come back and I give them all a duty through the break between the two stories. My character list? Telemain gets the point of view in this one since all of the other main human characters get to more or less narrate in the actual novels (ya know, "Dealing" follows Cimorene, "Searching" with Mendanbar, "Calling" for Morwen, and "Talking" for Daystar). Then there's Morwen, Kazul, Brandel, Amory, Gypsy Jack, and Willin.

Do I have any takers? :)

Hello

Erm... Hello, I'm new here. I don't know when I started reading the Enchanted Forest Chronicles, but I did, and I have been addicted ever since. I've read them over and over, but I can't find the 'illustrated version' that people have been talking about. I have listened to the book-on-tapes several times as well, and I love (most of) the voices- though, not Morwen's voice for the first book. It's nice to know that there actually is a place here for the EFC, and I no longer have only my brohters to talk to about it.

P.S. There is a website called "Imagine Casting" where people can flesh out their ideal cast for whatever they want, and all four books in the EFC have been uploaded. If anyone's interested they're here: http://imaginecasting.com/titles/s…. It is lovely to meet you all!

(no subject)

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself.. Im Britt.  *insert wave here*

My friend got me turned onto the EFC when I was eleven, and now I'm twenty four and reading them to my own daughter!  And she loves them just as much as I do!  A lot of people are far too concerned with the 'reccomended age' for these books- great reading isn't dependent on needing a dictionary (Latin-English or otherwise!) to make sense of it.

**spoiler**  (probably not needed, but just in case!)

It's more then worth it to watch her light up with this hilariously shocked expression when Mendanbar asks Cimorene to marry him.  Or, what's becoming her favorite expression... "Aww Mom, you're acting like a wizard!"
