What You Never Thought Of Reading

Rawr...anyone interested in restarting this AGAIN? You guys gotta help me out this time, instead of buggering off. If not, then I'll stop. I just thought this might be fun

Anyone want to volunteer for a month?

Hello everyone.  My name is Emily I just joined.  I love to read and to analyze and discuss what I've read.  I read at least a book a day.  It's a healthy obsession.   I went to my library today to take out this month's book but it was already checked out so I'll just jump into reading next month's book.  If no one takes July and it's not to late I was thinking of a couple books that could be done, some classics.  Let me know if it's available! Thanks!

Once again, I am doing a book for this month, since no one has stepped forward to take it. Would it help if I posted questions about the books we read for you members to respond to? That is what I was hoping to avoid, since it almost makes me some kind of teacher, giving you assignments, but since you aren't talking much, I figured I would offer that as an option.


The book for the month of June is going to be Booth Tarkington's The Magnificent Ambersons. Also since this is the first book we've read that has gone through multiple mediums, I am going to suggest that all readers also see the film (1942) of the same name starring Joseph Cotten, Dolores Costello, Anne Baxter and Tim Holt. Finally, if you really get into it and want to compare the different mediums that this story has passed through, there is also a radio version (1939) for download, by the Campbell Playhouse, which can be found here at the Mercury Theatre on the Air website. Both versions are by Orson G. Welles; he is very good at transcribing books to radio, and he based his version of the film on his radio broadcast. That is the reason I want to read this book, because I want to see how well he did with this one

Anyway, that's about it.

So, besides myself, has anyone else seriously started DaVinci Code?

Hello, boys and girls.

April is now over and Cat's Cradle was an awesomely amusing book. Thanks to Alli for that one.

But, now it's May, and it's my month, and I take my months very seriously.

So, as the lovely Kira stated, this month's book is the Da Vinci Code, written by a spiffy guy named Dan Brown. This book has garnished a lot of contriversy from devout Catholics and Cardinals all the way to the red neck who lives down the street and can actually string together a sentence.

I know you're all lazy. Want to know how I know? Because you're probably mostly all teenagers who don't have much motivation to do anything.

I would know, I'm 20 and that motivation has yet to come rushing back.

Regardless, you're all probably too freakin' lazy to go to the library and rent the book, go to B&N to buy it, or borrow it from a friend, so I found a digital copy that you can read from the comfort of your computer chair.

All you have to do is right click on this link, click save as, and put it somewhere on your computer you can find it.

Well here we are in May, supposedly we are suppose to be getting flowers, and considering the amount it has rained out here, this whole bloody campus had better be covered in flowers before I move out.

Besides flowers, May also brings a new book! ghost_of_anrui claimed this month and assigned to us, the controversial book The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown, which I announced back on April 20th. So go out to your bookstore, your library or get it from your friend and start reading!
Hopefully this book will create some discussions in this community, because of the theories that Brown includes in his work. If you have already read it, then find a favourite moment and share it with us. Pull up an idea that Brown writes about and give us your opinion. This community is for discussion members, use it!

Also, months are now available for you to claim. Leave a comment here, or get in contact with me in some other way so that I can set you up with a month. Make sure you read the rules, so you know what is expected of you.

As the month of April comes to a rainy conclusion, I find myself in a reflective mood, and I ask you to share your thoughts, as well.

I'm sure a few of you have actually read the book this month (Cat's Cradle), and there were a lot of rather rudimentary quotes that could easily fit anyone's life, mostly stemming from the following of Bokonon.

"New knowledge is the most valuable commodity on earth. The more truth we have to work with, the richer we become."

Well ladies and gentlemen,

May is quickly approaching and the person in charge of May is ghost_of_anrui. The book he chose is the contraversial The Davinici Code by Dan Brown.
"On my own," he admitted to me, when I asked what book he was going to chose, "I would never get around to reading it. At least here I can basically make myself read it."
Anyway, this book should definately spawn some discussion, considering the various theories he uses. So get ahold of your copy for May and when that month rolls around start reading!

Hey! I'm new here. My name's Gina. I guess that I will wait until the next book to start reading with ya'll, but I thought I'd pop in and say hello first! Right now I'm reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris and after I finish that I'm reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Yay! I'm excited to be in this community!!
