All my Shakarian fics - a masterpost

Crossing A Line - First Contact War Shakarian AU: Garrus finds a wounded human soldier and tries to nurse her back to health.

Behind Closed Doors - sequel to Crossing A Line. Shepard and Garrus being a couple for 27 chapters straight. There’s an overarching plot, but it’s mostly fluff.

Edge of Yesterday - Shepard survives after ME3 but her memories since Cerberus revived her are gone. And Garrus is still in love with her.

Tomorrow’s Light - a kinda-sorta sequel to Edge of Yesterday; a longform take on post-canon domestic Shakarian still struggling with their trauma.

one-shots:

Snipers - Shepard watches Garrus sleep and realises how much he trusts her.

Lullaby - Shepard can’t sleep, so Garrus decides to abandon all of his dignity and sing her a lullaby.

Beauty is Merciless - after getting the missile, Garrus realizes he’s not pretty anymore.

i’ve been looking for incredibles, the meanings of unbelievable - Shepard has trauma responses and accidentally punches Garrus during a panic attack.

i even hope for tragedies (if it goes with the thrill) - Shepard throws herself into danger with little regard for her safety. Garrus notices. Takes place almost immediately after the end of ME2, when their relationship is very new and they’re still figuring it out.

like literally if i didn’t want to see some weird nonsense i wouldn’t be consuming scifi

“ohh this episode is about meeting a bunch of dinosaurs who developed space travel and left earth to go live on the other side of the galaxy isn’t that crazy?! isn’t that silly?!” sure yeah maybe a little but by focusing on that but you’re missing the narrative reason for it which is to provide a starting point to explore religious authoritarianism and the production of scientific knowledge

just a spoonful of [nonsense] helps the [critical thinking about uncomfortable social and structural problems that are such a fundamental part of the background radiation of our lives that we can’t see them] go down

5.what’s a hobby you’d like to get into?

hmmmmmmmm I have the problem of I like everything and everything looks interesting to me. I’ve been recently very interested in ceramics and polymer clay sculpting… But I have enough boxes for expensive hobbies I only pick up once in a blue moon so I’m telling myself no…. Later…. Maybe after I’ve used up all my yarn or something….

14. what’s your favourite piece of furniture and where did you get it?

The yellow armchair from IKEA that I’ve seen so many of my friends also have. I got it from IKEA.

25. would you rather own a dishwasher or a laundry machine if you could only have one or the other?

This is deeply personal because I have owned a dishwasher in the past and I do own a laundry machine that is broken so currently I am living without both but having experienced both and honestly? No laundry machine is absolute hell while doing the dishes is my favourite chore. This is an easy laundry machine > dishwasher.

1. What’s your favourite kitchen appliance?

Oooh it’s hard to pick. Like what counts as a kitchen appliance? Can I pick my freezer? Can I pick the coffee machine? Or maybe do I just like a whisk?

Idk. I guess it’s like the most overlooked thing in the kitchen but I can imagine life without a microwave or an air fryer or coffee machine, but I can’t imagine life without a kettle so probably my favourite thing in the kitchen is the kettle lmfao

28. what chore do you hate the most?

I never ever dust. Ever. Hate it so much. Literally the worst thing in the world. The fact that surfaces can get dirty without any use is such fucking bullshit.

29. do you have houseplants and how are you at keeping them alive?

Extremely fun timing, I *just* got a new aloe plant! Literally two hours ago. I am horrible at keeping plants alive. I planted so many herbs and flowers this spring and I was so excited when they sprouted and started growing, and here I am now, all of them dead. Every single one. I always overwater cacti too. No matter how hard I try they always die. I do my best and I buy fertilizer and new dirt and new pots and for what… They always die. I am slightly better at keeping succulents alive though so hopefully my new aloe survives.

i think americans should have to put a banner above their post that says U.S. CENTRIC ADVICE/INFORMATION. i think political posts should clarify that they are giving protest/societal/class information relevant only to the USA i think i would like to stop getting halfway through a post with really good information and then realising it is not widespread advice and is only applicable in the united states of america

for the love of GOD can we PLEASE stop treating us-centric advice as applicable to the whole entire world. Please. beyond anything else, i do not think you guys understand how difficult it makes it for young people to interact with and learn information relevant to them.

at a certain point, treating us-american advice as universally applicable borders on misinformation. i am not saying that it is done maliciously, but it is dangerous at worst. i do not want younger people going around assuming that certain laws do/do not apply to them and getting in trouble because of it. i worry about what ‘fundamental/constitutional/labour rights’ are only legally defensible in the USA. i worry about kids who do not know yet to wonder where the advice is for, and take it as fact because a post that reads “EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS” begins with “EVERYONE”.

okay yes all the tags are very very good points but i would like to point out the main reason i made this post, which is that

if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.

i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about “boooo americans” i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations

(please do not chalk this up to 'if you don’t do research then you are stupid’. i made this post with young people in mind. that being said i am willing to bet it also applies to others, ie those who are newer to non-local internet, older folks, or those escaping high-control environments.)

#chemistry is key #is it true love or are they just a man and a woman who looked at each other once and now we’re supposed to root for them to get together #and yes this goes for gay ships as well if they don’t have The Energy between them i dont care

In the morning, the experience of staying overnight at Shepard’s humble place felt surreal. Having a gorgeous woman for yourself from the early sunrise made Liara content. Well, there was also her enormous dog. A bothersome, curious beast that seemed to enjoy disturbing people’s personal space.
